Murray can now charge for autographs

If all you want for Christmas is Aaron Murray’s autograph, here’s your chance.

For $35.

Murray’s injured knee will keep him from playing against Nebraska in the Gator Bowl, so he has completed his eligibility as a UGA athlete, which means he can now charge for autographs.

Murray, who was selected second-team All-SEC by the AP on Monday, will sign autographs at Georgia Square Mall in Athens, beginning at 1 p.m. on Dec. 14. Tickets, which come with a photo opportunity, will go on sale at 10 a.m., on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Part of the proceeds will go to Extra Special People (ESP), a non-profit that “strives to enhance the lives of children with developmental disabilities and their families by focusing on their abilities,” according to its website.

Murray has signed with Everett Sports Marketing, which has planned numerous events with him, including a youth football camp in Athens scheduled for Feb. 8.

Murray’s Twitter account now reads: “For marketing opportunities please email murray@everettsm.com.”

I wouldn’t pay a nickel for Boxscore Murray’s autograph.

While the cause is touching, I will contribute directly and leave Ol’ Boxscore out of it.

$35? Seriously? Wow! Everything is over-priced these days. This one by about a mile. $5 would be a stretch.

Thanks, Frank for your moronic post. Three straight wins over the Gators. Beat two top 10 teams this year ( SC and LSU). Engineered a miracle comeback against Auburn. Had that game won if not for the luckiest play of the century. All time SEC passing leader. Hard to pad stats playing an SEC schedule. What’s he supposed to do, throw incomplete passes just so idiots like you wont accuse him of padding his stats ? Tony Dungy says if he were still a coach that he would take Murray as the first qb in the draft. But I’m sure you’re smarter and more qualified than Dungy.

Your team is nothing but a box score ! Cupcakes for 2 years, then lose to the first decent team you play. Boxscore Buckeyes ! Even if he’s holding a clip board, he’ll be making at least $500,000 per year. Who here on this blog wouldn’t trade places with him ?

You and your team are frauds. BOXSCORE BUCKEYES ! BOXSCORE BUCKEYES !!!!!

Andy, in case you don’t know, football is a team sport. Ever heard of defense ? So if the offense scores 45, and the defense gives up 50, is the qb at fault ? Using your logic, Peyton Manning should not have been drafted since he didn’t win enough big games.

As an inveterate mutt fan hater it is incumbent upon me, in order to maintain that integrity, to point out the inanity of this article. I guess this is what passes as journalism at that school (sic) east of here.

It’s just Miller being Miller in big games. Miller being Miller is his name. That guy is one notch below Reggie Ball. Wait that is an insult to Reggie.

Wow…if Murray the Midget can get $35 for his autograph, I wonder much Austin Carta-Samuels (Vandy QB) can get since Vandy kicked the **** out of UGA this year. I would not pay $3 to watch Murray eat a bale of hay. Nebraska will wallop the over-rated Dawgs on Jan. 1. Maybe Murray can sell cotton-candy during the game.

3 straight wins over the gators who are about as down as they ever have been. Ga Southern even beat them.
How many rings does he have? How many rings do the first round trio of AJ Green, Stafford, and Moreno have? What is the common denominator?

Murry has a very short shelf life. He’d better get everything he can now, because he’s ever going to get.

Since some of the money goes to a good cause, I would spend a little. But, 35.00 is a little steep at this point. Aaron is a warrior and I hope he has a great career. I still think he has potential in the broadcasting booth. Thanks for a great effort and Go Dawgs.

Braxton Miller is by far better than Murray, or any quarterback in the SEC. Bank on it.

I think it is so sad when a college athlete is going to charge kids 35 bucks for his autograph. This is what is wrong with making these kids “gods” due to athletic ability. And what is wrong with pro sports. Sad state of affairs. Now if all proceeds were going to a good charity, that might be another thing.
And don’t get me wrong, I love me some football and I think Murray is going to be a good one.

Why would anyone in their right mind play for a college player’s autograph? Murray ought to pay the kids to take his autograph…he’s done nothing but played for team of chokers. If he gets to the NFL and actually accomplishes something, then worry about autographs. He’ll be like Stafford…another mediocre former UGA quarterback who can’t win the big game.
