Bookman says it well on odious “black agenda” memo

To those of you who were wondering whether I was going to comment on the “black agenda” memo that has created a huge controversy in the Atlanta mayor’s race, I defer to my colleague Jay Bookman, who has written a brilliant post on the subject. I agree with every thing Bookman says.

Since my move to Washington, I haven’t kept up with local politics as much as I used to. But I find the memo deeply disturbing. It has no place in current-day politics.

Cynthia,

You are generally pretty astute regarding racial issues. But, I fail to see how the existence of a “black agenda” in Atlanta politics is news to anyone much less being a “huge controversy”. As I posted to Bookman’s blog, no one will be affected except a few more disaffected whites (without an agenda) who will determine that it is pointless to vote at all, or to run for election I might add. Blacks will continue to vote as they always do: for the Democrat.

Does this racist lady only talk about race? She seems to be racist to the bone. And I’ve heard she is no longer the lead editor for the AJC. Thank You Lord. The Lord sure can work miracles.

If all the liberals moved out of Georgia this place would be like Mississippi – dirt poor and segregated. It would be a conservative paradise – too bad for you rednecks we aren’t going anywhere.

Two things I just heard that are divorced completely from reality:

1) Stephanopolis at his worst and every disingenuous talking head/pundit who has said something like Georgie:

It’s not going to get through the Senate right now and I think that what Democrats may try to do is remind people of another side of the Kennedy legacy. That was Kennedy the compromiser. Kennedy the negotiator. The man who was willing to take a portion, incremental gain even if he couldn’t get everything he was calling for…

Georgie Steph was talking about the bimboesque idea of gutting the public option from health care reform when the major problem with delivering health care right now is the insurance companies. Kennedy’s compromise was to drop single payer which he desperately wanted from the time he got into the Senate. He never would have gutted a health care bill for the worthless idea of coop flops. Kennedy was never about passing a piece of worthless junk and putting a little black dress and some lipstick on the pig.

The second was this quote from Cynthia Tucker on Wolf Blitzer:

I was talking earlier with some friends and I asked, who might emerge as the new Ted Kennedy in the United States Senate? You know who a lot of people think it might be? … That would be Senator McCain.

No bigger and more disorganized hypocrit is ensconsed in the Senate than John McCain. His recent bizarre comments on Afghanistan–more troops>more troops>more troops> to infinity are evidence of that.

No one I’ve ever talked with thinks that, and with good reason. There is not going to be a scintilla of bipartainsanship on any significant bill that Obama wants passed. Never was, never will be.

The best hope for Medicare and Healthcare is Waxman and the 60 members of the House who will not blink or backdown. There will be a public option or insurance companies will completely decimate health care. They’ve made enormous progress in that direction.

For Stephanopolis who has cadillac insurance for life to make such a cavalier statement is reprehensible.

And someone should acaquaint poly sci major Georgie with public option via Reconcilation ’cause it’s a comin’.

Cynthia,
Once again you have proven why you are no longer with AJC. Your derogatory remarks regarding Glenn Beck as a racist are unfounded and purely speculative. They are designed to enrage the black population, as opposed to sticking to the facts and presenting both sides of this non-issue to the public. I find it incredible that you have still not learned of the true repercussions of your remarks. I would have hoped that you would eventullly lean to being more subjective (as opposed to radical). I have lived my entire life living, working and associating with black Americans, so I can honestly say that I can disseminate between a black American who hasn’t a racial bone in his or her body and strives to improve their lifestyle and position in this world as opposed to a black American who finds it easier to “live in the past” and judge anyone who is not black as being racist. If you would look up the word “racist” in the dictionary, you will find that those who claim that others are racists are actually racist themselves. I would have hoped that age and wisdom would have educated you better (or perharps you chose to not listen to words of wisdom).

1) Cynthia is with AJC–what do you think you’re reading–does your momma work the in fternet box for you?

2) Glenn Beck has a short half life left at even a fake news station like Faux. While he’s there to stoke their racist base, about 40 sponsers have dropped him. They’ve been quickly transferred to othe Faux shows, but the racism and stupidity at Faux for which there is no vaccine goes more pandemic, sponsers will hit Rupert’s bottom line that is his obsession.

~ WHO LET $ATAN $NEAK INTO OUR U.$. CONGRE$$ ~

**THIS OLD WORLD ORDER OF ABUSE AND NEGLECT OF OUR POORER AMERICANS NEEDS ENLIGHTENED POLITICAL MINDS AND HEARTS TO VIEW GOD DIFFERENTLY THEN $$$? NO MATTER WHAT THEIR POLITICAL PARTY AFFILIATION ???

**WHEN WILL OUR WEALTHY ELITE AMERICANS ABATE THEIR ASSAULT ON POORER AMERICANS WITH THEIR MONETARY CONTROL OF OUR IVORY TOWER U.S. CONGRESSIONAL LEADERS OF THE NEW WORLD ORDER ???

