To El Jefe - and no Hitler (etc). Poor argument. Actually (in my opinion) we would have been better off without a Margaret Thatcher and I'm not that enthusiastic about Popes either - but there you are!

CJ

Point taken, CJ, but don’t forget about all the unwanted children who grow up to rob, kill, go to prison, go insane, and/or become inadequate parents themselves.

If we’re going to make the emotional argument, let’s look at it from all sides, so we’re not deceived by those who don’t know what they’re talking about.

CJ, the take on you who oppose legal abortion these days is that you love the fetus but hate the mother and child. Can you understand why other folks would see you in this light?

Maybe this is where you and others like you should concentrate all your emotional energies, and maybe then, more pregnant women would go to term as a matter of choice, not because someone like you made them!

And how dare you say you speak for God, CJ, when you can’t even do the few simple things he said you must do for salvation. You don’t, my friend, and the sooner you realize this and get yourself out on the straight-and-narrow path to him, the better.

Jesus told the hypocrites of his time to get the logs out of their own eyes before attempting to help others with their motes. I’m sure you’ve heard this teaching before and understand it as well, so why aren’t you living it?

In the real religion of Christ, evil is to be fought with good, and good is “Doing unto others what you would have others do unto you” and doing it for God alone. It’s all about love, CJ, and this is impotency? Do they teach this impotency in your little church? If they do, then you might want to consider leaving it as quickly as possible, for they’re not telling you his truth.

Add to this that Jesus taught us how to live in the only way that works - and he didn’t mince words - and you finally have what being a real Christian is all about. But many weak ones can’t live his way and won’t even try. Like “wolves in sheep's clothing,” they hide behind the Christian teachings to do their evil instead of good and do it for themselves instead of God. Are you one of these, sir? For your sake, I sincerely hope not.

Let everyone else bond with their Lord and Savior in the way Jesus said, and help them overcome what’s wrong in the world by doing it yourself as well, not working against them. Like I said, when you’re living it, you’re understanding it. And when you’re finally understanding it, sir, you’ll be helping others to understand it as well, for this is what Jesus told us to do.

So do you still believe this Jesus is impotent? CJ, maybe you should strongly reconsider your very foolish belief!

Tom, Your god is impotent, and a whimp, and definitely not the God of the Bible who parted the Red Sea. That's all I'm saying about that. Jesus was no whimp, he whipped the money changers out of the temple, and condemned people who hurt children to a horrible death (millstone?)
How dare you say that God would tell someone to abort their precious child! This is the God who told Mary, an unwed poor mother she was having the Messiah!

CJ: You have own view of god and you’ve made up a nice little religion, so have fun and think what you want to think while the real world passes you by.

My “nice little religion,” CJ, is the Christianity as taught by Jesus, and it’s not passing me by one iota. In case no one taught you in that nice little church of yours, Christianity is not an academic pursuit. If you’re not living it, you’re not understanding it, and that tells me a lot about who you are, my friend.

Yes, charity can help, but it’s never enough for all the people needing it. In addition to organizations that only feed the homeless, and The Salvation Army that does more, there are organizations that help unwed mothers, and I have given to all three, plus help an individual regularly who never has enough while raising her two young children. You’re preaching to the choir on this, CJ.

But in an economy and world like this one, do you feel confident enough in your charity-for-all approach to unwed motherhood to still demand that all impregnated women carry their fetuses to term? Really?

Since the last part of the Bush administration until now, many billionaires have become millionaires, millionaires have gone relatively broke, and let’s not even talk about what’s happened to the rest of us. Add to this that many, many charities are complaining loudly that few are still giving, yet the demand by folks needing help these days has increased dramatically.

So you still want to tell a woman that she must go ahead with her giving birth because charity will always be there to help? That, sir, would be a lie, and it would be a lie in good times as well. Charities have never been a cure-all for anything, and they never will be. And many women get no help at all.

And why would you want to tell her that God wants her to carry her fetus to term when you have no more clue what God wants her to do than anyone else on the political right? You don’t, you know?

If you were the kind of Christian Jesus taught us all to be, you would be one believing in his “Love the lord your God with all your heart, mind, and soul” and “Do unto others what you would have others do unto you.”

And since you don’t seem to understand either of these well enough to apply them to a woman struggling with a monumental decision that will affect her, her child if brought into this troubled world, and the world itself, then I can’t believe you’re really trying to live them.

Let me say it again, my friend, it’s not your call to tell her what to do. And neither is it your right to step in the middle of her living the very relationship with God that Jesus said we must live - to try and make her do something entirely different than God may want her to do.

Try living the real Christianity first, CJ - the Christianity as taught by Jesus, and then form your opinion about which of our religions is the correct one. From my perspective, your’s is the one having no real bearing on anything in this world or the next, and maybe it’s you who need to come out of the corner and learn to live the right way.

But if you still don’t want to do this, CJ, then at least recognize the monumental task any woman has before her with bringing a child into this troubled world, especially those alone for one reason or another, and let her relationship with God be the determining factor of whether or not to go forward with an unwanted pregnancy.

My friend, you’re not smart enough to make her decision for her, and, like I said, it’s not your call anyway!

Tom, I see you haven't been to church in a while, huh? You have no clue as to what goes on there, the souls they care for, feed, clothe, etc.

And what about the Salvation Army? I know you've heard of them? EVERYONE has! they're a CHRISTIAN organization, but they do NOT discriminate on helping the needy...not ONE BIT!

Including this abortion garbage in the health care bill just shows how stupid the democrats really are. They finally get an opportunity to draft a bill that they have been wanting for decades, and instead of a moderate, common sense, down the middle approach, they choose to throw in funding for abortion? This is one of the most controversial, divisive topics in politics and they are willing to risk everything to satisfy the pro-choice crowd? I think it is obvious that the democrats are their own worse enemy.
