Burglars use U-Haul truck to break into southwest Atlanta store

For the second time in as many days, burglars early Wednesday backed a U-Haul truck into an Atlanta store, then left empty handed.
The latest incident happened just before 7 a.m. Wednesday at Southern Grocery on Westview Drive at Lawton Street in southwest Atlanta.
“It appears a U-Haul van was used to back into the side of the location,” Atlanta police spokesman Greg Lyon said.
Lyon said the burglars attempted to steal an ATM from the store, but were unsuccessful. Nothing else was taken, he said.
About 24 hours earlier, would-be thieves smashed a stolen U-Haul truck through the front of the Metro PCS cell phone store on Bolton Road, heavily damaging the building, but fled without taking anything.
