Auburn’s miracle win immortalized by Tecmo Bowl

Remember Tecmo Bowl, arguably the greatest video game for football ever created? Remember how it was almost impossible to tackle Bo Jackson, the former Auburn star?

The folks at the YouTube channel Tecmo Super Bowl have created a video commemorating the game-winning play in Auburn’s miraculous win over Alabama.

Watch it and let us know what you think:

Dr. Phill — Do you think Bryant may have “worked on his coaching skills” during those Sunday practices by making the players wish they had never been born? If so, do you think Saban is any different in that regard? Bryant may have communicated in a different manner than Saban, but in my opinion they are very similar in terms of the dedication and pride it takes to be a winner.

When Bear Bryant lost a game, he would always say “it was bad coaching” on his TV show. He appeared to hold himself responsible when players made mistakes, and he sometimes held Sunday practices to work on his coaching skills. Saban took no responsibility, blamed the kicker, and rationalized the loss. Saban gave no credit to Auburn for gaining 300+ yards rushing. The announcer for the Dolphins called Saban a “little punk.” He certainly lived up to that description on Saturday. I hope that was apparent to recruits watching the game.

The detail coach forgot one detail, and it cost him a third straight national title.
