Feet on the desk in the Oval Office! Who cares?

Some folks are offended

Some folks are offended

The caption at the top was added by some folks on a conservative Web site, who were deeply offended that Obama had his feet on the desk.

bush-feet-deskOffended by either of these photos?

They weren’t nearly as offended when W did the same thing. As for me, I couldn’t care less about either president’s sartorial habits: Take your jacket off. Take your socks off, if you like. Just get the job done.(h/t wonkette)

“Take your jacket off. Take your socks off, if you like. Just get the job done.”

2 for 2 today Cynthia. I couldn’t agree more!

You need to go back to your biased, hypocritical opinions. I don’t like agreeing with you! :)

Fair enough. Can you come up with photographic evidence of another trivial incident where Dems have done the exact same thing and had an OH MY GOD! moment when a REP did it?

Like I said. You know as well as I do that both parties are only out for themselves and re-election. Both parties have done this the past 100 yrs or whatever. And to think otherwise is naive. The Senate is just a bunch of children on both sides of the aisle. Both sides cry bipartisanship, yet neither side is willing to work when it comes down to. Both sides like to stick it to the other.

Oh, so it came from a “conservative web post”.

Well, when other presidents had their pictures taken, there were not “Conservative, or liberal web posts” . There was no web for that matter. If you want to search high and low searching for every opinion known to mankind, and compare that opinion to a time where there were 3 TV channels, you are comparing apples to apples.

I see where the Drudge report says isralies and arabs are offended too, because of some weird arab fetish about feet, was that reported too?

Let me guess, you use hard hitting analysis to prove that conservatives are hypocrites. Is that what you are angling for?

We could do a “Caption of the Day” contest with the pictures.

Top picture: “How can we screw America over today”

Or

“What did I tell you guys. My only experience is as a Community Organizer. I don’t know anything about creating jobs or running a business.”

The bottom one:
” Fool me once… How the hell does that go again?”

Cynthia, I am still trying to see the “outraged comments” at the top of the first photo. I think you are making a bigger deal of this than anybody else is. Were you equally outraged when the media constantly made fun of Bush? I am sure you weren’t. You probably led the effort.

Mr Charlie

February 19th, 2010
3:13 pm

Cynthia, what would you make of it if the mainstream media harped on Obama being “stupid” and “unintelligent” and “simple minded” like they did with Bush?

The fact is, Bush, like Obama, I am sure were very smart guys, but somehow, bush got cast as an idiot. What are your thoughts on that?

I am sure if Obama was treated like Bush, you would have a lot to say.

That is probably much more relevant than comparing media reporting of 1972 to 2010.

Yeah, no one cares. And if they do care, they can take up a collection, buy him a new desk and put that one in a museum. I’m guessing that every President for the past hundred years (except for FDR) has had his feet up on that desk.

It’s pure and simple foolishness.

Are both parties guilty of this kind of thing? Yes.

BUT….the last 2 years the right has raised the level of foolishness
and vitriole to a level higher than I have ever seen in my 35 years of voting.

It didn’t work in 2008 so I hope they keep it up.

Cynthia, I like you when you reported in Atlanta, I agreed with a lot of your analysis, I always thought that you “got it” in that education and hard work is what it takes to be successful ( and you are exhibit A.)

However, you have become very lazy, and your analysis very weak.

I think Charlie’s comment was meant to question why some random complaint that Cynthia Tucker found on the Internet is worth a post here. This hardly qualifies as a genuine controversy; it’s certainly not being reported in any other major media outlet.

I’m sure anybody with access to the Internet could find example of Obama supporters criticizing Bush for things that Obama has subsequently done. Unless the goal is simply mindless partisanship (as opposed to rational partisansip), there was no reason for Cynthia to draw attention to the gripes of some unnamed Internet blogger.

Obammy makes as many gaffes as did W. Recent teleprompter speech, he said cor”P”sman, not once but many times. I doubt if he even knows what a corpsman is. Mainstream media doesn’t talk about it when it’s a lib.

Granny, the “Right” has raised it, really???? I think you need to look a little harder. The right has ONE outlet that can be perceived as working in their favor. The left has everything else. NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, CNN, AP, Reuters, NY Times….. These media outlets would take every opportunity they could to take a swipe at Bush. They even fabricated stories about his National Guard history. Surely, you must remember that….you know..the whole thing with CBS and Dan Rather. Who did the media support during the election? That’s right. Obama could no harm while McCain and Palin were portrayed as the worst thing that could ever happen to America. Did you ever see any coverage of Obama and his radical ties from the MSM? Nope. Did you ever hear about Obama and his close ties to domestic terrorist Bill Ayers. Nope. Let’s contrast that with what we are hearing right now about the guy in Austin. The MSM is all about tying him into Conservatives and the Tea Partyers even though there still isn’t a whole lot of evidence that says he was one. Meanwhile, they have applied minimal hype to Amy Bishop, an avid Obama supporter. Why is that? What has the media done with Obama since he came into power? They have treated him like a king. They are in bed with the guy. A White House reporter even said early into his presidency that it is so hard to find anything wrong with him when he is always doing the right thing. So please….stop blaming the right for the “vitriole” and “acrimony” when it was the left that created this terrible political environment.

That was one paragraph I wrote. All of the sentences in it relate to one another.

Perhaps I should even

putting

a

space

between

each

word

so

that

it

reads

more

clearly.
