Rare Soul Tapas has reopened after a fire closed it more than a year ago. Lorenzo Wyche’s atmospheric restaurant/lounge serves creative takes on Southern dishes in a small plates format. Think Cajun-fried Cornish hen, Buffalo-style chicken livers and “forever braised” baby back ribs.
Wyche has put his popular Westside breakfast joint – Social House — up for sale. According to a report from the Shumacher Group, a restaurant real estate broker, the “absentee owner does not run shifts while growing late night life management, consulting firm and new hotel venture.”

Hey John – speaking of Brookhaven, any word on any other restuarants moving into the space over by Yoforia? I heard a J Christopher’s – and a long time ago an Atkins Park as well – were moving in.
Any other word on the Town Brookhaven development either? Was supposed to open in Spring of this year with 17 restuarants (including my fave, a second Nuevo Laredo) but didn’t look anything near complete when I drove by yesterday…

The lobster mac-n-cheese and peach cobbler are worth it all! Glad it’s back.

I prefer beans soup, bread corn and back fat. Okay, okay…. I said ‘em all backwards. But that makes it sound more interesting.

J. Christopher??? I hope they don’t open any new restaurants around me (cobb county okay). They are the worst. Nothing served that couldn’t be cooked at home. Now Java Jive, chorizo eggs, or Carroll Street cafe, those are places for breakfast.

The lobster mac was good, as were many menu items but the service was a disgrace. Beware of extra miscellaneous charges as well.
