Bobo not a good fit for Georgia Southern

Mike Bobo has been mentioned in connection with the head coaching vacancy at Georgia Southern.

And while Bobo has done an admirable job as Georgia’s offensive coordinator — I know, a lot of UGA fans would love to see him go somewhere — Bobo wouldn’t be a good fit at Georgia Southern.

AD Tom Kleinlein has said he wants someone who buys into Georgia Southern traditions — the school buses, Beautiful Eagle Creek, etc. — including running the triple option that has powered most of the school’s offenses through the years.

“Now, does that mean they need to come in here and do all of those things?” Kleinlein told the Statesboro Herald. “I’m going to leave that up to him. I know, when I sit down and talk to him, that if we’re not doing some of those things, he better have a really good reason why.”

Bobo has shown great ability to adapt and adjust to the rapidly changing world of college offenses, but he’s spent the past several years building a versatile, multifaceted offense at Georgia that revolves around a pro-style QB.

But Georgia Southern is moving to the FBS Sun Belt, so maybe it’s looking for a new offense to go with its new surroundings.

Also, I don’t know if Bobo has the right personality or desire to perform all that’s demanded of a head coach.

“I think he likes it here,” Georgia coach Mark Richt told the Athens Banner-Herald. “I think he understands being a head coach is a lot different than being a coordinator.”

Here’s a list of other Georgia Southern candidates.

Also I agree that Coach Russell should have succeeded Coach Dooley, but the good Lord knew that something special was going to happen in South Ga. and that he had the right man to get it done.

Why don’t you GSU fans concentrate on getting more than 16,000 fans in the stands on game day?

Why don’t you UGA fans stop living in 1980 and thinking you have done anything since Reagan was first elected? 6 rings to 1.

Stingersplash – I was mainly addressing the football programs. I am not proud of alot that either school has done adminstration wise. I am a graduate of Ga.Southern and I agree with the deal about university status, but I will tell you that I am not real proud of some things that Ga. Southern has done. UGA would play GSU when Tech wouldn’t, so as a fan you appreciate that. All I am saying I will pull for both programs because of Coach Russell.

Unbelievable the number of idiots who would be happy to be rid of the guy who presided over back to back record setting years for UGA’s offense. If defense and special teams were just average, the offense was good enough to take them all the way.

Unfortunately, the young defense will probably grow up and perform better next next, but the offense will regress, leaving UGA short again next year. That seems to have been the problem in recent years, the pieces have been there on one side of the ball or the other, but can’t seem to get both going at the same time.

hit a single, the University of Georgia did everything in its power to prevent Georgia Southern from attaining University status. And then Charles Knapp, while president of UGA, treated Erk with tremendous disrespect.
So … the Dogs can bark up someone else’s tree for all I care.

All you people knocking the TO should look at which team from Ga scored more points on the Gators this year. I don’t think Bobo is the man for the job. We need a coach that can do more with less. Come back to Statesboro PJ.

It is unbelievable at the number of Ga. Southern fans that hate UGA. I am a UGA and Ga. Southern fan. I know alot of UGA fans that pull like hell for Ga. Southern because they know what Coach Erk Russell accomplished. He built a great program and I am so glad that he had his hands on both programs. The city of Statesboro owes Coach Russell so much. I don’t know of any one man that had such an impact on a community. There wouldn’t even be a by-pass if not for Coach Russell. So all you UGA haters that call yourself Ga. Southern fans, stop for a minute and be thankful that we have two great schools that were touched by the greatest football coach of all time, the Late Coach Erk Russell. GATA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UGA will pay Bobo more than GSU can. Bobo is not going to leave UGA.
