Kohl’s hiring 58,000 seasonal workers

Kohl’s Department Stores says it will hire 52,700 store associates for the upcoming holiday season, a 10 percent increase over last year’s in-store seasonal hiring.

An additional 5,700 seasonal workers will be hired at distribution centers and 30 additional staffers for the retailer’s credit operations.

The retailer is hiring, on average, 41 workers per store. There are more than two dozen Kohl’s locations in metro Atlanta. The retailer has 1,146 stores in 49 states.

The jobs are part time and range from positions on the loading dock and in freight processing to stocking shelves  and cashiers. The hours range from a few to more than 20 a week. The retailer hopes to finish hiring by mid-November.

More information about the retailer’s hiring needs can be found here.

I’ll apply for the seasonal work, but I won’t be voting for the Chicago gangster in the White House. I’m college educated, drug-free and dependable, but I can’t locate fulltime employment in this economy. At least under Reagan, Bush, Clinton, and Bush I had steady employment making excellent money.

Great job . . . IF you don’t mind getting paid minimum for sweat-shop conditions and having ignorant sweat hogs yelling at you. Much easier to just stay on the gubba-mint teat.

The AJC is reporting that more than 600 state agencies have failed to comply with the E-Verify component of Georgia’s tough anti-illegal immigrant law. Judging from the comments on this blog, it’s no wonder.

@ Raymond: You keep looking for Management jobs and continue to be unemployed (or underemployed). I bet you complain about immigrants (both legal and illegal) taking the service jobs American should be hired for yet you complain that a major retailer that is going to provide thousands of seasonal jobs isn’t offering management positions. Wow! It takes one step at a time to get back to employment. You could be working a part time job making some type of living instead of complaining.

After being out of work for 14 months, I may look into this just to put something together. Sleeping in my car could become quite uncomfortable.

My next door neighbor took a seasonal, part-time job at a major department store about twenty years ago. She is now Vice-President for the Eastern US.

Take a shot if you think you have something to offer. Shut your mouth if all you want to do is complain.

No one owes you anything.

I just applied to Macy’s for seasonal and I had to complete a 12 page personality questionaire for a min. wage sales job. Oh, and according to Macy’s I cannot call to follow up on my application-they will call you, you cannot call them.

The ignorance of some really amaze me. If all you had to post was something negative you should have just kept it to yourself. If you don’t want to apply for the jobs then don’t.

So sick of hearing all the whining. Stay unemployed. If I needed a job and that’s all I could get to pay my bills then I would take it.

Forget your election year comments for a minute idiots, these seasonal jobs are the same ones that come around every year, even before you were found under the cabbage leaf. They ebb and flow with the times. In that Kohl’s is hiring as many seasonal workers, it’s not a negative indicator.

No, you cannot repair a broken, overextended, pay-on-the-monthly, housepoor, clueless Bush-era economy in three years. Economies do not work that way. Markets have to work in real time, and in this case, you were told it would take many years to recover from the hangover, and we’re still in it. Obama did not create the mess. Maybe do a little lookback at headlines of 2007-8, when he wasn’t even the nominee.

Great news for anyone seeking temp work over the holidays. My experience in seasonal retail from 11 years back was that many seasonal were kept on permanently, I was and remained with Target for nearly 2 years after my “seasonal” job.

Love reading the ignorant Anti-Obama drivel posted around here.

My household is firmly middle-upper class, educated, pay 5 digits (low teens) yearly in federal income tax alone, both professionals working 9-5 Monday-Friday and we both voted Obama in ‘08 and will again this year.

In 28 years I have used the government for 2 months of unemployment when I was laid off back in 2006, In 36 years my other half has used the government for 3 months of unemployment when laid off back in 2006.

Do a little research. The economy started going in the tank after the 2006 mid-term elections when the Democrats took over the Congress; then the Kenyan-born community organizer was elected in 2008. Look where we are now. The actual unemployment rate is over 15% when you factor those no longer on the unemployment rolls or those who have stopped looking.

Interesting how this article turned into a bash the President contest. Hopefully those who are looking for work might find something. While the rest of the haters here just do what they do best. Offer nothing to contribute to the betterment of anybody reading this blog. Must be really sad to get each morning with nothing but negativity in your heart and on your mind.

Those are typical Obama jobs; low paying and short-lived.

What happened to all that stimulus money American taxpayers will have to pay for generations to come?

I endorse Barack Hussein Obama and his re-election as president. With the number of actual unemployed Americans under his watch, my presidency doesn’t seem that bad after all these years. His special relationship with his Muslim brothers is looking pretty obvious !
