Vanderbilt co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Brent Pry, thought to be one of the top candidates for the coaching job at Georgia Southern, has withdrawn his name from consideration, according to coachingsearch.com.
Savannah media outlets have reported that Pry was scheduled to fly to Statesboro today, but canceled the trip.
Pry was Georgia Southern’s defensive coordinator in 2010 and has been the co-defensive coordinator at Vanderbilt the past three seasons. The Commodores have gone 9-4 each of the past two years under coach James Franklin, who is thought to be a candidate for the Penn State job.
Pry was among several candidates with connections to Georgia Southern.
