Steve Spurrier’s donations to South Carolina at $1 million

South Carolina has received more from coach Steve Spurrier than football victories and a stable program.

Spurrier has given an accumulated $1 million in his annual donations to the school, it said in a release on Friday.

This will be Spurrier’s 10th year with the Gamecocks, who are 77-39 with eight bowl appearances under him. South Carolina has reached unprecedented success with three consecutive 11-win seasons.

The Gamecocks also hold a five-game winning streak over Clemson, but haven’t won a SEC championship.

“Coach Spurrier and Jerri are proud Gamecocks and an important part of our team,” South Carolina AD Ray Tanner said in the release. “Their passion for this University is evident and an example for us all. We appreciate the Spurriers’ generosity to our program.”

AJC has been running this story for over a week —- time to pull it and get on with current news. Oh, that’s right, they have no standards, and apparently don’t have competent writers to come up with new stories.

She was finally released from the hospital, went through months of rehab, and now she can walk with a cane. At least that’s what I heard.
