Macy’s CEO standing by Trump despite petition

Macy’s CEO Terry Lundgren is sticking by billionaire Donald Trump and his apparel line despite an online petition to “dump Trump.”
The petition was started by Angelo Carusone of SignOn.org, a liberal website “Powered by MoveOn.org.” Carusone is trying to gather 650,000 signatures to persuade Macy’s to drop Trump’s merchandise and ads after the businessman’s repeated criticisms of President Barack Obama, culminating in an online tirade that called for a “revolution” after Obama was re-elected Nov. 6. So far, Carusone said, the petition drive has gathered more than 500,000 signatures.
Lundgren, however, told Carusone in a recent letter that while he appreciated the “clear and reasonable way” he’s expressed himself, Macy’s isn’t dumping Trump. Lundgren wrote, in part:
Please understand and appreciate that Macy’s marketing and merchandising offerings are not representative of any political position. Ours is a free society compromised of a wide range of viewpoints. Many of the individuals associated with products sold at Macy’s – or at any retailer, for that matter – express personal opinions that are not related to the merchandise we sell or to the philosophies of our company. That is the nature of a free society.
The CEO later thanked Carusone for “understanding our point of view.”
Trump’s criticism of Obama is no secret, from the president’s handling of the economy to the billionaire’s insistence that Obama produce his birth certificate – and college transcripts – to prove he’s a U.S. citizen. Trump has even offered to donate $5 million to a charity of Obama’s choosing if he reveals the documents, an offer that was ignored. Obama explained Trump to “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno by saying, “This all dates back to when we were growing up together in Kenya.”
After the election, Trump tweeted: “This election is a total sham and a travesty. We are not a democracy!”
In a statement to Bloomberg, Trump spokesman Michael Cohen said he “questioned the legitimacy and accuracy” of Carusone’s website “and the number of signatures claimed to have joined this petition.”
Carusone’s petition states: “Macy’s: Donald Trump does not reflect the “magic of Macy’s.” We urge you to sever ties with him. Macy’s says it has a strong obligation to be “socially responsible” and that “actions speak louder than words.” Indeed. It’s time to act.”
The fine print on the petition also states petitioners “agree to receive email messages from SignOn.org, MoveOn.org Civic Action and MoveOn.org Political Action.”

It’s interesting that Trump only considers the country democratic when the votes reflect his views. When the votes oppose his views something sinister must be occuring. Perhaps the country is just progressing in a new direction and there’s a very vocal group that’s unhappy about their loss of control, as well as outraged that the voting majority aren’t interested in giving it back.
They don’t need to secede, they just need to leave. It will free up a tremendous amount of government funding from medicare/medicaid social security and the true welfare queens.

Which is much better than my white ex-husband who believes that child support is optional. He plays the self-employed game. Which my lawyer tells me is most common among suburban white males, they call them selves entrepreneurs, contracts actors, businessmen all sorts or BS. They tell their boys that they make 6 figures, but either they don’t file taxes or they zero it out. While they were married, they were just lazy boys playing video games and their wife’s got sick of supporting them.
At least with Diddy, I know the daughter that he had with Sarah in 2006-2007, he gave Sarah enough support that she was able to purchase a $650k house. A house that has a Seperate Master bedroom suite for her mother, also named Sarah to live in, and enjoy her granddaughter growing up. Diddy regularly comes by to visit or pick up his daughter, when he is in town. He has since she was born. The little girl looks exactly like Diddy. How do I know this? Because I used to live on the Same street as Sarah and Sarah and Diddy’s daughter. I also spoke to the grandma, Sarah several times and e-mailed with her about neighborhood stuff. They are two very nice educated and classy ladies. I personally did not realize that this was Diddy’s child for over a year until one of the kids told me they saw him. I just though it was a nice professional educated mother and daughter, 3 generation family.
I paid for my house in the same subdivision without my ex husband. In fact since they were cluster homes about 1/2 the home had Professional female headed households with owners.

Jess- Obama did show his birth certificate. Yet people still think it’s a conspiracy and that he’s not from the US. So showing it was useless because many Obama haters are just determined to find reasons to disapprove of or despise him, no matter what evidence he shows or what he accomplishes. As for showing his college records, who on earth still has their college applications?? I know I don’t – got rid of them as soon as I got into college. And a school wouldn’t keep it. Unless Obama was a hoarder there’s no reason to have kept them. So asking for college records is putting him in a position he can’t fulfill. Even transcripts are hard to obtain once you’ve been out of school as long as him and they don’t indicate your race or what country you’re originally from. And like others pointed out, other presidents haven’t had to show their college applications. Why should obama? Especially when he already showed his birth certificate.
One thing you might look up is that there are birther questions about President Chester A Arthur. Debate as to whether he’s from the US or Canada. Yet he presided over our country and everything remained well and fine.
As for Trump, I think he’s got to quit bashing Obama, especially about how Obama handles the economy. Especially considering Trump has gone bankrupt a number of times!
