In O’Reilly interview, Obama wins

The much-hyped pre-game interview with President Obama was a slow-scoring game, but the president got the better of it. It started off with Obama having “home-field advantage.” The interview featured a relaxed Obama in the White House, with Fox News host Bill O’Reilly starting the interview by thanking Obama for his administration’s rescue of Fox News journalists who had been detained in Egypt.

Of course, the State Department would work to rescue American journalists. But given the day-in, day-out tone of White House coverage of Obama, you’d think he’d rather see Fox News journalists shot.
I think Obama scores points anytime he sits for a Fox interview, because independents (the few who watch Fox) see a guy who isn’t afraid to walk into the lion’s den. But Obama was particularly deft in this interview. If I may switch sports metaphors, O’Reilly didn’t lay a glove on him.

“obesity in kids is staggering” — is is staggering in adults . . who happens to be raising the kids . . obese parents usually have obese kids!!! Just get you a seat in a park, at the mall, wherever and watch the people. Whenever you see obese kids . . . you’ll usually see obese parents. One thing that contributes to that is more and more people are holding out their hands to the government and if they would get their fat fannies up and work maybe they wouldn’t be obese!!

Ya’ll be careful with that racist talk now. I remember watching the news last year and a white council member was talking about defunding a city program that was a waste of money. He said the program was just sucking up money and money just kept disappearing into this black hole. Naturally the 2 black councilmen were deeply offended by the white councilman’s racism and demanded an apology or that the councilman resign. No- You can’t make up stuff like this.

Moral of the story- if you’re talking to a couple of ignoramuses who probably don’t know basic 7th grade science then you best not be talking about cosmic phenomena like black holes. You could end up being a bigot and not even know it.

CT, Granny and the rest of you liberal nut jobs are full of it!! You enjoy listening to yourself talk, even though none of it makes sense! Bill OReilly would never embarrass the President on national TV! You are fools to think he would. His views are different than the President on most issues. He has occassionally agreed and thanked the President on some issues. OReilly is a man who has started at the bottom(as a school teacher) and has worked his way up. He has not had a silver spoon in his mouth from the beginning as some have? I am an Independent and most of the time do not agree with the President but would never attempt to embarrass him also!

Good Grief, what a little whiner you are. Amazing! I read that Rush Limbaugh was mocking about journalists being beaten in Egypt until it was reported that Fox news journalists were among them – then ‘he was only kidding’. There are far too many crass insults on all sides. The remarks made about President Obama (and his wife)are so ugly, but no one on the right seems to hear them, although many watch Glen Beck every night.
The Right – Marxist, nazi, unAmerican, other, not like us, liar, apes, etc.
The Left – ‘holding unemployed Americans hostage’

Wow – isn’t the left so uncivil! It’s a joke!

Keep up,

Just having fun remarking about Obama’s speech up at Penn State last week. The mascot for Joe Paterno and Penn State is the nittany lions. Penn State is situated in the nittany valley. Anyway, Obama butchered it during the speech and called them the litally or litany lions- something like that. You would think that if this guy grew up a sports fan that he would know that Penn State is the nittany lions. And that if he didn’t that he would get it right before the speech rather than embarrass himself as well as Joe Paterno and the Penn State faculty and student body.

I guess even if the facts play out on live tv, there are those repubs who will always believe the hype they have been told. Trying to talk over the President was rude but what else would you expect for someone like O’Reilly. The President showed great poise and class while ole Bill resorted to looking like the goober he is. Sometimes you think a person would get tired of acting and looking like a boob. But I guess Bill does not care.

So Granny: Are you saying that you agree with Mitt Romney’s plan of mandated insurance and what he implemented in MA? (i.e. You support a GOP state policy).

Do you know if this is working in MA?

What happens if someone can’t afford to buy private insurance and they can’t afford the $1000 tax/fine?

What then? Will they be out $1000 and still have no insurance? It’s seems like it might be cheaper to just pay the fine and continue to use ER services for routine care.

I’m not saying I agree/disagree with the mandate, but the policy does have holes to which no one has addressed. It makes sense in theory, but the constitutionality of it cannot be ignored. I can understand paying a tax to government, but to be forced to purchase a consumer product does make for an interesting federal case.

Do believe the free market and insurance companies will regulate and lower the cost of health care?

Also, why don’t Americans just freely purchase insurance as it is as important as shelter, food, and more important than a big screen tv.
Let me answer this one: Because the marjoity of Americans are too stupid to to prioritize what’s truly important in life. Instead, they need to be ‘forced’ into doing the right thing for themselves and their children. Americans do not how to make their kids a breakfast or lunch, so the government has to provide one….So basically, I agree with you. Let’s force Americans to buy insurance because let’s face it…they are too stupid to figure that someday they’ll need healthcare! Thanks Granny for enlightening me on how dumb Americans are!!

“CT has shown us the problem with politics today with her title for this rant… it shouldn’t be about someone winning and someone losing. That sort of thought hasn’t served us well for the past several decades.”

Huge dittoes here. You nailed it. To Tucker, THE President, appearing on Fox News is a “debate” first, an interview second. (An exclusive appearance by our most over-exposed President on MSNBC every day is just objective journalism, right?) Despite this thing called reality, it must always be so for Tucker. Civil Cynthia (or CC) as we should now call her, is so offended by objective analysis of HIM that she can’t admit that an interview might just simply be that. Any press event must be considered a success if it does not reveal the glaring weaknesses of his floundering presidency or the well-known history that prior to becoming leader of the free world, the President had no management, leadership or exective experience whatever.

