UPDATE: The lockdown has been lifted at three Paulding County Schools. The schools were put on soft lockdown after police were concerned about a suspicious man near the schools, which share a campus.
The schools were on lockdown for 45 mins to an hour. Police believe the suspicious man was a hunter.
Three Paulding County schools were placed on ’soft’ lockdown this morning after a man dressed in camo and carrying a rifle was seen walking on a side street near the North Paulding High School campus, according to authorities.
The man may be a turkey hunter, according to the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Ashley Henson.
However, as a precaution, North Paulding High, Burnt Hickory Elementary and Sammy McClure Middle schools were put on a soft lockdown, generally meaning all outside doors were locked, but students and teachers were allowed to move freely in the building. The three schools share the same campus.
