As if kids don’t deal with enough negativity on their own time, a love letter involving a trio of educators posted on Facebook by Rex Mill Middle School teachers literally thrust personal drama into the classroom.

So-called “professionals” fighting (be it physical or verbal) and using profanity on school property in front of students is unacceptable. Of course, women clashing over men isn’t a new phenomenon, and I am in no way absolving parents of their responsibilities or implying kids don’t use foul language themselves. But with such a horrible example(s) being set by these teachers in front of very young, impressionable students, it’s no wonder kids believe they can get away with anything, anywhere and anytime they see fit because there appear to be no boundaries.

“Today’s teachers don’t have the level of etiquette that they used to,” says Peggy Brooks, whose son attends Rex Mill Middle. A few other parents also felt information on this ordeal should have been sent via calling post so parents wouldn’t have to read about what happened in the newspaper like everyone else.

However, this isolated incident should not be reflective of Rex Mill Middle or CCPS in general. For example, according to their Web site, this school was recently awarded three Distinguished Achievement Awards from Superintendent Kathy Cox for being one of the top 10 state schools to improve academics in Seventh Grade Reading and Science and Eighth Grade Science. According to Brooks, the school has also made AYP for four consecutive years.

“This is a very sad situation,” adds Rosa Barbee, a Rex Mill PTSA volunteer/mentor. “But we have a great team of administrators at Rex Mill Middle School. I’m very sure that this incident will not happen again.”

A few teachers I spoke with believe the two female teachers could eventually be fired for their actions. But at the very least, this trio needs to be split up, assigned to work at totally different locations far, far away from each other, and told to keep their personal business out of the workplace. And although not directly involved in the altercation, I wonder if the male will  be reprimanded at all for his part in this? (Yeah I know, don’t hate the player, hate the game.)

What repercussions do you think these teachers should receive, if any?

All three teacher need to be “FIRED” Immediately! The SACS team wrote. “Every member of the board of education is not fully committed to the protocols and guidance of good boardsmanship.” The team also expressed concerns about the school system operating with a deficit, but did not go into details. The team said they were happy to see some of the students who had left following the accreditation loss now returning. The team found the school system was operational in all but one of the mandates: following an ethics policy. The team wrote, until the district can become a purposeful community with efficacy for truly making a difference in the lives of children and young people, then attempts at systemic and systematic improvements will be meaningless.” ARE YOU FOR REAL!! All in light of metro area CRCT cheating and Cobb county 57+ illegal board meeting. Clayton’s blacks are crazy and spineless! Question, is SACS about children education or local politics? Clayton gets what it deserves! Situation like this happens often in schools and in workplaces all over America! The only difference here is plutocrats are exploiting the majority of the population actions to justify an accreditation loss threat. The fight could have been kept “In House” but the “Exploiter” took it to the mass media. Slightly over a year ago the powers that be in the county began a mass media exploitation campaign to get rid of the final four board members! That campaign continues! What a splineless major population. Clayton “deserves” what it gets!

My children attend Rex Mill and I am believe some sort of letter should have gone out to the parents to ensure the saftey of our students. If it had been a student or a students parent there would have been a letter or call to parents. Teachers should not date each other, because of situations like this happening. Rex Mill have very immature teachers and with the administrater knowing of this relationship they should have split them up long, long, long time ago.

If these teachers aren’t fired, this will send a clear message that anything goes in Clayton’s public schools whether you are a student or an employee. At an old job two women fought in the lobby on a Sunday when nobody else where there to witness and they both got FIRED come Monday. I don’t think they should lose their careers forever they should be able to work elsewhere, preferably another county school system.

I have a gifted fifth grader. I will apply to Rex Mill Middle for next year. Because this is a magnet gifted program (and many middle schools are failing), there is an application process and LOTTERY for this school. It’s a shame that the Rex Mill Middle principal couldn’t be that particular in the hiring process of its teachers.
These teachers that were involved in the fight are young. As a older former teacher many of these young teachers don’t possess the old fashioned common sense that veteran teachers know, like keep your personal business OUT of the workplace.

These teachers should not be around our young people of middle school. Do we not, at least, need to have the semblance of moral leaders for students during their formative years. Looks like what is old is new again. In the recent past, it has been multiple high school students in these kind of relationships and winding up pregnant. Now it is the teachers of middle school. What’s next – required reading of “My Baby Daddy” in elementary school.

Now the Scotts are coming back – ex D.A. Jewel has a billboard touting her new law firm – can Lee be far behind?

Fire all three for not maintaining professional decorum. Grown women fighting over a man and what somebody said to a man NOT married to neither shows the unprofessional, disrespectful, poor judgement, and lack of maturity that does not belong in the classroom. If they are allowed to remain in Clayton County Schools we will see it happen again, as there is no repercussion to grown folk behavior. We have harsher rules and consequences for children behaving badly, now let this trio be an example of what not to do.

Like someone said on the ‘Get Schooled’ blog, a man doesn’t belong to you, no matter your ‘relations’ or the fact you carry his baby. A man is yours once he ‘puts a ring on it’. Obviously, these woman (and the many others I hear) are just being played!

For the record, I think it’s perfectly acceptable to hate the player. Who says “Don’t hate the player–hate the game”? The players. The women behaved unprofessionally. The man instigated the situation. Just another reason coworkers need to be very careful with personal relationships at the office, whatever the office.