I would guess that even as Fox News’ ratings are high, that there were probably lots of people who were turning off their TV sets for this interview. We who recognize that Fox is the leader in its diaspora, can not always stomach seeing the emperor naked.

Of course, the lovelorn CC probably bought a 72″ hi-def TV and created a shrine for the occasion.

However, this forum is another matter. Civl Cynthia (CC) has shown herself to be an unprincipled purveyor of nonsense, fond of ignoring her critics. No one, and I mean no one here at ajc neglects to defend her own blog as much as she does.

Why is this, CC, that you remain so silent? Why is it that your weak arguments are rarely arguments at all, but just us-them ad hominem name calling?

Even this question, forward as it is, might beget a harsh rebuke from the Bookman, which I would deserve and accept, but….. Well, have a good night CC; you’ve worked your thirty minutes today.

False Evidence Appearing Real (FEAR)

February 7th, 2011
2:53 pm

JackLeg@1:58 – “False Evidence” is clear reference to fear-mongering, trumped up dribble, lies, half-truths and other such tactics used by those of you on the right as a means to scare and frighten the ill-informed masses. It’s the only tactic you people have when substantive truth gets in the way of making a political point.

Some basic Obama tax cut facts:
Obama has passed 25 separate tax cuts.
Obama’s stimulus package included $300 billion in middle class tax cuts — one of the largest in history.
The recent healthcare reform law includes tax credits and savings for small businesses and working people.
Unlike President Bush’s 2001 tax cuts, which went to the wealthiest 2.2%, President Obama’s tax cuts overwhelmingly benefit working and middle class families — 95% of all Americans.
Here are some of the new tax credits available through the Recovery Act alone that you may be eligible for:

The Making Work Pay tax credit – Ninety-five percent of working families are already receiving the Recovery Act’s Making Work Pay tax credit of $400 for an individual or $800 for married couples filing jointly in their 2009 paychecks – and will continue to see these benefits in 2010.
Tax credits for college expenses – Families and students are eligible for up to $2,500 in tax savings under the American Opportunity Credit as well as enhanced benefits under 529 college savings plans, which help families and students pay for college expenses.
The Homebuyers tax credit – Homebuyers can get a credit – up to $8,000 for first-time home buyers and up to $6,500 for upgrade homebuyers – for homes under contract by April 30, 2010 and purchased by June 30, 2010 under the Homebuyer tax credit. Over 1.7 million households have already taken advantage of the First Time Homebuyers tax credit.
Tax credits for energy efficient renovations – Taxpayers are eligible for up to $1,500 in tax credits for making energy-efficient improvements to their homes, such as adding insulation and installing energy efficient windows.
The vehicle sales tax deduction – Taxpayers can deduct the state and local sales taxes they paid for new vehicles purchased from Feb. 17, 2009 through Dec. 31, 2009 under the vehicle sales tax deduction.
Expanded family tax credits – Moderate income families with children may be eligible for an increase in the Earned Income Tax Credit and the additional Child Tax Credit.
Tax-free unemployment benefits – Thanks to the Recovery Act, individuals who received unemployment insurance in 2009 do not have to pay taxes on the first $2,400 of such earnings.

You’re Welcome.

Sorry dude but I don’t think anyone respects a degree in sociology or Afr American studies- no matter where the degree is from.

And I didn’t just make fun of Obama’s Penn State gaffe. I also made fun of when he stated his campaign had been to 57 states and his belief that Austrians speak Austrian. If he knew the most basic history he would have known that when Hitler went into Austria-Hungary he was welcomed. Why? Because the Austrians are culturally very similar to the Germans and they even speak German. How does this man not know such basic stuff as this?

And last. Why is it the man refuses to release the transcripts of his grades at Harvard??? Why??? I think you and I both know that he probably got into Harvard via racial preferences and when its all said and done he probably just barely skated by- hence his refusal to release his grades. You still haven’t answered as to why he refuses to release his grades.

Granny: I have mulitple citizenship to several socialist countries, so I have no worries about healthcare personnally. I would caution Americans to be careful what they wish for and be ready for cost increases (i.e. make sure to put a good chunck of money aside in preparation for helathcare reform). In Canada, we pay 100% tax on gas – no joke – to help fund government programs. (Canadians are paying over $6.00/gallon today). Canada also has a 15% sales tax, not to mention our income tax is higher and there are no tax breaks on mortgage interest. Home ownership is extremely difficult in Canada based on property taxes and tight control of the banking industry. When it comes to healthcare coverage you will miss out on latest advancements in treatment as the government has full control of what drugs are deemed ‘affordable’. For example, a relative of mine has severe psorisis for which the US has multiple biological drugs to treat the condition with. US insurance companies cover this treatment, but in Canada, her dermatologist just laughed when we asked about sourcing this biological drug. There is no way for her to purchase this treatment even if she wanted to pay for it herself because of governement control of drug availability. I’m sure Canada is 10-15 years away from paying for this needed treatment, but my relative is 70, so it will not matter much by then. I will caution that social healthcare programs do ‘assign’ you a doctor and it’s extremely difficult to change your primary care physician if you don’t like him/her. I’m in the fortunate position of being able to live in either the US, Canada, or within the EU and I personally like the current US system of healthcare where I have flexibility and choice.
