DE Solomon Thomas played the part when he signed with Stanford.
Thomas, who is from Coppell, Texas, donned black glasses with tape in the middle and pulled out a small tree, letting everyone know he was signing with Stanford today.
Thomas, 6-2, 258 pounds, selected Stanford over Arkansas and UCLA, leaving Texas out of the final mix.

Most of debate surrounding the “Best QB in the SEC” has centered on three names:
1. Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel
2. Alabama’s AJ McCarron
3. Georgia’s Aaron Murray
Each have their supporters. Each have their detractors.
But South Carolina’s Connor Shaw (who is from Flowery Branch) was lost in the shuffle of the M&M&M Boys.
He had an outstanding season, throwing for 2,447 yards, with 24 TDs and one interception in 287 attempts. He saved his best for the bowl win over Wisconsin, when he went 22-for-25 for 312 yards and three TDs.
I wrote in October that he was the toughest QB in the SEC, but now Shaw is gaining attention from NFL teams heading into this year’s draft.
He looked strong in practices leading up to last Saturday’s NFL Players Association Collegiate Bowl and has been invited to the combine.
