I am a caregiver and there is a great deal of responsibilities place upon a non-relative individual. But $12+ does not seem unreasonable. Most people can't afford what it is worth. From experience I use an hourly rate for 3 to 12 hours, one lump overnight rate for up to 3 continuous 24 hours, and then a real discount rate for 4 to 7 continuous 24 hours I am negotiable. The need for care and the caregiver pay is a difficult thing for everyone. The lady/caregiver with the $200 a week ... been there done that ... may God especially bless you! I am negotiable if you need a care aide ... give a email jingle. God bless you and yours.

I have to name an amount that I will be paid from Estate. I took care of my aunt for 1 yr. She was a very high acuity patient that required 24 hour care, she was not ambulatory and was incontinent of feces and urine. She also could not feed herself. I'm not sure wat to charge. I live in the state of Texas. Can you help?

2 years ago my 85 year old granny fell and now she is paralyzed. She's very difficult to get along with. She was ordering hospital staff around like she was some queen. She's a saavy business woman. She has 10 properties just sitting there not rented out. She doesn't qualify for VA or Medicare/Medicaid...I don't think. My two aunts cared for her for a total 1.5 years combined Now, I'm the next in line. I feel I need to go. I'm here in El Paso and she's in San Antonio. My aunt was yelling at her because of some missing money. My 3 cousins live there all boys under age 25. They steal from her and leave her in dirty diapers. My granny can be a real control freak. We have a shaky past. I found out before her fall that she commited IRS fraud with my tax returns. She has always been there for me with support and I lived with her and she never asked for rent. Thing is she was double-dipping and adding dependents when I trusted her to do my tax returns. I live a simple life in El Paso with my husband and my dogs. My granny sent me money to drive to take care of her. I will be changing diapers and feeding her. I will also be setting things straight about our past. She said she will pay me in a Medina Lake property but I need to see that in writing first. Before I go to San Antonio I will want to know what my weekly salary will be for this and that. I'm going to be living there 24/7. I want 100 per week...

My husband was diagnoised with Alzheimer's in 2007. I quit my job to care for him. When we told his sons and family he had alzheimers, we haven't heard from them since. We have had to mortgage our house, use our credit cards and do without. We have pension accounts, but when the stock market failed, we lost our investments.

We can not afford $12.00 an hour. A CNA, big deal!!! What is that a 6 week course??? Yes, I know that it is. The really sad thing is, my husband worked his whole life very hard and supported his family. We put our children through college. We thought we would be able to enjoy retirement. I lose another part of my husband everyday. It hurts him. But he and others like him are your paycheck! I realize money pays the bills. Do you think these old people want to be treated like they don't matter. Change your own diaper. That is where the real crap is. My husband is dying a slow and painful death. I'll gladly give you $12.00 an hour if I can have my husband back.

If you don't like your job, you can change jobs. I can not walk out on my husband. Neither can he can his diease. Shame on you!
