Two face drug charges in Clayton

A man and a woman face drug-related charges after Clayton County police said they found them in an apartment with cocaine and marijuana.

While investigating criminal activities at Willow Way Apartments on Riverdale Road, police found the two suspects in the apartment illegally, according to a release from the Clayton County Police Department.

The officers smelled an odor of marijuana and had probable cause for a search warrant, the release said.

Officers found 152 grams of marijuana packaged for distribution, 29.3 grams of crack cocaine, 2.4 grams of powdered cocaine, about 72 prescription pills and a stolen handgun, according to the release.

Gwinnett police are searching for two men who allegedly stole money from a business owner outside of his home in Suwanee, according to a release from the Gwinnett County Police Department.

On Nov. 16, two men visited Zone Electronics in the Pendergrass Flea Market in Jackson County and spoke to the owner several times throughout the day.

The owner closed the store at 5 p.m. and drove to his home in Suwanee. When he arrived at his home, a male armed with a shotgun knocked on his window and demanded money.The owner recognized him as one of the men who entered his store earlier that day, the release said.

Three men sought in ‘quick-change’ scams

Paulding County police detectives are searching for these men. They are wanted in connection with several "quick change' scams at the Walmart in Dallas.

Paulding county detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying three men wanted in connection to several “quick change” scams at the Walmart in Dallas, according to a release from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.

A “quick change” scam occurs when someone buys an inexpensive item, the cashier has the register open and the person asks for change for a larger bill. The person then uses quick hand movements and confusing dialogue to confuse the cashier into giving them more money, the release said.

The cashier usually doesn’t realize the scam has happened until the register drawer is counted at the end of their shift.

The scams occurred at the Walmart on Marietta Highway on PCSO Quick Change 2Sept. 26 and Nov. 18.

The sheriff’s office says the same three men are involved in the scams and they appear to be professionals.

Suspects wanted in Saks Fifth Avenue shoplifting

Police are looking for this woman in connection with multiple shoplifting incidents at several metro Atlanta Saks Fifth Avenue stores.

One person is in custody and three others are wanted in connection with multiple shoplifting incidents across metro Atlanta Saks Fifth Avenue stores, authorities said Tuesday.

Police responded to a shoplifting call on Sept. 14 at Saks Fifth Avenue in Woodstock and video surveillance confirmed that three women entered the store and stole more than $1,500 in merchandise, Woodstock police spokeswoman Brittany Duncan said in a news release.

The women fled the store in a black 2008 Chevrolet Equinox with Georgia license plate number PD15KQ. One of the suspects appeared to be pregnant, Duncan said.

Two teens held in auto thefts

Two teens have been arrested in connection with multiple vehicle thefts in Cherokee County, authorities said Tuesday.

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office deputies were interviewing victims of the thefts when they noticed a suspicious vehicle leaving the Towne Lake Hills East subdivision off of Towne Lake Parkway, Lt. Jay Baker said. Authorities pulled the vehicle over and determined the teens in the vehicle were their suspects, he said. Eric Mitcham, 18, of Canton, and a 16-year-old juvenile were arrested.

Both face three counts of entering auto.

Mitcham is being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center in lieu of $17,100 bond. The juvenile is at the Marietta Youth Detention Center.

Investigators continue to search the surrounding woods for the stolen property.

Family renews call for help finding missing Atlanta woman

Lucilla Rawsaw Harris, 72, is missing.

Update: The family of a 72-year old woman, who has been missing since Saturday,  renewed calls on Wednesday for help to find her.

Fulton County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan reissued the plea regarding Lucilla Rawsaw Harris with updated information.

If you come in contact with Harris or have any information on her whereabouts, please call 911 or the Atlanta Police Department at 404-546-4235.

A 72-year-old woman has been reported missing from her Atlanta home, authorities said.

Lucilla Rawsaw Harris was last seen Saturday driving a gray Saturn Ion with Georgia license tag AVH3948, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan said.

Authorities say Harris suffers from dementia and is likely cold and confused.

Anyone who may have seen Harris is asked to call 678-371-9691.

Armed man robs Alpharetta Smashburger

An armed suspect entered the Smashburger on Windward Parkway Tuesday night, forced three employees inside a freezer and stole cash from the registers, according to an Alpharetta police report obtained by Channel 2 Action News.

Just after 10 p.m., the suspect entered the business and ordered fries. When the employee attempted to provide him change, he pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and told her to get on the ground, according to the report. He stole money from the register, then ordered the employee to get up and go to the back of the restaurant.

In the back, the armed man forced the employee, her manager and another colleague in a freezer, according to the report. The suspect repeatedly asked the manager how to access the safe.

After the manager believed the suspect had left, he pulled the alarm in the freezer and called police.

Alpharetta police are currently investigating the case and have no suspect in custody, according to Channel 2.

Report: Former Walmart employee accused of stealing thousands

Over several months, a former Walmart employee allegedly stole more than $7,000 from the store where she worked, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Ann Johnson stole the money on about two dozen occasions, Milton police told Channel 2.

Johnson is in custody at the Fulton County jail.

Tech student knocked to ground in robbery attempt

Georgia Tech police continue to investigate an attack on a student that happened early Friday on a campus street.

According to a campus crime alert, the student was walking along Fifth Street between Fowler Street and Techwood Drive just before 1 a.m. Friday when she was approached by a male who pushed her to the ground and attempted to take her property.

“The student screamed and the male ran to a silver sedan parked nearby,” police said in the alert. “The student received minor injuries and did not require medical attention.”

Police described the student’s attacker as a 5-foot-10 male with a “slim to average” build and long dreadlocks. He was wearing a red v-neck T-shirt and blue jeans.

Missing man with autism found in good health

An autistic man missing since 8 p.m. Sunday has been found in good health, police said.

Dunwoody police Monday morning issued a missing person alert for 20-year-old Jimmy Williams Jr. He was last seen leaving the Dunwoody Target around 8 p.m., according to a news release.

Police did not say where Williams was found.
