Part II: A bad man, not a bad religion

You can usually see the warning signs with the 20/20 vision of hindsight, of course. So it is with Army psychiatrist Nidal Hasan, who allegedly went on a killing spree at Ft. Hood, Texas last week, mowing down dozens, killing 13.

Now, after he has already killed many and maimed others, investigators are finding evidence that Hasan was, at the very least, deeply troubled. Perhaps the most obvious sign was a lecture he gave a year and a half ago, in which he warned that Muslims soldiers should be allowed to duck out of fighting against fellow Muslims to avoid “adverse events.”

“It’s getting harder and harder for Muslims in the service to morally justify being in a military that seems constantly engaged against fellow Muslims,” he said in the presentation.

The first thing to note is this: Many Muslim Americans who are serving courageously in the U.S. Armed Forces disagree strenously.

Some of the thousands of Muslims in the U.S. military worry that one burst of violence could unravel all of their work to be accepted as loyal, dedicated soldiers, and that their reputation could be another casualty of the attack.

ad_icon

“Just as this guy in Fort Hood doesn’t represent every single Muslim in the world or in this county, the few ignorant or racist people that remain in the military, they are so few and far between, they do not represent the military at large,” said Ashkan Bayatpour, 25, a U.S. Navy veteran and the American-born son of Iranian immigrants.

You can hardly blame them for worrying, since so many commentators and some politicians are rushing to stigmatize all Muslim soldiers.
The second thing to note is this: The military has never fully come to terms with the emotional trauma of war; but, since the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan, it has tried to do better, stepping up its efforts to treat combat stress. That may have led officers to overlook Hasan’s own mental problems; after all, the military needed psychiatrists.
It’s now clear the Army has to do a better job of making sure its mental health professionals are up to the task.

The only thing good I can say about Islam is that it has had only 1400 years, a bit less actually, to fail to improve. By 1400 Christianity was also pretty awful. Will Islam become better in the next 500 years? Who knows?

So this guy yelling “Allah Akkbah” as he is murdering people doesn’t really mean anything to you? The fact that the majority of violence in the world is perpetuated by muslims in the name of islam doesn’t cause you to link things together?
I don’t know if islam is a bad or good religion…Certainly the actions of it’s practitioners have to make you wonder sometimes….I am going to give islam itself, the benefit of the doubt, whether it deserves it or not, but you cannot ignore these simple facts about people who practice islam and the problem is indeed wide spread, they are racists and anti-Semites, they are sexist and abusive towards women, and they murder with imputnity…You’d have to be dumber than mule dung to think the problem is small and isolated. Facts show it as global and wide spread. In fact, Islamic violence is so prevalent, you don’t even hear about it much any more. The beheadings and kidnappings in Indonesia and the Philipines, the ethnic cleansing in Somalia, the gang rapes and murders of the civilians in Chad, Sudan, and Darfur perpetuated by the Jinjaweed, who are self proclaimed muslim soldiers…
Again, I don’t know if islam is the culprit, I’d like to believe that it is wracked with heresy. But it is both ignorant and stupid, to your own detriment, to disregard this problem as being wide spread.
We can’t fix islam’s problems, but we have to protect ourselves to… Finding that balance with out falling into the trap of being racist bigots ourselves is the key and a delicate balance, but we have to walk this line. Lives are literally at stake.

In the 1939 Colliers World Almanac they did a real nice article on Adolf Hitler. according to the Almanac Adolf Hitler’s voting base was the evangelical Christians and the Catholic.
The same bunch that cheered for the right wing of the Republican Party. check and see how many of the tea baggers, Town Hall screamers, and 9 12 protesters are evangelical Christians or Catholic.

It is quite possible for both of the following statements to be true:

“Most Muslims are not terrorists.”

“Most terrorists are Muslims.”

Even if only 1/10 of 1% of all Muslims participate in or support terrorist groups, that’s still a huge number of psychopaths when you consider there are over 1,000,000,000 Muslims worldwide.

The profiles of some of the more recent terrorists are rather disturbing. The guy at Ft. Hood, for instance, was highly educated, and, presumably, very intelligent. Given that, one would assume he was also logical and rational, and at least somewhat reasonable. Some of the 9/11 highjackers were, reportedly, not very religious. They were also well educated, liked a good party, and didn’t show their faces in a mosque very often. One would assume that well educated, intelligent, secular people with bright futures ahead of them would not be likely jihad recruits. That’s what makes Americans more paranoid about Islamic terrorism as opposed to, say, white supremacists. The latter group tend to be less educated, quite loud and obnoxious about their views, and more predictable. In other words, you can see it coming.

