Fritz was 40-15 in four years at Sam Houston State, a FCS program in Huntsville, Texas, near Houston. He led the Bearkats to consecutive FCS title games in 2011 and 2012, losing both to North Dakota State.
The Bearkats were 9-5 in 2013.
Fritz will be 54 years old in April.
Here’s what Fritz told the Huntsville Item on Tuesday: “All I can tell you is that I’m really happy at Sam. I really like who I’m working for and with. There’s always times when people are talking to you. The thing I’m fortunate with is that I’ve got a great job where I am.”
