Herman Cain’s bigotry

WASHINGTON — If we didn’t already know this, here’s what Herman Cain’s regrettable campaign for the Republican presidential nomination has taught us: Black Americans are as capable of ugly and inexplicable prejudices as any other group. Our collective history as victims of ugly and inexplicable prejudices has not made us immune to the virus of bigotry.

So you knew that already? So did I. Still, Cain’s reflexive animosity toward law-abiding Muslim Americans has served as an unnecessary reminder.

In a recent appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” Cain told host Chris Wallace that the U.S. Constitution gives Americans the right to ban any mosque they don’t want built nearby. Having spoken out specifically against a planned mosque in Murfreesboro, Tenn., Cain seemed oblivious to the fact that the people attempting to build the mosque are also entitled to First Amendment protections.

A retired Georgia businessman turned rightwing talk radio host, Cain had been building to that preposterous and discomfiting moment since he emerged on the campaign trail. In March, while attending a gathering of conservatives in Iowa, a reporter for a progressive blog, ThinkProgress.org, asked him, “Would you be comfortable appointing a Muslim, either in your cabinet or as a federal judge?” He said flatly, according to ThinkProgress, “No, I will not.”

That revealed not only deep-seated prejudices hardly befitting an American president but also an unsettling ignorance about the U.S. Constitution, which tea party supporters like Cain claim to venerate. There is no religious test for political office in this country. The Founding Fathers were attempting to steer their new republic away from the blood-soaked waters of state-endorsed religions.

While he flirted briefly with sounding more reasonable on the issue of Islamic Americans and their religious freedom, he couldn’t resist, in the end, reverting to nutty notions — common enough among paranoid ultra-conservatives — about Sharia law and an Islamic mandate to convert infidels. All the while, he insists that his bigotry bears no comparison to that he experienced as a boy growing up in the Deep South.

Cain was never going to win the Republican nomination. He’s politically inexperienced, ignorant about major policy issues and hardly highly-regarded among the big-time donors he’d need to fund a serious run. He enjoyed a brief boomlet among the GOP’s tea-party-adoring social conservatives, but he’s been eclipsed by their latest star, U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Wisc.) It’s hard to see how Cain is more than an after-thought by the time the GOP primaries start next year.

But his candidacy will prove costly. He will leave the campaign trail having tarnished not only his personal reputation but also having contributed to the GOP’s difficulties with voters who are not white Christians. Ironically, Cain has managed to worsen the problems that the party has reaching outside its homogenous ranks.

Indeed, he perfectly illustrates the GOP’s current moment — an ever-shrinking tent of narrow-minded know-nothings who insist that those who come inside pledge absolute fealty to their most ludicrous pronouncements. As a black man, for example, Cain draws enthusiastic applause from rightwing audiences for his insistence that the tea party movement holds not a shred of racism. Perhaps Cain really believes that, but it sounds like the price of admission.

Moreover, he has enthusiastically castigated President Barack Obama, a tactic unlikely to lure many black voters, who take great pride in the nation’s first black president. Cain has not only cozied up to birthers, but he has also questioned Obama’s manhood, telling The New York Times that the president isn’t “a strong black man.”

Cain should have represented a breakthrough for the Republican Party, which hasn’t had much success luring substantive black men and women to its presidential trials. The GOP’s most memorable black presidential contender has been the clownish Alan Keyes.

As the former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, Cain has serious business credentials. He should have taken the time to develop a substantive platform so he would have had more to sell than clichés about taxes, disrespect for Obama and Islamophobia.

Instead, he became one more member of the GOP’s lunatic fringe. Oh, well. I guess the fringe needs diversity, too.

Very well said CT. And unlike those who will undoubtedly jump in with the shrill claim that you are “bashing” another GOPer, an honest reading of your piece reveals the lament you obviously feel. Left or right, there is no place in this country for views such as those held by this man.

Bigotry is color-, gender-, race- , ethnicity- , age- , wealth- , fact- and reason-blind. It is antithetical to the classically liberal, individual-focused, political, economic and moral philosophies upon which our nation was established and upon which it thrives.

