This is the typical Tucker re-diatribe that should have gotten her fired years ago. Remember how she opined that Congressional opponents of the "Assault Weapons Ban, those pesky and evil Republicans, were "more crazy" than the Washington DC freeway snipers?

Really, people who have doubts over measures intended to further infringe of the rights of the law-abiding are more dangerous than nuts with rifles on the freeway. Tucker should have been fired for these deeply offensive remarks. Suffice to say the already sullied Pultizer Prize was thoroughly discredited the day she was awarded hers.

I just popped in to remind everyone of Tucker's ignominious commentary.

I'm a little late to this post, but here is my two cents worth.

As a citizen of this country, I have a right to own a gun. In fact, I own several. Besides my military training (former Infantry grunt, Ranger, & Sniper), I have taken other firearms training classes, and I go to a gun range to practice with my pistols and rifles. Besides practicing to remain proficient, I enjoy target shooting. I have also obtained a firearms permit to legally carry a pistol in Georgia and other states that reciprocate our license. All that being said, I do consider myself a responsible gun owner. I state all this to let you all know my background and to somewhat understand me. But in all honesty, I simply do not care what anyone thinks of me.

I own guns and I will never give them up. I carry a pistol (concealed of course) on me and I carry it everywhere - local, state & federal parks, office buildings, retail stores, banks, everywhere I wish (except of course when traveling by commercial air and in government buildings with detectors) and I will continue to do so.

As far as I am concerned, my right to own a gun is more important than the lives lost from accidental shootings. I simply do not care what other people think about this issue. No one will ever change my mind. To some, I am a gun nut. I think the anti-gun people are nuts, but I respect the fact that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But you still can not take my guns from me.

To be honest, compared to some people I have known, I really do not think I stand out of the crowd so to speak.

In the words of Charlton Heston: "you will take my gun when you pry it from my cold dead fingers". To all of the nay-sayers: good luck with that.

And even if guns were banned and confiscated, I will keep my guns. I will smile and say, oh I sold that one years ago, that one went bad so I threw it away, and those others I sold for cash. I'm sorry, I did not know I was supposed to report that to anyone. After seeing I have no criminal record and that I was a decorated veteran of our Armed Forces, I will be left alone. And I will keep my guns. And I will continue to carry a concealed pistol. Because I can and I will. And I just don't care what other people think.

Alex, regarding your comment, “Guns should only be in the hands of law enforcement and the military.”

The husband / alleged shooter WAS involved in Law Enforcement. Check out the post:
http://www.examiner.com/x-1417-Gun-Rights-Examiner~y2009m10d8-Does-Hain-shooting-show-citizens-cant-be-trusted-with-guns
"Her husband was a parole officer in Berks County and a former prison guard at the State Correctional Institute in Camp Hill. He also had worked part-time for Lebanon County Central Booking."

Many of us accept the responsibility of gun ownership and some choose to carry for self-defense. Many are not comfortable with guns or do not want to make an effort to defend themselves. A few unfortunately,(EVEN those in LAW ENFORCEMENT) in a moment of passion, happen to use a gun to cause pain or death, to loved ones, rather than any of the many other means of deadly-force.

Considering that the mom had a CCW permit, my guess is there was a history of domestic problems or even violence in the family. It’s too bad the children witnessed this and have lost both parents.

But how many times are guns used in crimes or shootings that don't result in death?

Tucker completely fails to make her point. The shooting happened at home where a CCW license would not be required anyway. The incident at the soccer game was not shown to be related to the murder-suicide. And like all gun control advocates she fails to look at the overall cost-benefit of an armed populace. Check the National Crime Victims Survey reports at the DOJ and you'll find a study which found an average of 82,000 reported times per year that guns were used in legit self defense. This far exceeds the number of gun deaths.

Thanks for the critique. You're entitled to your opinion, as am I. I'm just a sick, frustrated old man with a lot of simple solutions to our problems.

If you've read my stuff you should know I agree with you about Obama's potential 2nd term. I just posted this last night:

Hillary’s future depends on how Obama does. He might think it futile to run for a second term, ala LBJ.

TnGelding........ Was just reading this blog, and noticed an inordinate amount of posting on this subject from you.......

Then went and looked at some other threads, and found a similar pattern. A pattern that in my opinion goes beyond a citizen just sharing views or venting frustration in his/her free time.........

I may be wrong, but you seem to be agenda driven vs. having any real passion for the subject at hand. To me this limits any credibility you have on this subject. Again, I don't know you, but I've been around enough to pretty much figure you out. Sorry friend but policy and influence are not created here.

Speak your mind and take a powder(aka; give it a rest) That is unless you are paid to try and counter every conservative viewpoint posted.

Either way, good luck with all that....... You will need it, as the real majority in America is finally waking up, and they are not happy. The 2nd term for this administration is no longer a forgone conclusion. I predict Ms. Tucker will have moved on by then as well considering how out of touch her editorials have been for the last.......... Well you know though you will never admitt it.......

Well, good luck in your defense from imaginary threats. You'd better upgrade your armament to defend against Big Brother. You know he's watching and listening to you. The sad thing is you need police protection from your family as much as thugs, but certainly random house invasions do happen. And I understand a militia is forming to storm the White House.
