Never understood the attraction of Thumbs Up and/or Crescent Moon. They are the very definition of mediocrity. Why people line up there -- especially in Decatur, where you can't walk a block without hitting three (better) brunch options -- is a mystery to me. And their cash-only policy is ridiculous in this day and age.

Give me Pastries a Go Go (who will ask you how you want your omelet cooked from the get-go), Cafe Alsace, Watershed, Ria's Bluebird, or any of a number of better breakfast options. Even J. Christopher's is more consistent.

JK, I stick to their specials, scrambles, and chicken and waffles. They always satisfy. The lunch stuff looks great too, but I can't bring myself to stray from breakfast, my favorite meal of the day.

Greg: Sorry -- that was kind of a thin post that built on my two previous posts on omelets. Basically, yes, what Ganners said. Eggs cooked for too long at too high a temperature so they were stiff, filled with air bubbles and brown on the surface. Otherwise, I really do like Thumbs Up. Their grits are terrific.

JK: Looks like what I would call "Egg-y". I would send it back indeed! I have learned that the omelettes with air whipped into them (ah-la Waffle House blender anyone?) tend to dry out because they are left to whip too long. My fave stand by for omelettes is the Square Bagel (Marietta). No whipping of the egg. Just a fork in a bowl turning the eggs out on to a flat top where they get them so thin and before your eyes fold it up into a little piece of heaven with your choice of items tucked right in. I will have mine with provelone...and a potato pancake on the side.
Thumbs Up certainly has a following....I liked 'em the first few goes. It is now Thumbs Mediocre. Love the grits...not the egg-y omelettes.

I never tried Thumbs Up until they came to the 'burbs (new location on Alpharetta Hwy in Roswell). I haven't tried an omelette yet but I like the Scrambles and their grits are "oh so good". They are a nice change of pace from the other choices in the area - like the scary looking Southern Skillet across the street.

What exactly does "didn't do it for me" mean? Was the flavor bad? The texture? The temperature? And what exactly does "bouncy" mean in reference to food? Come on man, give us a little more to go on. You're slipping into cutesy critic lingo that makes little sense to those of us who don't speak the language.

By the way, I have no ties to Thumbs Up... ate there only once and found it middle-of-the-road. It attracts the big crowds because there are not that many options in that part of town.