Mike Thompson: you are wrong about Hitler’s support. Before he came to power his supporters were mostly Protestants. Catholics and Socialists were his principal opponents. Once he took power all Germans either had to seem pro-Nazi or actually were in favor of much of Nazi policy, but you cannot condemn Catholics for supporting him. I have read Colliers World Almanac, but in 1939 there were may notions about Hitler and the Nazis which were not accurate.

Then why are there so FEW Muslims in the military? Most are interpreters or some other non-combat job. And “most” of those FEW are hopefully loyal to this country. However, where are the thousands and thousands we need to go fix bayonets and kill Taliban? THEY AREN’T ENLISTING !!

In WW II we had the 442nd Combat Brigade made up entirely of Japanese who killed Germans as fast as they could find them. They were Army’s most decorated unit.

Only a fool would not realize we in this country now have a serious problem in our midst.

Just in case you haven’t read this yet …………… it’s very prophetic!

THE HAND OF ISHMAEL

“In the seventh century of the Christian era a wandering Arab, of the lineage of Hagar, the Egyptian, combing the powers of transcendent genius with the preternatural energy of a fanatic and the fraudulent spirit of an imposter, proclaimed himself as a messenger from heaven, and spread desolation and delusion over an extensive portion of the earth.”

“Adopting, from the sublime conception of the Mosaic law, the doctrine of one omnipotent God, he connected indissolubly with it the audacious falsehood, that he was himself his prophet and apostle. Adopting from the new revelation of Jesus, the faith and hope of immortal life, and of future retribution, he humbled it to the dust by adapting all the rewards and sanctions of his religion to the gratification of the sexual passion.”

“He poisoned the sources of human felicity at the fountain, by degrading the condition of the female sex, and the allowance of polygamy; and he declared undistinguishing and exterminating war as part of his religion against all the rest of mankind. The essence of his doctrine was violence and lust; to exalt the brutal over the spiritual part of human nature.”

“Between these two religions, thus contrasted in the characters, a war of more than twelve hundred years has already raged. That war is yet flagrant; nor can it cease but by the extincture of that imposture, which has been permitted by Providence to prolong the degeneracy of man. While the merciless and dissolute are encouraged to furnish motives to human action, there never can be peace on earth and good will toward men. The hand of Ishmael will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him.”

This is the presentation Hasan made to senior Army medical people in June 2007.

“The Koranic World View As It Relates to Muslims in the U.S. Military.”

“…he lectured on Islam, suicide bombers and threats the military could encounter from Muslims conflicted about fighting wars in Muslim countries.”

The man gave a lecture on what could happen & was ignored.
And what he predicted did happen, by his own hand. Another example of the US military ignoring the facts before their eyes. Remember the Christian fundamentalist movement at the Air Force academy. Dozens of officers were retired early as a result. But the Air Force had warnings for years and ignored those warnings.

Large institutions have a hard adjusting to changes. The Army might want to pull Hasan’s lecture out and carefully review it. They apparently have a problem with troops of the Muslim faith that they are not prepared to resolve. His thoughts may help.

EXCERPT FROM AN EXCELLENT ARTICLE :

What’s behind America’s politically correct ‘love’ of Islam?

——————————————————————————–
Posted: November 09, 2009
9:25 pm Eastern
David Kupelian

So, why do we have this stubborn inability to come to grips with Islam?

Everyone attributes it to “political correctness,” but I think it’s time to move beyond that shallow, passé, near-meaningless phrase.

Do we dare admit what is really at play here? The truth is actually very simple.

We are afraid of Islam.

We are intimidated by Islam.

And because we are afraid of and intimidated by Islam, Islam is changing us – in two distinct and profound ways.

First, as is appallingly obvious, we’re afraid to criticize Islam openly, for fear of having our head cut off or having a fatwa put out on us like the director of the new “2012″ film, or we’re afraid of being sued by some of the very litigious Islamic organizations like CAIR, or we’re afraid of being called a racist, extremist, hater or “Islamophobe” thanks to the tyranny of political correctness, or we’re afraid of offending those in power and thereby risking our position, stature or other advantage. This reaction, while perhaps selfish and cowardly, is more-or-less conscious and strategic.

However, for some it goes much deeper: Being intimidated by Islam (or by anything, for that matter) actually causes some of us to mysteriously grow sympathetic toward it, to defend it, to side with it, even to convert to it. This unconscious shift in attitude, in response to fear of being hurt, is called the Stockholm syndrome, named after the 1973 Swedish bank robbery during which the four terrorized hostages sided with their criminal captors while disparaging the police risking their lives trying to save them.

