New poll coming to college football this fall

There will be a new college football poll this fall.

The Football Writers Association of America and the National Football Foundation will debut the FWAA-NFF Grantland Rice Super 16 poll, which takes part of its name from those organizations and the other part from the famous sportswriting pioneer.

“We are proud to partner with the FWAA on the launch of the Grantland Rice Super 16 poll,” NFF President and CEO Steve Hatchell said in a release. “Objectivity represents a core value for both our organizations, and we hope that by combining the credibility of both our organizations that we’ll provide a fun reference point for fans to follow during the college football season.”

There will be 36 voters — FWAA writers, college football hall of famers and NFF board members — in the weekly poll, which will be geographically balanced. Names and affiliations of the voters will be released before the first poll and their votes will be public every week of the season.

The poll will be released every Sunday through Dec. 7.

I think the best description is from the poster who placed all the SEC teams in the top 16. Only and Ostrich with his head in the sand cannot see that the pollsters chosen each year are biased in favor of the SEC. The pollsters should consist of two voters each from each Conference in the NCAA. It probably should consist of the two coaches in each conference who were the top two teams in their conference the past year. This means the polling board would change somewhat each year, but maintain two voters from each conference.
