AP All-America teams loaded with SEC, ACC players

Jameis Winston is not only the Heisman winner, he’s now an All-American.

FSU’s freshman QB led a contingent of SEC and ACC players on the AP’s All-America teams that were announced about noon today.

The offense includes Boston College RB Andre Williams, Texas A&M OT Jake Matthews, Alabama OT Cyrus Kouandjio, FSU C Bryan Stork, Texas A&M WR Mike Evans and FSU K Roberto Aguayo. The defense includes Missouri DE Michael Sam, Pitt DT Aaron Donald, Alabama LB C.J. Mosley, FSU CB Lamarcus Joynder and Ole Miss S Cody Prewitt.

Of the 25 players on the first team, 12 are from SEC and ACC schools. Four of those are Seminoles.

Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel was a second-team selection, as was Clemson WR Sammy Watkins and DE Vic Beasley and Auburn RB Tre Mason, among others.

Alabama QB AJ McCarron is the third-team QB and Georgia Tech Jeremiah Attaochu is a third-team DE.

Here’s Sports Illustrated’s teams, which didn’t include Mosley among it’s first-team LBs.

And here’s ESPN.com’s team. Winston was the first-team QB on both of those teams.

I forgot to mention earlier that Jadeveon Clowney, who was first-team All-SEC, isn’t on any of the three AP teams, but teammate Kelcy Quarles is on the second team.

Of the top ten JUCO players in America, FOUR are offensive linemen.

One has comitted to Bama, one to Tennessee, and two to Texas A&M.

Where’s Georgia? Where’s Richt? Where’s Friend? These fools think you’re ” good to go “with Theus and Houston and Kublablow and Dantzler !!

Richt and Friend are as bad as you Kool-Aiders.

I tell you what, Todd Gurley gonna get real tired of being a battering ram so that Richt and your athletic board can get their jollies watching hin operate behind this joke of an offensive line,

And that private school fullback of y’all’s too!

The kid’s got an NFL future at stake and he’s going to protect it. Can you say pulled hanstring?

8-4 and 33 years. No wonder.

Tide Roll…..

This article was about the All American team……not JC OL and your hate for Georgia. Gee, man, do you ever let up. You and Buckeye are completely fixated on hating Georgia football every day of the year.

And here I thought that this article was about the All-America honors. I didn’t know it was about recruiting, Tired Troll.

Congratulations to the ones who made the list. Certainly, a number of really good players were not able to make it even though they had really good seasons. The list is just subjective opinion anyway, just like the “stars” awarded to high school players, except this one was based on performance and not “potential”.

P.S. Not mentioned in the article that Florida’s freshman CB, Vernon Hargreaves, made 3rd team All American. The kid has an extremely bright future.

Also….looking more and more like Clay Helton, USC’s offensive coordinator who turned USC’s offense around with an up tempo offense after Kiffin was fired, will become the new Florida OC. He also grew up in Gainesville, like Muschamp, and his father played center for UF. He is a young and very energetic coach who puts an emphasis on an up tempo passing and running attack. Maybe be will bring Ed Orgeron along with him from USC.

Tampa Gator, you’re right. Hargreaves is outstanding. Certainly will be on this list again next year.

I added a sentence saying the Clowney wasn’t on any of the AP’s three teams.

Tampa,

I don’t care if Helton comes to Florida or not (he will still have to recruit and develop players, particularly at QB, and that will take time), but as an UGA fan, I would be more worried about Orgeron in the southeast recruiting against the Dawgs along with facing a newly energized Garner at Auburn, and the wizard of Ole Mess along with the usual aggressive programs (think Bama, Klem and son, FSU fresh off of a MNC, and of course, the currently down Gators). Tough gauntlet.

Concerning Clowney…….If I were a NFL GM, no way would I take Clowney and his lack of full out effort on every play with the top draft pick. I see him dropping to the 3rd to 4th pick in the draft. He is a big risk, in my opinion, based on his play, or lack of it, this year. But he is a force when he does decide to play….which is about every 4th or 5th play in which he is involved.

Galt……

Helton took a QB that was struggling big time under Kiffin and coached him up big time to the positive this year at USC. I think he proved that he can coach up players, especially QB and WRs, and I think that is a primary reason he is being considered so highly by Muschamp…..plus his connection to Florida and the SE (for recruiting purposes). I am sure Muschamp will let Helton have a big say in who the OL coach will be, as Pease and Davis were in constant conflict (we learned after their firings) with one another. Not sure which position Ed Orgeron coaches. But pay him what he wants and bring him on staff anyway. But I have no doubt Orgeron will he hired as a head coach somewhere.

Must be something wrong with the AP list – they had the ACC with the same # of All Americans as the SEC. I guess the SEC homers forgot to inform those Associated Press people just how much better EVERYBODY in the SEC is than anybody in all other conferences.

Were they not informed as to how great Gurley and Murray were? Did none of the dream team get mentioned?

Apparently “they” didn’t hear, or better yet, didn’t care.

Why hasn’t Richt been dumped yet? He’ll never win another SEC championship, and he certainly won’t win a national championship. The guy is just a big phony.

Congratulations to those players selected. Unfortunate to see no Dawgs on the list.
