Cobb road reopens after suspicious package detonated

George Busbee Parkway, which was closed for a brief period Friday while Cobb police investigated a report of a suspicious package in the area, has reopened.

Late Friday morning, the Cobb bomb squad went to a homeless camp near Town Center at Cobb, where they located the suspicious package, Officer Mike Bowman of the Cobb County Police Department said.

Officials closed George Busbee Parkway at Town Center Drive while investigators “examined what they had,” Bowman said. “Once we determined it was safe, the roadway was opened back up.”

The package was detonated, Bowman said.
