NAACP should have left the tea party alone

There are about 100,000 excellent causes the NAACP could take up right now— countless crusades that would elevate people of color, strengthen human rights and weaken discrimination. Launching a broadside against the Tea Party isn’t one of them.

I am disappointed that Ben Jealous insisted on forging ahead with a campaign against the Tea Party. It will backfire badly. The WaPo’s Dana Milbank outlines some of the more inflammatory rhetoric that NAACP officials used in a conference call yesterday:

The Rev. William Barber, president of the North Carolina NAACP chapter, used his time on the conference call to liken the Tea Partyers to southern racists during Reconstruction and church bombers and assassins during the civil rights era.

“We have to have particular concern about supremacy attitudes, violence, hate language, particularly when it’s rooted in notions of restoring or taking back or redeeming the country,” Barber said. “Because, in the American social-historical-political psyche, we have historical markers that tell us how dangerous this is to be given legitimacy.”

For instance:

“We know in 1867 when the Ku Klux Klan, for instance, laid out its political purposes, it was about restoring and re-enfranchising, if you will.”

“And then when you go to the Reconstruction Era, you find this same attempt to spew this division, this hate language out…. ‘We need to restore America. We need to take it back.’”

Barber moved on to 1963. “When George Wallace used this language and themes of division, very vitriolic hate language,” Barber said, “Medgar Evers was killed in June of that year… We had the bombing of a church, four girls were killed at Sunday school and then we had a president assassinated.”

Oh, for heaven’s sake. I remember the church bombings of 1963. I remember George Wallace. And I tell you that these times are nothing like those. Barber is guilty of doing the very things that so many tea party activists do — making such exaggerated claims that they hold absolutely no credibility. Obama is a Nazi? That’s crazy. Tea partiers are like Birmingham church bombers? That’s crazy, too.

Here is my prediction: Tea party supporters will use the NAACP’s report to claim that the organization painted all tea partiers — and all Obama critics — as racists. And the tea party will win the cage match.

I think the NAACP paid off NPR to fire Juan so that the country would not focus on the race card they just played. Heaven knows they are not going to defend Juan.

It took a while for those of us supporting the Tea Party to figure out that we had infiltrators trying to distort our image. In any large group of people there will be some who are fringe such as the “Nazi” sign carriers. They are now soundly denounced. To say that all Tea Party people are racist is as idiotic as claiming that all in the NAACP are racist! I an sure that there are some there, but not all! This is true of the Tea Party as well!

Amen Lack49. I am a proud member and we will make a difference on 11/02. Then we will hold the Republicans responsible as well. They had better do what is best for the country.

By the way, Soros gave NPR $1.8 mm this past week and Juan gets fired. Coincidence? I think not. Time to defund NPR and let Soros bankroll it honestly. They will go the way of Air America within a year.

Vivian Schiller is the daughter of Ronald Schiller, a former editor at Reader’s Digest, and Lillian Schiller of Larchmont, New York.[3] She graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor’s degree in Russian studies and Soviet studies, and a Master’s degree in Russian from Middlebury College.[4]

Prior to leading NPR, Schiller was a senior vice president of NYTimes.com.

Before joining the Times Company, Ms. Schiller worked for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. as executive vice president for CNN Productions.

A Republican that graduated from Cornell in Russian Studies and was a senior vice president of the New York Times after being a big dog at CNN.

And she was a Republican, you say, huh? CNN, New York Times, NPR and studied Russian.

Why she’s practically Ronald Reagan!!

NPR just fired the only Black Journalist they have. it’s now as white as the new fallen snow.

Those wacky Democrats. Could it be that NIF has been right about the way Democrats REALLY think about Black people? They wouldn’t even let him come in to talk about it and this is after ten years of his work that has done nothing but given them great ratings and raised untold amounts of money.

Then they start calling him a wacko.

Let this be a lesson to you. You say the wrong thing and it doesn’t matter how long you have been their mouth piece. They will throw you under the bus just like Juan.

I’ve tried to warn you, but you are just a tool. Once that tool stops working for them, that tool is gone.

You wrote an article today that was approaching fairness. I would say that you have a couple of more of those and you will be gone just like Juan.

I would submit that the NAACP is a racist organization, and should be looked upon by law enforcement in the same light as the aforementioned KKK, as well as the myriad other racist/hate groups that exist. Don’t even get me started on ACORN……

I just got home from a 12 hour day at work and 3 hours of volunter work, and “nothing is free” is still blogging since this morning………get a life……CT is not worth it!!!!
This is a ‘normal’ day for me. I run a business (employing 25 people) and give of my time and money to help others after work. I also pay 30%+ of my income in taxes and the likes of CT say I don’t do enought and should pay more!!!
I am a conservative and believe that everyone has the opportunity to do better…..some have more opportunity than others…..but that each should strive and have to opportunity to do the best that they can do. Not depend on the ’system’ to provide for them.
So tommorow it is back to work, providing a good service, that others are willing and able to pay for. Providing work and income for 25 people and their families, and hopefuly, at the end of the day there is income, over expenses, to provide for my family. But CT, et al believe that I am the enemy.

11 day and counting till we can begin to put an end to this madness…….

Just in case you were still awake and aware.

