Yeah yeah….It’s cool that Kessler is back on the scene, he’s funny. But seriously, I miss reading Meredith’s daily blog.

Social is one of my favorite Atlanta restaurants. What I think is so cool about it is that it has the look and feel of a neighborhood place (like you might find in ViHi or Inman Park) but it’s in the heart of downtown. I’m a little odd in that I enjoy doing the car-free urban experience thing in Atlanta and I enjoy taking the MARTA train to the Civic Center station and walking a couple of blocks to Social. Kind of puts me in the mind of a Parisian restaurant experience.

My favorite dinner entree is the lamb tagine with couscous. Great flavors and a really beautiful dish. The steak frites and moules frites are awesome too. We ate here for lunch recently and my wife got the pan bagnat sandwich and I thought that was excellent. The staff has always been really nice and helpful with selections.

It’s a nice place to hang out and sit at the bar. They have some great house cocktails. My one complaint, as a beer fan, is that they have a small beer selection. Their focus is really on wine. I’m not much of a wine drinker so I can’t comment on their selection.

Social Resto was awesome. I had the lamb tajine. Great atmosphere, amazing service and a lovely meal.

Social is very cool. I try to hit it once a week. Just hanging out at the bar with a cocktail or an Estrella and a couple of small plates is a great experience. The bartenders are awesome. Went for lunch last week and had the Lamb Papardelle and loved it. They got the lamb to be flavorful and moist but not too oily — not always the case with lamb.

My wife chose this place for her birthday dinner with a group and everyone seemed impressed. Nice relaxed vibe and cool interior.

Hey Meridith Ford: There is no such thing as a “marquez sausage.” It is MERGUEZ sausage. See the following source: Davidson, Alan, “Merguez”, Oxford Companion to Food (1999), p. 497. ISBN 0192115790

Shouldn’t our city paper’s food critic know that off the top of their head? Sadly not the only error in that piece…

Big fan of Social! It’s nice to have an attractive, quality place like this downtown. Very different from any other downtown restaurant — comfortable yet chic (and affordable). I’ve been a regular since they opened and have had many great experiences both by myself at the bar and with others at a table. Best steak frites I’ve ever had was here.

Hi Robin P: Yes, that is the preferred spelling, I believe — one that John pointed out to me yesterday, though I’ve found references that spell it not one, not two, but three ways. And I love “The Oxford Companion to Food.” Thanks for letting everyone know about it!

Social is my Cheers – I live right down the street and have been a regular since it opened. I love everything about the place – the food, atmosphere, music, and the people who work there – all wonderful! It feels like a European bistro (helped by the fact that the owners and a couple of servers speak French and another server speaks Spanish). The variety of Mediterranean food (small plates and entrees) is very nice and reasonably priced. A good selection of wine, too. Go try this place – the owners Ray and Jay are good, hard working people (they also own Fina Italian Bistro in College Park) who will make you feel at home and serve you fresh, delicious food. And Douglas, Eddie, Yan, and Joelle are friendly and knowledgeable servers who will remember you when you go back!