The mosques are sprouting like mushrooms all over the heartland, and they are funded by unknown sources. Even a casual glance at the Koran reveals that the sole purpose of a mosque is to spread the socio-political traditions that inflect Sharia Law.

But so what? It’s not like Islam is starting a witch hunt, or passing out smallpox blankets, or worse, trying to reintroduce the missionary position to our love lives, (like a certain religion we all know).

Let people worship as they might. If it’s by religion that we perish then at least that’s better than getting nuked by missiles in Cuba.

I do not hold Cain in very high regard. Not because of his bigotry, if that is the correct word, but because his positions on the Muslim world are laughable.

He strongly supported the US sending troops to Iraq, and getting over 5000 killed, to build a new nation for Muslims. But he wants to deny Muslims the ability to build mosques on their own land with their own money.

He supported spending $1.5 trillion dollars in Iraq & Afghanistan to build new nations for Muslims.
But he wants to deny Muslims the ability to build mosques with their own money.

If Cain lives in terror of Sharia Law, he does not need to be in an office of trust. People who live in terror do not make rational decisions.

The one thing I agree with you is that Herman Cain will probably not be the presidential candidate from the GOP, but not because of his “bigotry”, but because of his status of outsider. As for his “bigotry”, it seems to me that he is only stating what others are too coward to say out loud. Is what he says wrong? Possibly, but I cannot seem to remember when was the last time a Southern Baptist group emplaced a bomb that killed innocent civilians…

Very funny CT, but you were wrong from the first paragraph as usual. Herman Cain did not teach us that even blacks can be bigoted, nope that has been there all along. Our comedians have always made fun of “white people” , think Redd Foxx, Eddie Murphy or Richard Pryor and I have laughed right along with everyone else but a white man can’t get away with the same jokes about blacks. On a serious note, years before Mr. Cain was a blip on the radar, one worthless excuse of a human being named al sharpton was slamming Jews in New York, talk about a bigot. Of course, you don’t address that because there is no R beside his name. Everybody has a little bigot in them, those who claim they don’t are not only bigots but liars also.

CT,

What an idiotic column. Those “peace loving Muslims” with their plans for all who are not Muslim are the most dangerous enemy we face in this country and world wide. Read the Koran lately? This is not a religion. It is a militant group of people intent on domination of all those who oppose them masking as a religion, worshiping a seventh century profit who thinks, along with them, that he is a cut above the average human being. I learned all I need to know about Islam on Sept 11, 2001. So did Herman Cain.

Those like you who observe and assess the world through a straw aren’t expected to get Cain.
How could you?
Cain espouses genuine Christianity. You espouse progressive Christianity, which isn’t really Christianity at all.
Cain has a “nation’s best interest” mindset. You have a “world’s best interest” mindset that prevents you from acting and speaking in the nation’s best interest.
Scriptural and American principles and conictions comprise the core of Cain’s views. Reckless indulgence is the core of yours. The only lines you draw are the situational ethics-compelled ones that flow from your own head.
How obtuse must you be to dismiss, as “nutty notions,” Cain’s wholly valid points about the islamic faith vis-a-vis the Constitution’s prohibition against free exercise of religion.
For the majority of its practitioners, islam is an indistinguishable personal faith and system of governance (i.e., sharia law) that is irreconcilable with American jurisprudence.
Note the Middle East nations that are governed by sharia law. Note the already many instances in which American judges have been convinced or coerced to consider and even incorporate sharia law components in their rulings. Note islamic leaders’ clearly stated mission to establish sharia law in America.
Do you really believe that the First Amendment authors’ intent was to provide exercise protections for a religion that fosters treason?
You probably won’t understand this but, for many Christians, designations such as democrat, republican, white and black are all secondary to their Christianity.
And they speak accordingly…even if it means offending the current president…even if it means ultimately losing in their own bid for the presidency…and, certainly, even if it means failing to live up to your “nutty notions” of how a black republican presidential candidate should comport himself.

