Smoke prompts temporary evacuation of Stone Mountain High

Students at Stone Mountain High School were temporarily evacuated Tuesday while firefighters investigated smoke in the building.

Though the exact cause is still being investigated, officials believe a motor shorted-out in a dryer in the school, DeKalb County Schools spokesman Quinn Hudson told Channel 2 Action News.

Students were allowed back in the school just after 11 a.m.

Stone Mountain High is at 4555 Central Dr.
