The best thing that could happen for world peace is for the US to lose in Iraq and Afganistan. We need to get our nose bloodied again to remind the nut job right wingers that killing and bombing people is not always going to work. We will eventually lose both of these conflicts, but the longer we stay in and the more damage we do perhaps the greater the lesson learned and the longer we will avoid repeating the same mistakes. Remember there are many different kinds of victories. Even if we lose this conflict and come home in disgrace it will actually be the greatest of victories for the entire world. The average American will have learned a valuable lesson and we can stay out of world conflicts for another 30 or 40 years like after we lost Vietnam. The worst thing that could happen is for us to win over there and then the world will really be in trouble.

I say there shouldn't be a monument to king. There should be a monument to C. Tucker because of her wonderful writings that lighten the world. Or is that enlighten? I never can keep those two words separate.

Cindi Tucker deserves that memorial more than King does.

Any writing will be held hostage by the king kiddys/failures and Shirley Franklin. Perhaps with the proceeds the Atl sewer system might be repaired. Or perhaps a new control tower at Hartsfield Airport constructed in the likeness of mlk.

The far left ARE THE BIG PROBLEM

What would MLK think of Obamas solution of the gates fiasco?

You should be ashamed. He was killed when they were children and robbed of the chance to be a good parent. The childern were probably spoiled more because of his death; by their family and the movement. But they're all well-educated and articulate professionals.

Cynthia,
There should also be a picture of Dr. King just inside the White House front door as a first see. He’s done more for our freedom and equality than most of our presidents.

If our nation somehow survives this age intact, it’ll be because we were able to build upon what Dr. King and his followers did for us and take our freedom to the world.

If America was still oppressing millions nationally like before Dr. King, what chance would we stand against any of our present-day adversaries? What oppressed people anywhere would care a thing about throwing off their oppressive governments (like in Iran) and trying to become more like us?

We’ll survive only by helping others become free in the same principled way Dr. King helped all of us. Like I said, just inside the front door of the White House, maybe in a solid gold frame!

Cyth, you are so right. I just don't know why there's so many haters in the blog and not enough players.

You keep on doing what you do and don't let the haters deter you no matter what they say or how wrong you are. You go gurl.

I think you're being used; you're being put down. We just won't stand for this anymore. Clearly, gurl, you have talent and are being degraded to this level. You should be head editor of the AJC. Just say the word and we'll march on Atlanta. We're not going to take this insult anymore.

As far as MLK, hey, gurl, you're absolutely right. I just don't understand how those other haters can disagree with you. But, we should take the time to spell out his name, if only in respect: Martin Luther King.

Now, I'm going to have to embarrass you. You deserve to be right up there beside King and the others that did so much to change this country. People need to read your columns everyday in major publications like the New York Times, the Washington Post and National Enquirer. For them not to do so, is dissing you.

Cyth, you are so right in your opinion and everyone should see it your way. I just don't understand why these here haters aren't players and are dissing you in your blog.

I say that it should be "Tucker" and then "King." This should be inscribed in stone so everyone can enjoy your wonderful, wonderful writings.

You haters out there, don't be haters, be players. You go gurl.

Or, I have a bridge in Brooklyn that's up for sale.

To Rev Al Sharptongue:

Just for the record. It wasn't the "Civil War". It was the "Wat Between the United States of America" and the "Confederate States of America."

Speaking of education, you missed a lot of punctuation, capitalization, sentence structure, etc.
