@Never Again - not sure why you are calling people fool when you clearly have no idea how to eat out and respect other people's sensibilities or the rules of their establishments when it comes to dress codes. You mention that you were told in advance that your friend needed sleeves to be served and your explanation was that "I just picked them up from the airport". What possible difference does that make? If he wasn't wearing pants would you expect him to be served because you came from the airport? Get real! You also seem to be offended that they asked you to remove your hat - also well within normal dress codes. In addition, you implied that you deserved some type of special exemption because not only are you "Ron's cousin" but you managed to show up before they opened on a Friday morning. Again, what difference does that make? Restaurants have dress codes to ensure that all of their guests are comfortable and don't have to look at someone's exposed armpit while they are trying to eat. If you don't like it, then don't eat there - plain and simple. Finally, you point out that we should "read between the lines" and somehow figure out that you were simply trying to say that the food wasn't good and that you did not like the service. Well, that's fine except that you didn't mention anything about the food in your first post. Before you criticize others for not being mindreaders perhaps you should learn some basic table manners, how to dress appropriately and most of all how to live your life with a little bit less of a sense of entitlement.

Not sure when it became acceptable to wear a hat at the table unless you are Jewish? I guess I am old fashioned but I prefer that men remove their hats when indoors.

The reason for the hat was I work 3rd shift-my hair was standing straight up on my head and my out of town guest were on a red eye flight from Virginia that I picked up from the airport. We were at the restaurant a few minutes before they even opened for business on a Friday morning!

CP-Please read between the lines- Fool- before you purposely miss the sole reason of my statement, that the food isn't good (loaded with salt and sugar only) even in comparison to other venues in this category.

The service was non-existent, and you'll get better service and organization at a Churches Chicken in the hood than this place. They lost 162.00 of shear profit, so you have my permission to take your hat off to them for their policies and paying attention to things that really don't matter.

there are many chicken and waffles places around the country and there was a great one here in atlanta downtown many years ago. i have been to gladys' exactly twice, didn't like it either time and haven't been back and that's been over 10 years ago. the food and service are abysmal and i can never understand why it's such a big draw.

I live in Alpharetta and I didn't know that they had a location in Johns Creek. I went to the downtown location a few months back and it wasn't good at all. I'd rather have Waffle House and KFC. Honestly, I don't understand the combination of chicken and waffles. I grew up in the south and that wasn't a combination that would come to mind. My grandma served biscuits and maybe pancakes, never saw her with a waffle maker. Fried chix wasn't a breakfast staple that I remember either. I think that was concocted up north somewhere.

Whoa Bill!! Roscoe's is HARDLY where chicken and waffles started. It's LONG been a southern dish that was exported to the rest of the country when African-Americans began leaving the south at the turn of the last century and spread the gospel of delicious soul food.

Anyone with manners knows that hats are worn outside, not inside, especially in a restaurant. Good for Gladys Knight's C& W for their dress code.... also, the last thing I want to see when I'm dining out is an exposed armpit. Cut off sleeves don't belong.

The service at all of their locations is horrible and I actually know Shanga and Ron was my cousin before his passing. I and a party of 5 out of towners were seated at the downtown location-the waiter came to the table and quickly returned to the table with our drink orders. The hosted came to the table mind you after we were seated with our drinks and comfronted all of us asking where are the last 2 persons in yall's party-I replied they are on the way from their Hotel down the street-they got lost. He then asked us all with our drinks to leave the table and take our drinks back up to the front of the restaurant until the remaining 2 people show up! Then he accuses me of (lying) telling him that all of my party was present! The manager swiftly came to the table after my party had become aggitated-and asked us not to leave! I haven't been back to the downtown location since.

The Stone Crest Mall location a year later. The hostess look through the window at my out of town friends taking pictures in front of the restaurant and says to me that the gentlemen that has the shirt with the cut off sleeves can't come into the restaurant and be served. I asked why, she replies, "We have a no cut off sleeve policy here", I said that I just picked all them up from the airport", she says "I'm sorry thats our policy". My friends wanted to eat there since they heard so much about this place, that they went to Marshall's at the top of the hill and bought T-shirts with sleeves. We returned to the restaurant and were seated and the waiter comes to the table and froze when he turned to take my order and says, "Sir, we have a not hat policy"!. I said "you won't serve me food that i'm paying for because I have on a hat"? At this point we left the restaurant and went over to Bugaboo Creek Restaurant, got better food and the tab between us was 162.00 including tip. I'll never eat at a Glady's and Ron restaurant and Ron was my cousin from Detroit!
