Buckeye: ‘We’d wipe the field’ with Alabama, FSU

Oregon fans had been making noise all season about how they wanted Alabama.

Until they lost to Stanford.

Now, Ohio State (9-0) receiver Evan Spencer thinks the Buckeyes are better than either Alabama or Florida State.

It seems he used his team’s off week to scout the other teams in the running for the national championship. He didn’t seem impressed with the Tide or Seminoles.

Here’s what he told the Northeast Ohio Media Group:

“I’m a little biased, but I think we’d wipe the field with both of them. They have their strengths and weaknesses. Personally, I think we can exploit them, but I’m a little biased.”

The Buckeyes, who are No. 3 in the both the AP poll and the BCS, are good — they’ve won 21 consecutive games — but their schedule is weak. They’ve played only two top 25 teams, and one was Northwestern, which is now 4-5 after losing five straight.

Ohio State shouldn’t have a problem with its next two opponents — Illinois (3-6) and Indiana (4-5) — before finishing the regular season at struggling Michigan (6-3), which has lost three of four.

Even Urban Meyer, Spencer’s coach, has been voting the Buckeyes No. 2 behind Alabama all season. He went with Alabama, Ohio State and Florida State this week, according to the article.

Meyer said:

“At times I don’t get to watch everybody, so it sometimes puts you in a hard position. This last week I did get to watch everybody. There are some very good teams in the country, and I believe we’re a very good team.”

Alabama could lose to either Auburn or in the SEC Championship game, but I don’t see it happening. And I also don’t think FSU will lose before the bowls, so Ohio State likely will be relegated to the Rose Bowl.

Meyer added:

“You’re in the same breath with some very, very good teams. And to maintain that status, you have to play very well. Very well.”

Thing is that Ohio St. is a good team in a joke of a conference. Everyone in the top 25 would be undefeated in the Big 10.

The fact that Stanford and Baylor didn’t jump them this past week is a joke and further proof the BCS is BS.

You haven’t lost a game in almost 2 years while putting up video game numbers and beating the crap out of everyone you play…while playing one of the worst schedules in all of college football.

Sorry, play somebody respectable in an OOC game.

Back pat for your oh so vaunted schedule.

Do they hand out crystal for schedules now?

Ohio State hasn’t played a top TEN team in over four years.

By way of contrast, UGA is about to play their fourth top ten opponent this season on Saturday.

My thoughts exactly, SEC! It’s easy to talk big when there’s no chance you’ll ever have to back it up. OSU struggled against Northwestern, which is now 4-5. Alabama and FSU would hand OSU a pretty big whoopin’!

They won’t have to worry about backing it up, because they’ll never play either of those teams.

I think he meant to say that Ohio St. would “wet” the field vs. Bama or FSU