Why are we even talking about these teachers still? They should have been terminated already. I truly feel that these teachers need to be fired. If it was one of our children they would have been suspended or expelled based on the ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY. Our tax dollars should be used for mature teachers that will act as a positive role model for our children.

Both ladies (term used lightly) should have been fired immediately. They should not be allowed back in any classroom in any state. Instead, they are home on a PAID leave of absence, claiming the fight was personal, not school related. No student could ever pull that! If they got in a fight at school that had started at their home, they would be told “too bad”, and would have been suspended from school! It would have gone on their permanent records as well. Our state is short on money, so why would we give them paid leave and pay a substitute to replace them?

I am not surprised that Ms. Cobb was involved in this mess. She is very unprofessional and I have complained to the administration about her and nothing was done. She thinks just because her aunt is a judge in clayton county that she is above the law here. Show her that she is not and let her go. Rex Mill has no place for low rated teachers like her. When I heard the report on the radio on my way to work; before their names were released I immediately thought Chaka Cobb is at it again.

and what is this about the preacher with a deputy badge sworn in by Victor Hill – after lil Vic was gone – did he really think he was a Deputy in perpetuity or just at the leisure of the Sheriff. Somehow he forgot the request to return it to Sheriff Kembrough.

This is the same thing that Victor did for Lee Scott – Sworn in as a Deputy – with a badge and the right to carry and use a gun in that capacity. Well at least that was the way Lee described it, whenever you dared to cross paths with him. Did Kimbrough get the badge back from Daddy Scott? It is unfortunate that Ms. Cobb and Ms. Smitth have allowed their personal emotions to interfere with their judgement. I believe there are three causualties in this deplorable incident. Mr. Green, Ms. Cobb and Ms. Smith should be held accountable for their actions. I think they should be terminated after their due process rights have been exhausted.

Human Resources headed by the incomporable Douglas Hendrix should take assertive action. Dougals Hendrix is presently being investigated for sexual harrassment and he had the auducity to have one of his flunkies Dr. Stephanie Phillips (Deputy Superintendent) to conduct the inquiry. Dr. Phillips has never been a Principal or Assistant Principal. She has never worked in Human Resources in any capacity including her time working with the current Superintedent Edmond Heatley. Therefore she does not have the technical expertise to conduct an investigation of this nature. Google Dr. Phillips’ name and you will discover she has no experience in K through 12 education except for her tenure as an Assistant Superintendent of Business Services and her appointment to Deputy Superintendent by Dr. Heatly when he was the Superintendent in Chino Valley Unified School District.

Douglas Hendrix is a sexual predator of the highest caliber and he should be reassigned immediately. If Clayton county schools were above reproach, they should have secured the services of an outside investigator to investigate the sexual harrassment allegation. Clayton county schools should be as thorough in this investigation as they are in investigating alleged actions by their current employees. It is apparent that there is a double standard in the Human Resource Office of Clayton County Schools. Stay Tuned.

This county was in complete turmoil and on the brink on self destruction if things didn’t turn right during the county democrat primary elections. Another four years with Victor Hill and The Scotts, would have surely meant the end of this county and unleashed a terror unlike anything the free world has never witessed . The teachers did not exemplify professionalism, so they should suffer the consequences for their actions. How do teachers deal with parents who attempt to intimidate them with threats? Should we maintain our professionalism when threatened by both the husband and wife, or should female teachers ask their husbands to be present at conferences. It is a shame that we are even discussing whether these two will still have a job. I know there are two qualified professionals who would love to have those jobs. There is a zero tolerance for certain actions of students and two teachers fighting should also have a zero tolerance. There is no way to explain this away but it is the sad state of public schools today when these two are examples of what the children have to look up to.
Gone are the days when students could look at their teachers and say,”that’s who I want to be.” That is if they want to be successful in life. Before uniforms you could not tell the students from the teachers or if they were going to school or the club. Some simply see school as a place to pick up the opposite sex.
I know some are going to disagree but not only should the two fighting teachers go but so should the male they were involved with if he is working in the school system. Remember when there was a school resource officer who was not only involved with some students but faculty as well. The then Chief of Police called him a sexual pr editor and fired him. I’ll bet you dimes to doughnuts that these were not the only two women this guy was bedding down. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not accusing him of sleeping with students but your job is to teach and if you are at “work” chasing every skirt that comes by when do you have time to “work.” I will guarantee you that if you checked his Facebook page and text messaging you would find he has little time for school “work.”

This discussion should not be taking place at all. All THREE of the unprofessional so-called “teachers” should have been fired the DAY OF THE INCIDENT. NO EXCEPTIONS. All three individuals are an embarrassment to the black race and to educators. Teachers today are nothing compared to the teachers of yesterday. The following statement does not apply to all teacher but to some: There are dummies out there that are teaching and I have seen them personally during my years of teaching. They had very LOW GPA’s in college, so what do they do? Pick the one of the easiest majors: education. Some of these fools can’t do advance math or science or would not excel in other professions, so teaching is all they can get. Then you have your teachers who think that the workplace is one big sorority or fraternity house. They are so caught up into being an AKA, Delta, Omega, Kappa, etc but what about the education of the children? Good luck to all of those who have children enrolled in public schools today. A final word, if these three individuals worked in a predominately white school district, they all would have been fired on the spot, NO QUESTIONS ASKED.

Your side, the other side, and the truth. Who are we to judge? Watch how you treat others. All this negative energy is being poured into this issue. (Who is sleeping with who.) We have greater problems that we should be concerned with. For example, why are our students not able to compete with other Nations when it comes to education.