We can agree that all, including muslims, are and should be treated the same.
But where you are hugely underestimating is: when the muslim population becomes the largest in America, and they control politics, they will shove islam and sharia law down everybodys throat. If you say this can not happen, you are naive and misleading. When they control elections due to their numbers, they will be able to legislate as they please. Cain is an idiot ... but he has somewhat of a point

July 22nd, 2011
2:48 pm

A community can come together against any matter of prospective tenant — from a mosque to a Baptist church to a liquor store. I’m not a Constitutional scholar but I guess that’s covered under the portions of the 1st Amendment that speak to the “right to peaceably assemble” and “the right to free speech.”

But Cain is an idiot (and yes, he AND Alan Keyes are clownish) because he has sold his soul and his “manhood” to become the “black Sean Hanity.” Case in point, about a year ago on his radio program (I’m a frequent listener), he allowed an elderly woman, Mary, to rail on and on about the fact that President Obama “is a Muslim plant sent here to destroy America.” But instead of correcting her, even gently, as John McCain did to one of his supporters at a well-publicized town hall meeting during the 2008 campaign, Cain said to Mary: “Uh-huh, Mary, you’re right, and thank you for your call.”

He has no integrity AND needs some speech therapy. And as a fellow Morehouse College graduate, I’m ashamed that he attended my school and sits on our board. He is indeed a part of the lunatic fringe that has taken over the Republican party, to its detriment.

And before you Tea Bagger-FOX News-Joe the Plumber-Glenn Beck feeble-minded drones respond with idiotic references to the Black community only respecting the likes of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson (such a tired, overused and untrue statement/argument), I say this: If you want a “strong Black man” who is a much better representative of the Republican party, try former Oklahoma Congressman J.C. Watts. Cain and Keyes are buffoons.

Goldie @ 2:42 – in some respects you’re right about that. The Republicans were developing some bad overspending habits as well and electing Obama propelled conservatives to go back to their fiscal roots. Hence, the 2010 House historic landslide.

It’s worth noting however that as bad as spending got under Bush, we’re mortgaging our future at a rate unimaginable until a couple years ago. In all seriousness, if Obama’s economics don’t sicken you, then you’re not paying attention.

There are people you and I don’t like for any number of reasons. I don’t see how religion is barred from that criteria. Cultural differences are fair game in my opinion. Its not gender, race, or even sexual orientation (all of which are allegedly uncontrollable). What I read in the article and throughout the comments is that we’re allowed to not like him (disassociate ourselves from him) due to his personal stance and/or views that we find offensive or inappropriate but he’s not allowed to disassociate himself from people due to their personal stance and/or views that he finds offensive or inappropriate. There seems to be a double standard but when we (everyone: dems, repubs, inds, etc.) already have our minds made up about someone, we rarely even try to find their point of view but rather respond quickly and with a lot of venom. At least Ms. Tucker isn’t afraid to put her name to her view unlike almost all who comment on these news stories. Heaven forbid someone know where you stand. From a Constitutional perspective the answer is not possibly and it is not debatable. He is absolutely wrong and should be called out for his misunderstanding or even possible ignorance of the founding document of the Country he purports to want to lead.

The deeply disturbing thing about what Cain said is not necessarily its racial components, but his complete and utter lack of understanding of the Constitution. The Tea Party supposedly revers the Constitution so it should be that group that stands up and says “No, that is not what the document says.” The Constitution is not a sword to be used to abrogate the rights of Americans but a shield to preserve and defend those rights. Any candidate who so completely lacks such understanding is not qualified to be President.

In Norway there was a bombing and guess who is speculated to be blamed, Islamic Radicals. Who was the reason behind dividing Sudan, Islamic Radicals with their genocide of Christians and other non-believers of Islam. Honor killings are only in Islam. Taxing infidels is in Islam. The only real bigots are Democrats and the NAACP that promote hatred and divide of the uneducated. I believe Tucker is part of one of these class-warfare objects.

Cynthia knows if she was in Islam she would be silenced and property of Islam just like other women and when people talk about it, they get murdered like Van Gouh’s grandson Theo Van Gogh.

