Facebook not allowing status updates, “liking”

Facebook users reported trouble with updating their status, “liking” posts and sending messages Monday morning.

Users get the following message when trying to update their status: “There was a problem updating your status. Please try again in a few minutes.”

When trying to “like” a post, users get this message: “An error occurred. Please try again in a few minutes.”

Tech blog Mashable says it tested Facebook from several different IP addresses and still had the same issues.

Return here for updates.

UPDATE, Oct. 21 10:38 a.m.:

Facebook activity appears to have returned to normal.

Funny how users scrambled to solve such a serious mystery as if we lost one of our kids and couldn’t find him/her.

Wow, it only took 2 hours to fix one of the most complex websites in the world, filled with algorithms, relational data and hyper-finite logic, but we can’t get the healthcare.gov site to function? It’s a shopping tool! Allstate, Geico, Travelocity, Amazon et al – all have more data sources and variables yet work flawlessly with millions of users/hour. Aren’t you excited that these brilliant people will be running your healthcare from now on? Good luck.