“The Gods of the Copybook Headings” is a poem published by Rudyard Kipling in 1919. The central message of the poem is that basic and unvarying aspects of human nature will always re-emerge in every society.

The copybook headings to which the title refers were proverbs or maxims printed at the top of 19th century British schoolboys’ notebook pages. The students had to write them by hand repeatedly down the page.

The Gods of the Copybook Headings

AS I PASS through my incarnations in every age and race,
I make my proper prostrations to the Gods of the Market Place.
Peering through reverent fingers I watch them flourish and fall,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings, I notice, outlast them all.

We were living in trees when they met us. They showed us each in turn
That Water would certainly wet us, as Fire would certainly burn:
But we found them lacking in Uplift, Vision and Breadth of Mind,
So we left them to teach the Gorillas while we followed the March of Mankind.

We moved as the Spirit listed. They never altered their pace,
Being neither cloud nor wind-borne like the Gods of the Market Place,
But they always caught up with our progress, and presently word would come
That a tribe had been wiped off its icefield, or the lights had gone out in Rome.

With the Hopes that our World is built on they were utterly out of touch,
They denied that the Moon was Stilton; they denied she was even Dutch;
They denied that Wishes were Horses; they denied that a Pig had Wings;
So we worshipped the Gods of the Market Who promised these beautiful things.

When the Cambrian measures were forming, They promised perpetual peace.
They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the wars of the tribes would cease.
But when we disarmed They sold us and delivered us bound to our foe,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: “Stick to the Devil you know.”

On the first Feminian Sandstones we were promised the Fuller Life
(Which started by loving our neighbour and ended by loving his wife)
Till our women had no more children and the men lost reason and faith,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: “The Wages of Sin is Death.”

In the Carboniferous Epoch we were promised abundance for all,
By robbing selected Peter to pay for collective Paul;
But, though we had plenty of money, there was nothing our money could buy,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: “If you don’t work you die.”

Then the Gods of the Market tumbled, and their smooth-tongued wizards withdrew
And the hearts of the meanest were humbled and began to believe it was true
That All is not Gold that Glitters, and Two and Two make Four
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings limped up to explain it once more.

As it will be in the future, it was at the birth of Man
There are only four things certain since Social Progress began.
That the Dog returns to his Vomit and the Sow returns to her Mire,
And the burnt Fool’s bandaged finger goes wabbling back to the Fire;

And that after this is accomplished, and the brave new world begins
When all men are paid for existing and no man must pay for his sins,
As surely as Water will wet us, as surely as Fire will burn,
The Gods of the Copybook Headings with terror and slaughter return!

Now if the Anti-Defamation League had a campaign against the Tea Party, Cynthia Tucker WOULD NOT OPEN HER MOUTH.

But let the NAACP call out the Tea Party Racists, and Tucker has a problem. The Tea Party would be non-existent without a black president. Anyone who says otherwise is a bald-faced liar.

Since I understand her role at the AJC, I’m not surprised at all.

Her duty is to neutralize and smear every “controversial” black person/organization possible. That way, the AJC can bash any and everything “black”, without being labeled racist.

Her track list is long: The King Family, NAACP, Rev. Sharpton, Rev. Jackson, Cynthia McKinney, Rev. Wright, Morris Brown College, Hip-Hop, Mayor Bill Campbell, Vernon Jones, etc.– and that’s just off the top of my head. Oh… and she also wants to end Black History Month. Who needs it? I mean, we’re post-racial now right?

Way to go Cynthia! Show them you can be “fair” and “balanced”. Who knows, they might even give you a cookie one day.

TIM, YOU: “The Tea Party would be non-existent without a black president. Anyone who says otherwise is a bald-faced liar.”
Glad to know that you are the ultimate determiner of why people do what they do. In the future, we should all check with you first. And you are special how? Instead of recognizing that people may have differing opinions, you’ve made it simple and chose the right-thinking path for us. Very thoughful. Everyone has some bigotry and racism, Tim. But apparently, in your world, Tim is King, and his subjects must always agree with him. Very open-minded, Tim. Lose the hate and maybe you’ll have something to offer.

Faced with this truly puzzling conundrum, Dr. Obama diagnoses a heretofore undiscovered psychological derangement: anxiety-induced Obama Underappreciation Syndrome, wherein an entire population is so addled by its economic anxieties as to be neurologically incapable of appreciating the “facts and science” undergirding Obamacare and the other blessings their president has bestowed upon them from on high.

Either that or we think he’s an idiot, just sayin…

Instead, Iraqis are turning to neighboring nations, and especially Iran, for guidance – casting doubt on the future of the U.S. role in this strategic country after a grinding war that killed more than 4,400 American soldiers.

Another war lost by the dummycrats.

Snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, they did. Once again.

The days of the words racist meaning anything are over. Also are the days of being called a racist. I have been called racist for some of the stupidest reasons. I have one standard reply. SO???? The days of political correctness are fast coming to an end. The firing of Juan Williams at NPR just kicked it in high gear and made it an issue in the mid terms.

The National Association of Complaining People lost their mission a long time ago. This is nothing more than a ploy to rally the black vote so those dam racists don’t get back in power. Do they get money from George Soros too?
