I had to share this video my nephew send me of my brother-in-law, Ed, trying to cook a whole stuffed turkey on the grill after the oven conked out.
Just what you want to have happen on Thanksgiving Day with a crowd of people coming over. My sister said the dinner preparations were a little hairy for a while there, but the turkey was, eventually, delicious.

He should have gotten a 40 oz can of Schlitz and made Beer Can Turkey!

you can’t cook a turkey over direct heat like that. If no one ended up ill after eating a burnt ouside-raw inside bird, then count your lucky stars.

I think the guy must be an idiot and most likely a genetic flaw.

If this is your wife’s brother, we will understand why your column will be delayed due to frostbitten hands (as a result of sleeping in the doghouse.) Anyhow this is good, funny stuff.

Maybe it’s just me, but was anyone else initially a little disappointed (and eventually relieved) that it wasn’t a live turkey?

my god, i know that turkey was NASTY. YUCK. its no way it will cook evenly..the skin will be dried and scorched giving a burnt taste. the insides will be raw.(and un healthy) what an idiot. and all of those who ate it. the thought of fried turkey makes me want to barf. I cooked my 12lb turkey in a toaster oven. A toaster oven though not as large as a covention oven but trust it cooks just as fast just as well. This is probably seventh thanksgiving baking a turkey in a toaster oven and it come out perfect. but over open flame. i would not be able to stand that burnt smell nor the taste. not to mention how unsafe it looks. to each his own. but I dont want a fried turkey..not even the ones in the deep fat fryer.give me the old fashioned Oven baked turkey that takes five to six hours. if u get your tail up early like you do on black friday to go shopping you should have no problem and plenty time to slow cook your turkey

Was that blackened turkey – Creole style? I was particularly impressed with his no-fear basting technique – even with the bird on fire.

It’s hilarious! Talking about “taking kitchen controversy to a broil”. I think you should change the name of this video to “cooking with confidence”

I think your BIL is a super sport to let this be filmed (including his face) knowing it would certainly end up on the internet!