“The attacker shot Theo Van Gogh and stabbed him repeatedly in the chest, callously disregarding his victim’s pleas for mercy. Despite his life-threatening injuries, Theo was able to gain enough momentum to stumble to the other side of the street but by the time he made his way across, his attacker shot and stabbed him again. He then slit Theo’s throat with a butcher knife as onlookers gasped in sheer horror. ”

williebkind , the founders had repeated incidents with Islam and one even told Thomas Jefferson it was their goal to have an Islamic world. The US after the revolutionary war was weak as far as a Navy and who was capturing US ships, Muslims and holding US sailors hostage. It is in the book Power, Faith and Fantasy.

In 1786 Thomas Jefferson, then US ambassador to France, and John Adams, then US Ambassador to Britain, met in London with Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja, the Dey’s ambassador to Britain, in an attempt to negotiate a peace treaty based on Congress’ vote of funding. To the US Congress these two future Presidents later reported the reasons for the Muslims’ hostility towards America, a nation with which they had no previous contacts.

“…that it was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman (Muslim) who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise.”

Truth hurts or what. Pretty sad case of race-baiting journalism on your part… What’s next on yoru part — calling Cain an Uncle Tom since he dared to become an American dream and add “successful CEO in a free market system where he earned everything in his life”?? to his life resume…

1.4 years to go before the Chosen One is bounced out of the White House and goes down in history as the weakest President in history. Pretty frustrating for liberals to realize that CEOs are not hiring anyone for another 1.5 years to stops Obama’s grand tax/spend/redistribute plans… When Iran gives a terrorist a tactical nuke to use on the West in about 10 years — we can all thank Obama’s spineless 4 years — I hope you will note it accordingly when you write about how 5M people got killed because Obama was not a strong black man… Cain has nailed it….

I am disturbed and distressed, though, unfortunately, not at all surprised by the majority of comments on this blog.

First of all – how can you condemn an entire religion, whose followers number in the BILLIONS, by a small majority of extremists? Could I be safe in the assumption that you would all also condemn Christianity since a handful of individuals have committed acts of terror based on their own interpretations of the faith’s teachings (George Tiller, Timothy McVeigh, etc.) ? You probably consider this question blasphemous since it is a condemnation of your own faith, even though it’s based on the same logic.

Secondly, how can so many of you suggest that Muslims are behind the terror attack in Norway today? No news agency, not even Fox News, has suggested (as of 3:40 pm ET) that there is any connection to religious extremists. Jumping to conclusions are we? If you do read the news reports, which might take you out of your comfort zone, Norwegian ploice state that they have the shooter from the second attack in custody and they believe he is responsible for the initial bombing, as well. We’ll have to wait and see what comes out of interrogation.

1. A number of muslims do vociferously condemn the terroristic actions of muslim extremists.
2. A number of outspoken muslim critics fight for the rights of women. Have you read the articles of the brave women in Saudi Arabia openly flout laws meant to keep them down?
3. Islam, as a religion, is roughly 800 years younger than Christianity. It is struggling to grow into our modern world, just as Christianity did at this point in its own religious history. What’s happened in the past 800 years of Christianity? Crusades, Spanish Inquisition, the expulsion of other Christian sects from Europe, etc.
4. There are Christians, Hindus, Muslims and many other religions fighting bloody battles around the world in the name of their religion. Maybe the fact that everyone believes their religion to be “The One True Religion” is what is driving so much of this hatred.

I understand thinking outside your little box might be difficult.

Of course it’s only a small few Muslims doing this and of course you can find acts of violence here and there from other religions, but on almost a daily basis someone is blowing themselves up in the name of Islam. Who hates Christianity? Every religion has its faults, if one is so inclined to look critically at them. I do think it repulsive that the uber-conservative Islamic theology teaches that women should be subordinate to men. I find it abhorrent that some Muslim extremists choose to destroy huge numbers of innocent bystanders, and often themselves in the process, through violent means. What do you know about more liberal (small “l” liberal, not “L”iberal as in Democrat) sects of Islam? Anything? No, of course not.

I find it equally repulsive that so many so-called Christians are so quick to judge an entire population based on the actions of the few. Let he who is without sin… How about how, and this is a generalization, many conservatives who claim to hold Freedom above all else seek to control how a minority population chooses to practice its faith?