**THERE ARE NOT MANY MORE DISTRACTIONS LEFT WHICH ARE AVAILABLE FOR OUR WEALTHY ELITE AMERICANS TO HIDE BEHIND IN NOT TAKING PROPER CARE OF ALL OUR AMERICANS IN A HUMANE FASHION !!!

**RALPH NADER ATTEMPTED TO EDUCATE AMERICAN VOTERS ABOUT U.S. CORPORATE POWER IN AMERICA AND HOW THEY CONTROL OUR CONGRESSIONAL PEOPLE THROUGH THEIR POCKET BOOK (POLITICAL DONATIONS). WITHOUT THE DOUGH $$$ THESE U.S. CONGRESSIONAL LEADERS OF THE FREE WORLD DO NOT GET RE~ELECTED TO CONGRESS.TO STAY IN POLITICAL OFFICE IN AMERICA,ONE HAS TO BARTER YOUR VOTES IN CONGRESS AND REPRESENT POWER INTERESTS IN RETURN FOR THE BUCK$.

**POORER AMERICANS HAVE NEVER HAD THE $$$ LOBBY TO INFLUENCE THIS CORRUPT POLITICAL CONCEPT (of horse trading political votes for political contributions) TO ACHIEVE PROPER HEALTH ~CARE OR LEGAL REPRESENTATION FOR ALL OUR MIDDLE ~ CLASS AND WORKING POOR AMERICANS.

**AMERICAN IVORY TOWER U.S.CONGRESSIONAL LEADERS OF THE FREE WORLD HAVE PASSED FEDERAL LEGISLATION IN WASHINGTON DC TO SPEND 50 BILLION AMERICAN TAX $$$ ON THE INTERNATIONAL FIGHT AGAINST AIDS OVER THE NEXT FIVE YEARS WHILE THEIR OWN AMERICAN CITIZENS ARE BEING TOLD BY THIS SAME U.S.CONGRESS THAT NATIONAL HEALTH CARE AND PROPER LEGAL REPRESENTATION FOR MIDDLE CLASS AND WORKING POOR CITIZENS IS UNAFFORDABLE.

*** WEALTHY ELITE AMERICANS (WHO ARE ONLY 1% OF OUR USA POPULATION) SADLY ALSO CONTROL HOW OUR U.S.CONGRESS SPENDS THEIR BUDGET TRILLION$ AND HAVE OBVIOUSLY FOUND MORE WORTHY INTERNATIONAL CITIZENS THEN OUR OWN DESPERATE AND NEEDY POOR TO ASSIST !!!

~Poorer Americans Nationwide only get 400 million $$$ per year for legal representation allocated them by CONGRESS~

**Middle Class and Working Poor Americans are unable to afford proper legal representation in their Civil, Criminal and Family Courts of law all across America causing tremendous hardships nationwide, but these great minds and callous hearts in our American Congress have found others Worldwide more needy then their own citizens who are being falsely incarcerated, wrongfuly executed, losing their homes or apartments, losing child custody or visitation with their children etc?

**Not being afforded proper legal representation by our U.S. Congress has created a total breakdown of the American judicial system for our poorer Americans because the our U.S. Courts punish all of us little people if we are not assisted with proprer legal counsel.

**It is a known fact that our average Middle Class and Working Poor Americans without proper legal representation in all of our American Courts of law lose their legal cases to the better financed who are able to afford lawyers.

**Lawyers For Poor Americans is now actively in the hunt for International Countries and Leaders Worldwide to help raise 5 Billion Dollar$ for our slighted poorer Americans who have had their own American Congress turn their backs on their desperate needs in not affording them proper legal representation.

**Troy Davis and Mumia Abu ~Jamal are 2 perfect examples of American citizens who never had proper legal representation or defense investigations afforded them by our U.S. Congressional Leaders Of The Free World in their initial criminal trials in (Georgia and Pennsylvania) who might very well have to pay the ultimate price of possibly being completely innocent and falsely executed in the near future.

**These two poor Americans are among tens of thousands of legal cases nationwide that never were afforded proper legal representation or proper defense investigations at their initial trials. **We the public really have no idea if these men are innocent or guilty until they both are given fair legal representation at their new future trials.

**Improper murder trials and needless deaths due to lack of healthcare take place in Third World Countries all the time.*** Why should average Middle~Class and Working Poor Americans in the Wealthiest Country Of The World be treated as if they are living a Third World Life Style ??

But tucking your tail, and hiding from this huge memo story behind Bookman’s comments is cowardly. Every piece you write has some kind of racism focus to it. Now, the “Queen of Race Pointing” is keeping mum.

“If all the liberals moved out of Georgia this place would be like Mississippi – dirt poor and segregated. It would be a conservative paradise – too bad for you rednecks we aren’t going anywhere.”