We need to understand that a certain percentage of us, when we’re intimidated and upset, start to emotionally gravitate toward and agree with whatever is intimidating us. Not just superficially, as a temporary tactic of placating a bully so he won’t hurt us, but more profoundly, deep down in the inner sanctum of our being where our thoughts and feelings germinate and our loyalties bloom.

Intimidation – that is, causing others to react with upset and fear – is a fundamental principle of mind control, fully capable of causing the victim’s loyalties to shift toward the intimidator, whether a schoolyard bully, gang leader, child molester, hostage-taking bank robber or Islamic radical.

“Political correctness” – which is basically a low-grade Stockholm syndrome playing out on a broad societal stage – is actually a subtle form of brainwashing. Even establishment mouthpiece Newsweek, in its famous Dec. 24, 1990, cover story on the then-new phenomenon of political correctness on college campuses (titled “Thought Police”) conceded this truth when it reported: “PC is, strictly speaking, a totalitarian philosophy.”

Bottom line: We’re intimidated, bullied, threatened, terrorized – and so we capitulate, not just in word and deed, but in thought. Get it?

Most of the time, of course, this occurs below the radar of our own consciousness. We don’t understand what’s really happening. So we interpret our growing sympathy and affinity for whatever intimidated us as evidence of our loving, open-minded, enlightened nature. In reality, it’s the result of craven weakness on our part.

“….since so many commentators and some politicians are rushing to stigmatize all Muslim soldiers.”

“…The military has never fully come to terms with the emotional trauma of war…It’s now clear the Army has to do a better job of making sure its mental health professionals are up to the task.”

The Army has done a fantastic job of making sure its mental health professionals are up to the task. How many thousands of Army mental health professionals are going around killing their fellow soldiers? Answer: none.

Hasan didn’t kill 13 people because of war trama, he killed them because he was a Islamic radical who believed in killing the infidels (i.e., your and I).

Leiberman thinks Fort Hood was terrorism. But remember he thinks that Rx Reform is socialism, that Obama’s authority is totalitarianism, and anything Nancy Pelosi says is fanaticism…..

There’s an Al Queda website? Should we all go check it out? Should we act all 007 and pretend to want to join (as double agents, of course)?

Al Queda must get crackpots all day long saying they want to blow up this and kill that. That’s why Mr. Hasan’s emails with Al Queda are so cryptic. He’d certainly be written off as a joker if he exposed his plans to kill US citizens. Think about it. How would you approach the task of blogging on an Al Queda website so that you could get some sort of guidance about your own private 911?

“Yes, I’d like to keel infidels. I was hoping that somebody in Al Queda would give me ideas about how to make something go KABOOM. This is not a hoax, I’m really a terrorist…allah be praised!”

See? there’s no way to figure out how to broach the subject of a terrorist conspiracy, without either exposing oneself to homeland security, or without convincing Al Queda that you’re a clown.

Mr Hasan’s leaked messages to the Al Queda website are weird. Perhaps there’s a coded message in them. Somebody do a search for anything remotely approaching, “The wolf howls at midnight”.

Surely the uber-psychologists and decyphering wizards on this blog can contribute some new insight into the construction of a quantum matrix that would enable a pattern search of a random-arrayed sampling of emails…..

better yet, someone buy a box of Cracker Jacks and use the secret decoder ring…..

Muslims (Islam) was the reason that they have fought and killed each other and anyone and everyone who didn’t adhere to the Koran and the Muslim faith. This sadly, is the truth and this is why we and they will NEVER be on peaceful terms with each other. We are infidels and they are Muslims who must wipe the face of the earth of all infidels. Stop buying their oils and they will go back to killing themselves and tribal lifestyle. Sorry…but it’s true.

Cynthia,

Again and again we say that Islam is a religion of peace. Really? I see a religion permitting female genital mutilation, Capital punishment for adultery, No rights for women citizens, Censorship or worse for those that question religious dogma, and a brutal doctrine that is set against the backdrop of war and a theocracy. Muhammad was a soldier and governing ruler, Jesus was not.

Like it or not Christians and Jews are considered the descendants of Apes and Pigs because of an influential 9th century Islamic writer. While the rest of the world is trying to solve problems with economies and health care reform there world is busying loping off hands and funding Hamas. Jumping to conclusions is one thing but completely ignoring the facts at hand is another.

Why not ask Salman Rushdie at Emory how peaceful Islam really is?