I tend to agree with many others on here that say why have you chosen to speak up now about bigotry? There are so many that play the race card with D’s beside their names including so called Reverends. Race has nothing to do with a group of individuals attempting to replace the Constitution with their own set of laws.

“redistribution of wealth” as you call it, how would you propose we fund the services necessary to the function of this country?”

Let me answer that in real lamen terms. No one complains about providing the needed functions of the government. Redistribution of wealth, a clause that eludes you continously, is subduing a large group of people and preventing them from having personal responsibility for their welfare. No one denies a helping hand but hardly anyone wants to take from their family to give to someone who is not looking after themselves.

-Why are you all of a sudden willing to manipulate the phrase “freedom of religion”?

-Wouldn’t you be furious if a presidential candidate flatly stated “No, I wouldn’t ever appoint a Jew to any position.”?

-If you can acknowledge that most Christians believe Westboro is a fringe Christian group, why can’t you acknowledge that most Muslims believe that Al Qaeda and the like are fringe Muslims who have distorted Islam?

Blah, blah, blah, how many times does it have to be said? We all are aware that only a small group of Muslims have the extremist views, I don’t hate Muslims, that isn’t what anyone is talking about here. I’m talking about the fact that there is nothing wrong with recognizing that the practice of Islam can turn violent more than any other religion on earth today. If you don’t believe that so be it. Furthermore, Herman Cain didn’t say “I’d properly vet potential Muslim cabinet members to see where his/her heart lies.” He said “No, I will not [appoint a Muslim].” Plain and simple.

And you have absolutely zero evidence, statistical or otherwise, to prove that “the practice of Islam can turn violent MORE than any other religion on earth today.” I can understand your fervor, 9/11 continues to eat away at us today. No, I won’t deny that there have been more of what you call “terrorist attacks” in the name of Islam in the last decade, but only because “terrorist attack” in the last decade has come to mean any act of violence perpetrated by a member of the Islamic faith. But, if we’re going to compare numbers on acts of violence by their perpetrator’s religious preference (which, i don’t know why the hell that’s useful in the first place, but i’ll oblige) the difference is negligible.

The only point here is that PEOPLE are violent. Why we have decided to extrapolate that out and believe that Muslims are violent more than any other religious followers is purely based on ignorance.

Organized religion has killed more people in the last thousand or so years than all of the wars we have fought and all of the diseases that we have conquered. Islam is just the “religion de jour”, the latest one in a long series of debacles that have had to put up with, but by far, the most dangerous. With 1.5B of these people world wide, we are at a definite disadvantage. Their doctrine, their elusive ambivalence toward other religions, their intolerance of others, their stand on woman’s rights, their spin on dealing with other cultures apart from their own……. it speaks volumes about who they are. If only they would take a substantive stand on the radical elements within their ranks and denounce what they are doing. But they remain mute most of the time, saying nothing. And we are supposed to trust them, allow them to build mosques, many of which are front organizations for raising money for the cause. Again, they are about as far as you can get from a “religion and I don’t want them on presidential cabinets, as judges in our court system or as my neighbor. I’ve seem about as much as I want to see about Islam.

My turn to chime in on the conversation.Herman Cain happens to be a very successful businessman,he stands up for what he believes,he’s not afraid of being called an “Uncle Tom”.That says lots about him right there. What was Obama’s track record ? Community organizer ? What did Obama accomplish ? What were his credentials ? Obama is half white too.
Herman Cain has two black parents. He is 100% a brother. He is fully qualified for political office.
The black community is failing due to their historical and current thought pattern.
Just because Mr.Cain is outspoken about Muslims, doesn’t mean he wouldn’t make a great leader.
Maybe he has black haters because there are lots of angry blacks that become muslims in America ?
Having an outspoken man in the White House is a good thing.
Now is a good time for Black America to recognize something that may be better for all people and change their way of thinking.
Get behind this brother,he’s right here in the Atl.
Support someone positive for a change and stop giving your money to Eddie Long,Al Sharpton,Jesses Jackson,John Lewis, and other reverands, unqualified self appointed so called black leaders
People like Cynthia Tucker and those that follow historical black thoughts and political patterns are keeping the black race dumbed down.
It’s not working folks and there are undisputed statistics support the failures.
The black community is in chaos with issues.
Mr.Cain could provide solid leadership, set by example.

