Atlanta police are investigating the Monday afternoon shooting of a teen in the 2900 block of Campbellton Road.
Police responded to a call indicating a 14-year-old had been shot around 5 p.m. Monday. When emergency personnel arrived, the teen could not be located, but was soon found in a nearby apartment, according to Atlanta police Sgt. Greg Lyon.
The teen had a gunshot wound on his buttocks and was transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, authorities said.
The teen said he was walking through woods behind apartments and heard two gunshots, he told police. He said there were two males near him when the shooting occurred, but he could not give police a description of either.
A bystander said one of the individuals was wearing a black sweatshirt and blue jeans, and the other had on a gray hoodie and blue jeans, police said. The two were last seen running toward Harbin Road.
