Would you want Pelini to coach your team?

Bo Pelini had a bad day.

OK, a downright wretched one.

If you missed it on Monday, Pelini, who has coached Nebraska since 2008, first criticized former Cornhuskers QB Tommie Frazier, who had ripped into the current coaching staff.

Deadspin then posted audio of Pelini blasting Nebraska fans in a F-bomb laden tirade after a win over Ohio State in 2011.

I’m not linking to it, so listen at your own risk. It’s NSFW or NSFLE (little ears).

Of course, all of this came after Nebraska looked befuddled in the second half of a 41-21 home loss to UCLA.

As has become the norm in these situations, Pelini apologized Monday night.

“I want to sincerely apologize for my comments from two years ago which became public today. I take full responsibility for these comments. They were spoken in a private room following the Ohio State game. I was venting following a series of emotional events, which led to this moment. That being said, these comments are in no way indicative of my true feelings. I love it here in Nebraska and feel fortunate to be associated with such a great University and fan base. I again apologize to anyone whom I have offended.”

I don’t tend to get worked up over what happens on the sidelines or immediately after games.

Passion and energy runs high in those situations and sometimes emotions explode under pressure.

It’s happened at places I’ve worked and I’m sure it’s happened at your work, only there are no cameras or recorders around to catch it.

That doesn’t excuse Pelini for his comments.

It won’t help Pelini’s job security that he hasn’t completed the near-impossible task of restoring the Cornhuskers to their glory days under Tom Osborne, although nine-plus wins a season is pretty good.

However, they’ve also lost four games every year he’s been there, so the welcome could be wearing thin.

What do you think of Pelini’s 2011 tirade?
Would you want him coaching your team?
Do you think a coach should be fired for something like this?

He’s too mean!

You need a really nice guy to be your Head Coach. Everybody knows that, silly.

Sorry, Andy and others, if you do not think other coaches have not said this or more you’ve not been around many coaches or locker rooms. Not saying it is appropriate or needed, but to think it doesn’t happen is naive.

yes, as a DC or DB coach. He won a title at LSU with Miles in ‘07 as the DC. When Chavis retires (I hope never), I’d take Pelini back in a heartbeat.

I wonder what Richt was saying about UGA fans when his team won 6 games and most wanted him out. We’ll find out in a couple of years when he loses a tough game and some reporter decides to throw him under the bus.

this all makes me love Miles more. One he handled Pelini, not a single outburst in the couple of years he was there. and two, Miles speaks his mind like in 2010 after the UF game he said, “They didn’t like us much when we were 5-0, lets see how they feel now that we’re 6-0″ and 3, he wins a lot! geaux Tigers!

Pelini would be infinitely better than that craptard excuse of a coach, Mark Richt.

That is the indisputable truth.

9 wins a year and split the bowl record is a .75 win percentage.

Not too shabby…

The man apologized. Hit a guy when he is down on the ground. That is the sign of a coward.

I wonder what tiger fans will think when all the OSU stuff is laid at Miles feet and they start looking into LSU to determine if the same stuff is going on there… way to make the conference look good Miles !

Speaking of Tiger fans, how about the LSU frat that hung a banner mocking the Kent State massacre victims:

Not funny and not classy. Pellini would fit in very well at LSU.

And before anyone posts that the students shot at KSU had it coming, please do a little research. Some of the victims were no where near the protests when they were shot and were simply walking to class.

Pellini is a clown and doesn’t represent Nebraska well. It seems like every year he is apologizing for his comments or behavior or antics on the field. Nebraska used to be run by a classy coach and was an elite program 9 win seasons in the big 10 isn’t like 9 wins in the SEC or PAC 12. Plus they get blown out in all their big games. He needs to go. They should look at Franklin from Vandy if they do fire Pellini.

Fran Tarkenton threw Richt under the bus and Richt never said a word publicly that we know of. If something comes out I wouldn’t blame Richt.

Nebraska will never return to the dominance they held over their opponents ‘back-in-the-day’.

The demographics have changed so radically……the Midwest is no longer bursting with D-1 talent as in the old days. The talent fertile areas are in the South and in California….kids in those climates do not want to go to the blistering cold plains of middle America with the bone-chilling winds and chin deep snow drifts. There are too many warm weather opportunities, they all want to play in the NFL, and they know that if they’re good enough the NFL will find them.

……Not to mention, the girls are prettier.

Good luck in finding anyone who can lure warm climate talent to the frozen tundra……

Unless, you use the Okie Dokie State model.

“9 win seasons in the big 10 isn’t like 9 wins in the SEC or PAC 12.”

So far as I know, they use the same arithmetic as do all the other conferences. 9 win seasons simply aren’t good enough for elite football programs. They expect to win National Championships.

Hey tide roll, you moron deluxe

Richt press conference today:

“We recruited Nick Marshall as a QB. It was his idea to switch to defense. We saw the skill set he had to be able to play QB.”

SO I GUESS COACH RICHT IS LYING????????????????

Speak up boy, I can’t hear you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He should be fired this week never to be a head coach again. We all deserve second chances but he crossed the line. At what point are we going to say no and begin to hold people accountable. My son’s high school football coach was suspended last week for verbally abusing the ref’s and a parent had to be escorted from the stands for his unacceptable verbal abuse of a ref. Until we stand up and against this type behavior we are all part of the problem instead of the solution.

“SO I GUESS COACH RICHT IS LYING????????????????”

Wouldn’t shock me. Records indicate that Marshall signed his LOI with Georgia as a cornerback.

CMR also said that Georgia players don’t flop down onto the field and fake injuries… ;-)

I wouldn’t want Pelini coaching my team. Not because he curses, but because he can’t coach.

Good point. Winning 9 or 10 games a year doesn’t mean much if you lose all of the important games.