You guys always gotta have a short answer ? There’s never an intelligent response that responds to character,it’s always about your color. It shows that you have been dumbed down, don’t get it ,probably never will. You have been culturally conditioned by your own people to a pattern of thought that is not working for you,or your community.
There are black people that have come to this country in the last 20 years from banana republics like Somalia,Ethiopia,Nigeria, that are so far ahead of the american black community in education, careers, family structure.
How come ?
Stop using race as a weak excuse,it’s an embarassment to them.
And oh yeah, they are not moving to College Park,Dekalb,or SW.They are my neighbors out here in Cherokee county .
Obama is doing nothing for you guys,in fact, the government is so broke, your parents may not get their social security checks next month.
Herman Cain is a businessman who understands, knows how to balance a budget,be a great example for young black men.
He’s just what you need.

1.”If a black kid is a very good student, has good dialect, doesn’t speak ebonics…..he’s acting white.”

Not all White kids are good students, I graduated from a 80% white school, please quit acting like the white race is superior to Blacks, hell It’s more whites on government benefits than Blacks..most Black parents want their children to do well in school, but School is not for everyone, but due to your race voting crooks into office, it’s not any jobs!..I admit that Obama has not been great, but you and I know that the color of his skin is a BIGGEST problem America has with him..And before you say “we elected him”, YOU HAD NO CHOICE..No way can a smart man think that Bush was a good president, and with Mccain, it was only going to get worse!

2.”When is the black community going to step up,make the right move to go in the right direction, instead of continuing in self hate and self defeat.

Oh really?..Well, right now America is about to fall under and it is not due to “the poor”.It’s due to 8 years of Reagon,4 years of Bush sr, and I shook my head when the so called “smart” people of America elected Bush Jr twice..He started 2 fake wars and rich Whites decided that they were not going to pay for it, thats why the country is in debt..When will Whites stop voting crooks into office?

Help me out with something here – Michelle Bachman is highly educated (law degree, masters in business), but liberals have been attacking her how? By suggesting her husband is gay. Now, neverrmind they have children of their own (along with a dozen or more foster kids they have helped raise), which would make him bi-sexual at a minimum, but doesn’t this mean the liberal attack hacks are suggesting being gay is morally wrong? You can dismiss it how you want by saying “we are just criticizing him hiding it,” or “he is a hypocrite,” but it all boils down in the end to you trying to have it both ways. That is, others should never tell someone else how to live their lives, especially when it comes to morals or sex, but if you are a conservative, then a liberal can toss out accusations, however wrong they may be, and not worry about what it says about their own predjudicies.

Americans need to wake up and smell the coffee: many Muslims main goal in life is to kill us, and to allow it and promote our own death “by religion” as one mentioned earlier is just plain stupid, like allot of comments made here. Hey CT, how’d you feel about having the KKK headquarters for the southern states build an office next to yours? Oh, that wouldn’t do? You must be a bigot then. Shouldn’t they be allowed to express their views like the Muslims who want to kill all of us? After all, not ALL of them are killers!

Bobby T

Honestly, I don’t understand all the fuss. As someone raised in the south, I grew up with conservative views, but as someone who grew up in Atlanta, I got to see the otherside of issues. Let them build their mosque if it makes them happy. Don’t force your religion and beliefs on me, and in the same respect, I’ll keep my beliefs to myself. Seems pretty simple until you let a bunch of bible thumpers get involved. Christians are way worse about expressing their views on a community than muslims. Either way, as long as they both stay away from my front door, then I’m fine with either religion and their freedom to practice in a country developed because of religious persecution.

Cain’s an uncle tom and will not get any votes from African-Americans or other liberals. He shouldn’t betray his people and run as a republican. They are all racist.

