Cory Harris allegedly signs the letters "CUR" on his graffiti, according to Atlanta police.

Cory Harris, 21, of Stone Mountain, remained in the DeKalb County jail Thursday.
If your idea of fun includes spray-painting trains, government property and other things that don’t belong to you, I have one suggestion. Don’t sign your work.
You are not an artist, you are a vandal if you decide to destroy things with scribble. But a 21-year-old DeKalb County man was apparently so proud of his work, he added his personal moniker to his designs. And now, he’s linked to at least 70 acts of vandalism in the city of Atlanta alone, police said Thursday.
Cory Sherard Harris was arrested Sept. 11 by APD officers who spotted him “tagging” train cars in the CSX rail yard near Seaboard Avenue, according to Carlos Campos, police spokesman. Harris had markers and was found near 15 train cars which all had fresh logos featuring the letters “CUR,” police said.
Investigators conducted a search of his home, where they found more evidence linking Harris to the “CUR” moniker, Campos said. Harris is now facing charges, including multiple felonies, in both DeKalb and Fulton counties.
Turns out, many unsolved and unclaimed acts of graffiti vandalism are now being linked to Harris, according to police. They don’t have crayons in jail, right?

Why do these fools want to come to my neighborhood to write their stupid signatures.
We have enough free spaces in Krog Tunnel and huge wall to practice. Obviously this bed-wetter still lives with his Mom coming from Stone Mtn.
I wish the local Rtown gang had caught this clown instead of the police so he would actually learn a lesson.
His punishment should be to live for a year with “CUR” written across his face in permanent marker everyday.
Get a better hobby and get a life. I hate to break it to you, but you are not actually famous in California because you write your name on a train.

Simple. Paint him. Strip him and paint him pink from head to toe, then dump him in the ‘hood.

I don’t care what these people may think, but this is not artwork. It is pure vandalism. I hope they make him repaint everything he has damaged using his own money, although I doubt he has any.

95% of the fools aren’t “artist’s” nor do they try to be which is what is so miserable about it. Their whole intent it to “tag up” just see their name. Grafitti IS and artform. Give the artists some credit and not lump fools like this into the same category.

For every Banksy (look him up folks), there are a million idiots like “CUR” out there, ruining our public spaces and damaging private property. I agree with the others that his punishment should include some kind of public shaming.

Awww come onnnn…..this guy may be the Picasso of this generation. He’s painting designs on ugly things such as box cars and metal boxes and who knows what. Maybe he will decorate the jail house. If you are ever stuck at a railroad crossing, you will see that even this “art work” can be very interesting.
Anyway he’s not holding up the locals and shooting strangers. Incarcerate him over at the art Museum. They’ve got some stuff that isn’t much better than box car art. He’s got talent of some kind and looks like to me he ought to go to the art institute not the jail house. Give him a chance, not a criminal record.

Dusty, your words make sense . . . which means they are beyond the ken of most of the rage-encrusted mole-men who prowl the AJC comment tunnels. Nice to stumble across another human, though.

It’s not art, it’s a felony. Booker is no artist, he’s a criminal.

Dusty,
You might be right about the merit of his work, but those ugly things he is painting don’t belong to him. Picasso did not paint on someone elses canvas.

I have to agree that some of the graffiti art I have seen around town is “interesting”, but this guy is no artist and has no talent because all he can paint is his initials. Take a ride on MARTA from Chamblee to FIve Points and look around. There is some good artwork out there.

It doesn’t matter HOW ugly the structure is, the graffiti makes it uglier.

This case illustrates how prolific and damaging even a single graffiti vandal can be. Graffiti laws are important to teach this person a lesson by imposing meaningful penalties. But what about the graffiti vandals who aren’t caught? You don”t have to be a graffiti expert or consultant to see that we need to do more graffiti prevention. As noted at http://www.DefacingAmerica.com , we don’t have an art problem. We need to reach out to kids before they get engaged in graffiti tags and vandalism.

All of you have had nothing but negetive to say about this young man. A bad mistake yes, that as one of you said he shoud be made to paint over along with all the rest of the other (by the way you can’t send him back to the hood, he never grew up there). This young man comes from a good up bringing and family he’s a former college, somewhat quiet, he’s donated countless hours to volunteering his time with underpriveledge youth. Do I know this young man personally, I do. Once again a bad mistake he made, Yes. Just as I’m sure each of you have your fair share of you own. Give this young man a chance to correct his mistakes.