I thought liberals prided themselves on embracing people who are different than they are. To hear the dehumanizing and vilifying terminology they used toward “rednecks”—i.e., poor and working-class white people who refuse to think like they do—you’d think you were listening to a bigot.

Eight out the cities with the top 10 poverty rates in America have been run by Democrats 100 percent of the time since 1965. Two have been run by Republicans only 8 percent of the time.

Washington, D.C., long controlled by progressive liberals, spend $15,000 per student(50% above. Only 60 percent of the kids graduatewith only 9 percent going on to college.

In 1998 they banned guns in England. For the next seven years, the number of deaths and injuries from gun crimes increased 340 percent — because only criminals had guns.

In England, patients in hospitals have been known to be so thirsty that they drink water from the nearby plants, new moms forced to give birth in hallways because of a shortage of rooms and supposedly removed spleen suddenly rupturing.

In Canada there’s an average wait of 4 1/2 months to see a doctor. In fact, 17,000 Canadians have come to the US for healthcare just since Obama’s inaguration, no Americans have gone to Canada.

The Bank Bailouts cost taxpayers $700 Billion, $6.4 Billion(less than 10%) of which has been quickly returned by those banks politically pressured to it. A 15% profit.., according to those that never took Accounting 101.

All this preceived as progress.., from those that feel moving to the left of what our forefathers created is a good thing.

This past week a memo was circulated around City Hall….asking citizens to vote for Lisa Borders to preserve the black agenda. The memo indicated that the black agenda would be lost if a black mayor was not elected in. Unfortunately the black agenda has been lost for many years. Evidence of this can be seen in our heavily neglected historically black communities such as English Avenue, Vine CIty, Peoplestown, Mechanicsville, Adair Park, the list goes on.
If the black agenda has been preserved all these years how come the black communities in this city have not been preserved? The scholars who wrote the memo who are allegedly from Clark Atlanta are not paying attention when they drive into the campus each day. The area surrounding Clark Atlanta is not preserved and it is not safe. Most of the homes have gone into foreclosure. Over the past 25 years the “black agenda” that the scholars at Clark Atlanta (the memo writers) has done nothing but destroy the very same neighborhoods that blacks reside in. Get a grip atlanta….its not about color its about quality of life.

Typical wingnut responses here. If Tucker had echoed her opposition to the racist memo with a column of her own, she’d had been derided for echoing Bookman. If she keeps it short and sweet; “yeah, what Bookman said.” … then, she’s lazy, or a coward. If she’d AGREED with the “black agenda” statements in the memo and said so, she’d have been rightly labelled a racist. But since she disagreed, she’s a hypocrite, just as bad as the people she’s criticizing who wrote the memo. Earth to wingnuts: “Huh?”
Why bother addressing any of her columns? Admit it, it doesn’t matter what she writes. You spew the same sewage water back in response – and most of the time, you bring up HER race, whether her column’s about race or not. So spare us all, and just email in your standard, Cliffs Notes bullets:

Liberal= :Weak, unpatriotic, cowardly, anti-business, tax – and- spend, godless, America-hating, sissies, tax loving socialists, elitists
Black liberals = unAmerican, undeserving, affirmative-action babies, ghetto-dwelling, criminal coddling parasites.

See, isn’t that faster?

And to the dude who decried that the nation has “moved to the left of what our forefathers created” …
the founders were men, not gods – and everything they created had all the fingerprints and flaws of human hands. They envisioned a system where blacks and women had no rights and no vote, where land ownership was presumed to be a requirement for suffrage, and where the masses weren’t trusted to select a President by one man, one vote. Fortunately for us, many of the most influential of them were, despite their status as members of the landed gentry, also minds honed by the Enlightenment – America’s age of reason, where the power of the church was firmly held in check. Almost all believed in God, but did not trust religion with power.

I’m so weary of the “what the Founders intended”/strict constructionalist BS.

And speaking of BS, didn’t you love the Huckster prattling on about how Obama’s healthcare would have counselled Senator Kennedy into not trying to prolong his life? I’d have loved to see that future Jenny Craig spokesperson try to put those words in Ted’s mouth while he was alive. Brain cancer or not, he’d have kicked Huck’s hillbilly buttocks back to the armpit state he once governed.

I’d say Pat has a big chip on the shoulder! The forefathers laid the foundation for this country — the Constitution, like it or not (I detect a great bit of hostility toward the founding fathers perhaps a bit of hatred because of their race). What has been (and is continuing to be built) on that foundation is what generations thereafter have contributed.
Pat, you are right Obama’s healthcare plan would not have counselled Senator Kennedy into not prolonging his life . . because Senator Kennedy would have been exempt from Obama’s healthcare plan. When are those proponents for Obama’s healthcare plan going to ask their congressmen why they are being exempt from the healthcare plan.