What’s wrong with Herman acting/trying to be white ?
Whites have a much lower crime rate, lower rate of out of wedlock birth rates, lower rate of sexually transmitted disease,we are more likely to finish high school, less likely to become a victim of violent crime, more likely to graduate from college, our neighborhoods are safer,we become more involved with our community,we fit into society better because we have more conservatives that act in eveyone’s interest, making our country a better place to live.
There are a lot of good hard working black people out here in Cherokee county that want nothing to do with you liberals in Fulton,Dekalb, counties. They feel safe out here. They don’t want to be stuck shopping at Wayfield Foods or having to pay first for their gas and dry cleaning.
They have told me and our other neighbors personally how you people think.
Your free ride is coming to an end as latinos, whites will eventually take over the city of Atlanta and only the qualified will be left standing.
Herman Cain is a good start,he will get rid of the waste in big government.

WELL WELL WELL…. Its amazing how many BIGOTS have commented on this story. Its really surprising to see how many people that comment have serious issues with Islamophobia…

“See what happened in Oslo” … Yeah.. IT WAS A RIGHT WING CHRISTIAN … NOT MUSLIM who carried out the attacks… OH! but wait! I guess that doesn’t count… right?

Any terror related attack anywhere in the world is automatically aimed at Muslims… That just goes to show how much Bigotry the GOP and Tea-Party idiots have…

I’m ashamed to call myself an American….

“At least 85 dead in Norway youth camp attack
Premier says ‘my youth paradise’ has turned into ‘hell’; police say suspect’s website indicates he was a right-wing, Christian fundamentalist” …. —- NOW SAY SOMETHING!

Just wait and see how “peaceful” some of those muslims turn out to be. This country will pay the ultimate price for letting them settle in America. It’s just a matter of time.

I guess you would rather round-up all the Muslims and put them in armed camps like the Japanese after Pearl Harbor. Did you ever study history?

Since you listed all the reasons why one would want to be white…I am going to list some reasons why I would not want to be white…you have more white collar/blue collar crimes, rapists, perverts, crocked politicians, divorce, hate crimes, and a very sordid past. Herman Cain was never a serious contender for the Republican nominee for president. He would never, ever win. He simply does not have the requisite experience for dealing with a difficult job as the President of the United States. The sooner he’s gone, the better.

He's Right

July 23rd, 2011
2:38 pm

Cynthia … well written article but I hate to tell you Herman is right on this one. He is rarely right on anything in my opinion and I would never vote for him, but he is right. Building a Mosque is simply a local zoning issue, just like a Dairy Queen, Gas Station or Laundromat. If the vast majority of citizens living in Murfreesboro don’t want that mosque, then they can ensure it does not get zoning permits.

It’s called little “r” Republicanism not to be confused with a Republican.

i am not brainwashed..i know the truth!.Blacks do commit more crimes, but Whites do the worse crimes! they brainwash their own people, only to screw them in the end. they crashed a plane into a building killing thousands of people. Only to use it as an excuse to go fight Iraq and kill thousands of innocent people?.Whites lied to get to Vietnam, they are the only people to drop a nuclear bomb on a country, even though the war had been won..Or how about when whites decided that it was okay to steal an election for Bush so he could continue to screw America up..Whites supported Hitler. They recently even faked bin Ladin’s death, even though everyone knew that he died in 2002, and white people went for it! They knew pearl harbor was going to happen, but they let it occur anyway just so they could try out their little toy! Don’t let me start on the whole treatment of Blacks in America…etc..etc…So yes i am proud to be Black and Cain is a piece of %^&*! But their are some smart Whites and most always seem to be Democrats!

Cynthia (Soros) Tucker are you calling the kettel black? Cynthia you are one of the most racist people on earth. Be careful of criticizing others of something you live for. Most of the progressive liberals are racist and they hide behind criminal organizations like Acorn, NAACP, SPLC, GLADD, Media Matters, MoveOn.org, and others. The DNC is becoming just as bad as these groups anymore.

He’s right @ 2:38 PM:

No, you and Herman are wrong. It is not a simple zoning issue. If you don’t believe that, see what happens when the Muslims in Mufreesboro go to court about this, and see who wins ultimately. I don’t like Muslim terrorists either and don’t want them here , but t doesn’t mean all Muslims are evil and want to take over the country.
