Georgia Southern’s first FBS schedule includes its first games against Georgia Tech and Georgia State, both of which will be played in Atlanta.
The Eagles will play at Georgia Tech on Sept. 13 and new Sun Belt Conference foe Georgia State at the Georgia Dome on Oct. 25.
Georgia Southern, which is making the jump from the FCS to the FBS this year, will open the season at N.C. State on Aug. 30 and will make its first trip to New Mexico when it plays at New Mexico State on Oct. 4.
“We are very excited about our 2014 schedule as we continue our journey into FBS and the Sun Belt,” said coach Willie Fritz, who replaced Jeff Monken in January. “Our program is anxious to share the experience and traditions of playing at Paulson Stadium and representing our University in our new league. We look forward to our first opportunity to compete for a Sun Belt Conference championship.”
Former Southern Conference rival Appalachian State also is joining the Sun Belt. The two teams will meet at Paulson Stadium on Sept. 27.
