Jeff wasn’t happy with the dough that night, but I thought they were pretty worthy of a face stuffing. Anyone been lately?

It was good, but not “to die for”. Much better than Fritti, which the AJC lists as a “best pick” for some inexplicable reason. Best pizza in Atlanta – Baraonda, Hearth and Vintage Pizza. Nothing here compares to Naples, so let’s just forget trying. Waiting to try Max’s and Buckhead Pizza.

Bob – You should also try Antico Pizza Napoletana if you like Neapolitan style with a blistery, chewy crust. I think you’d like it.

Thanks, John, I will (and I do). I went to Max’s last night and while it’s a “neat” place, the pizza was nothing more than typical pizzeria pizza – not NY by any stretch — and parking is a hassle. To me, the closest to NY pizza in Atlanta is Pasta Vino, but since they changed hands and moved upscale, we don’t go there much anymore as it got too expensive for what it is.

Does “blistery, chewy crust” mean burned? We almost loved Varasano’s pizza, but the crust
was too charred to have any taste. We live 1/2 block from the pizzeria, so we’ll try it again. We love thin crust, but burned, no thanks.

Try it again, Reva, and if the pizza is too burned, send it back for a fresh one. Let me know what you think.

I’m surprised that most of you folks haven’t been to Antico Pizza Napoletana yet, especially you John. And you say you’re a foodie?!
Once you go you’ll realize that this is the real deal. Much better than the aforementioned V and without any of the attitute.

I too favor Antico Pizza over Varasano’s for the reasons Rockindiner cites. I like Varasano’s, especially the caramelized onion and clam pies, but for the traditional stuff, I’ll take APN any day of the week.
