Saban to interview at Texas? Not so quick

Nick Saban isn’t going to replace Texas coach Mack Brown.

At least not right now.

But a Sports Illustrated blogger assumed Saban would be interviewing to replace the embattled Brown as early as this week, thanks to a Twitter joke by the all-powerful Paul Finebaum.

Here’s what Finebaum tweeted Saturday.

SI put together a blog and posted it this morning. It has since been removed, but here’s a portion of it:

“Paul Finebaum of ESPN Radio tweeted Sunday that a source said Alabama head coach Nick Saban will visit with Texas officials, possibly this week.”

One of the problems is that Finebaum didn’t say anywhere in his tweet that Saban will be meeting with Texas officials. It said only that Saban will be in Texas “as early as this Friday,” which, of course, is when Alabama will fly to that state for its game at Texas A&M on Saturday.

It’s tough to find the funny in Finebaum’s tweet, and to joke about breaking news like that is poor judgment. But SI has enough writers and resources to double check and find alternative sources to breaking news and whether they merit stories.

I love “Contractor” saying Texas doesnt have enough money. If Texas doesnt, Bama SURE doesnt ROLMAO! We all know except Contractor that the univerisity of Texas has more money than Bama and the wealthy in Texas is 10,000 times the wealthy in Alabama…..just found that absurd comment funny…..chill out Contractor #1 and number 2….dont be posting on here anymore. Your credibility is zero…..how old are you? I hope young and not just a typical trailer park Bama fan….

So this is what journalism has become? A hack with one media outtlet has a joke tweet and a hack with another media outlet embellishes it and runs with it. Who cares about being right as long as you are first.

Gotta love the know it alls on a college football blog. Nick Saban isn’t going anywhere. Texas doesn’t have enough money, neither does Southern California. You want to know why? That’s because his daughter is a student at Alabama, and he’s about to become a grandfather. His son just started his career with a job in Tuscaloosa and his daughter in law and her family are in Tuscaloosa. Talk all you want about money and all the other garbage half of you spew, but in the end, his age and family will help him retire in Tuscaloosa. Not to mention he is worshiped by an entire fanbase, but also coveted by everyone else no matter what people want to admit.

Let’s be real… if Saban was job-shopping, McGarity would pony up whatever he asked and unceremoniously dump the third-rate Richt.

Finebaum can joke all he wants to, but look for Saban to take a serious look at USCw when that job comes open.

I’m willing to bet that being the highest paid HC in a place like Tuscalooser is not as nearly as desirable to your wife when you can get the same money in LA, and actually have nice places to spend your money at other than Wal-Mart.

Saban left LSU for Miami for the same reasons, this time he’ll leave Alabama for SoCal.

In fact the USCw & Texas jobs coming open at the same time will send shockwaves throughout all of CFB and cause some serious musical chairs among HCs.

That statement is more of you hoping and praying for Saban to leave. Your logic fails with one major issue. Mrs. Terry Saban is not going anywhere and she will not allow her Husband even the opportunity to especially with a Grandchild in the picture.

Finebaum is paid by the section of the Alabama PR and marketing department that promotes everything Bammer…..and now he is doing it on ESPN…and getting paid by them as well. Again, all teams in the SEC should demand equal time on ESPN to promote their programs.

Now that is a lie, please have some proof! Kinda like your UF blowout prediction of Miami.

Saban has no ties to anyone. He is the best coach in all sports right now and will take the Texas money if he wants too. Lets be honest as well, Bama can’t match Texas money.
