What would you do with the money?

A ticket in South Carolina matched the recent Powerball drawing for $260 million, and the MegaMillions drawing here Friday night is worth $207 million.

What would be your first big purchase if you won that kind of money? What charitable organizations would you donate to?

Do you have any out-of-this-world dreams that you’d make come true with that out-of-this-world money?

Steamboat you are too funny. I remember when Georgia’s first lottery winner did that very thing. I could not believe it. Kay I would do like you but off the top I would give 10% to my church.

I would quit my job, buy a Ferrari, go to the strip club, produce a movie and divorce my wife. Not necessarily in the order, I’d divorce my wife first.

You folks need to read your bible again! The first ten percent belongs to God anyway it’s called a tithe. What you give above and beyond that constitutes real giving.

I would retire immediately, and build a shelter for needy people in Bartow County, including a free day care for Moms who have to work and cannot afford nursery care, and a place for teenagers to enjoy sports and dancing, and a kitchen for our emergency workers (firemen, police, ambulance attendents, etc.) to get a free good meal, also a pet care for people who cannot afford the expensive ones and need an emergency place to leave their furry babies where they will be safe.
And, of course, activities for the elderly to enjoy and socialize.
Then I would get me one of those Harleys with the “training wheels” and a sidecar for my big furry baby.

I’d head to some spa in Arizona so I could exercise, eat well, get pampered and decide what to do next. And if my mom could keep a secret, I’d tell her to quit her job and come with me.

Definitely give my tithe and offering to God. Then I’d pray to God about what to do next. Sure I have dreams and aspirations just like the next person but I’d want to make sure I’m not being frivilous and materialistic like I’d really want to be and most people do anyway because we’re all so excited and never had this kind of money before.

Grandma I would do like you but instead of taking care of the pet’s would build a new church because we are in need of one. It would be nice if we could team up and make some of these things happen with winning the lottery.

Build & staff a huge after-school facility for disadvantaged kids in the inner Metro area. Give 20% to various churches. Quit my job to spend time helping people. Help family members out who are struggling. And yes, once in a while indulge in leasing a private jet to fly me wherever friends, family and I want to go (Alaska, Europe, Carribean).

I would pay the balance on my car. Then I would invest heavily in “sin” by purchasing stock in companies that provide vices – cigarettes, alcohol, gambling! In good times or bad times, people are going to do what they can to enjoy themselves. OH, and Proctor & Gamble, Ga Pacific – anyone who produces toilet paper, because I bet everyone reading this wipes his ass (or pats dry). Banks – I would buy LOTS of bank stock – with the mess they are in, they can only get better!
Charity? Uhm, I already paid taxes on the money I used to BUY the winning ticket, and pay income tax on the winnings; how much do I need to give away?

I have six neices and nephews whose first words were “What did you bring me?” They get nothing!

If I pass before it is spent, I want it all converted to cash and used to fuel my funeral pyre.

Lawyerdaggett I agree with you. God more often than not will take something that man considers evil or unfavorable and use it for good. I have seen it happen many times in my own life. I think please is confused. Also, anything done in moderation is not sin. Please, if you over eat, did you know you are sinning? Gluttony is a sin.
