Forsyth County sheriff’s deputies Tuesday night arrested a man they say robbed a bank from his car.
Stephen C. Plunkett, 39, was charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault, Forsyth County sheriff’s Deputy Doug Rainwater said.
Authorities say the Dallas, Texas, man drove up to the drive-in Chase Bank branch at 1710 Burford Hwy. on April 9 and threatened to use an explosive device.
He handed a note to the teller claiming to have placed the explosive device somewhere on the branch property and demanding cash, authorities said.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s bomb disposal unit located the device and determined that it was not in fact explosive.
Plunkett was taken into custody Tuesday evening around 10:45 p.m. on Ga. 400, Rainwater said.
He also was wanted in Texas for probation violation, Rainwater said.
Plunkett is being held in the Forsyth County Detention Center, and the investigation is ongoing.
