While chickens are running for the hills and competitors are turning green with envy, Chick-fil-A accountants have to be giddy over Wednesday’s packed restaurants as patrons bought chicken sandwiches in droves to show support for company President and COO Dan Cathy.
The question now is whether there will be a repeat of the crowds Friday when gays and lesbians are expected to turn out for a “National Same-Sex Kiss Day” to protest Cathy’s recent warnings that the nation is “inviting God’s judgment” because it is trying to “redefine” marriage as anything but being a union between and man and woman.
The Atlanta-based privately held company said it had a record sales day Wednesday, though it didn’t provide specifics Thursday in comments to the AJC. “While we don’t release exact sales numbers, it was an unprecedented day.”
As for the fallout over Cathy’s recent comments, the company earlier said, “Going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena.”
Thousands of people in metro Atlanta and across the nation packed restaurants for Wednesday’s “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” led by former presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee. The former Arkansas governor told Fox News the day’s success went beyond “anything I could have imagined.”
Huckabee also said he doesn’t oppose Friday’s protest, “As long as they’re orderly. As long as they don’t disrupt the flow of customers and traffic,” he told Fox.
Friday’s “Kiss Day” is being sponsored by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, which has called for a boycott of Chick-fil-A not only for Cathy’s comments but also for the millions of dollars GLAAD says Chick-fil-A, through its WinShape philanthropic wing, has donated to groups that lobby against legalization of same-sex marriage. In its “Skip the Sandwich” campaign, GLAAD wants patrons to take the $6.50 they would pay approximately for a meal and donate the money to gay and lesbian rights groups, and post “Kiss Day” pictures on the Internet.
Even some of Chick-fil-A’s competitors appear to be trying to catch some of the attention. According to CNN, some Wendy’s franchises in the Carolinas erected signs outside their restaurants that said, “We Stand With Chick-fil-A.”

Never have I been quite as concerned for the state of this country as I am now, after Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day. Let me be clear, I HAVE NOT boycotted Chick-fil-A because of company President Dan Cathy’s comments on marriage equality. I may not personally agree with him, but that’s the beauty of America; we have the right to express our opinions freely. I HAVE boycotted Chick-fil-A because Dan Cathy has used profits from Chick-fil-A to donate five million dollars to organizations that advocate criminalizing gay people, denying gay people the ability to serve in the military, denying gay people the right to marry, depicting gay people as pedophiles, making it okay to fire gay people, denying gay parents access to their own children, denying children of gay couples the protection that comes from having both parents recognized as having responsibility for that child, treating gay people as broken, in need of repair, and depraved, along with a host of other oppressive initiatives. Yesterday, thousands of Americans packed into Chick-fil-A’s across the nation, many seeking only delicious chicken, but many others went to show their support of the anti-gay organizations and initiatives that Dan Cathy supports. I worry for what that says about us as a nation. I fail to understand how denying anyone their human right to marry, to serve their country, to be a parent, or simply to exist free of discrimination can be justified by ANY means, especially in a country founded on the principle of the separation of church and state. Just because one group does not approve of another’s lifestyle does not grant them the right to deny the other their rights as equal citizens, and I will defend this view as long as I live.

Very nice writing, Christopher, well done.
It’s about time liberals stopped calling anyone who doesn’t have their dysfunctional viewpoints “haters.”
Conservatives need to support CFA and to boycott:
Oreos (Nabisco, earlier this summer, put them in a bag featuring a cookie with a multicolored gay-pride stuffing) Cheerios, Pillsbury pastries and Green Giant vegetables (owner General Mills is opposing a Minnesota constitutional amendment that would outlaw gay marriage).
JC Penney, which has put pictures of gay dads in its catalogs and uses Ellen Degeneres as its spokeswoman Apple hates Christians and conservatives – they censored the Manhattan declaration while allowing all kinds of perverse apps on their store – are your faith and your values worth less than a glossy gadget?
Amazon’s CEO hates conservative values, so does facebook – they shut down Mike Huckabee’s Chick-fil-A appreciation site for 12 hours right before CFA D-day.
Is it sensible to give your money to powerful corporations who are working to smear your views and to destroy your your 1st Amendment rights?

Yes, Chick-fil-A certainly had a windfall on Wednesday. But unless the opponents of marriage equality for Gay couples eat there EVERY DAY, I don’t think Chick-fil-A is going to benefit much in the long run:
http://research.yougov.com/news/2012/07/27/chck-fil-takes-perception-dive-fast-food-eaters/
Having your own personal opinions, and conducting your own personal life as your religious beliefs dictate, is one thing.
Working actively to deny others the rights, benefits, and protections that you yourself take for granted is quite another.
Dan Cathy donates millions of dollars in Chick-fil-A profits every year to organizations that work actively to deny law-abiding, taxpaying Gay Americans the rights, benefits, and protections that he takes for granted. Fine, he’s entitled to do so. And no doubt many people who agree with him will eat at Chick-fil-A more often. Maybe they should eat there EVERY day; it will do WONDERS for their waistlines and blood pressure. But I think the majority of Americans who now support some form of marriage equality for Gay couples will take their money elsewhere. I have LOTS of Straight friends, and although they say they like the food at Chick-fil-A, they would rather not have their money being used for anti-Gay causes.

OH, you silly humans. Still fighting to stay contracted, misguided and medieval. Gay people are asking for nothing more than what every other human being has the right to do – marry the one he/she loves. Not marry a donkey. Not marry twelve people. A union between two consenting adults – just like you. That’s all. There are already gay persons who are married in this country and guess what? “Traditional” marriage has not been damaged in the process. Yes, have your freedom of religion and in turn, accept that some do not follow your same beliefs, and that’s their right, too. These people are sharing their lives – the ups, downs, the illnesses, struggles, triumphs, deaths – and to deny them what is rightfully theirs, just as it is yours, is the real threat to the fabric of our communities and society.

Never did Chick Fil A refuse service – they’re not discriminating against anyone. So much for the first ammendment – God forbid anyone have an opinion about something and voice it for the fear of offending someone. You people need to get a life. Let’s ask an OPENLY CHRISTIAN business owner his view about GAY MARRIAGE and be SHOCKED when he states his answer – which is not POLITICALLY CORRECT, but BIBLICALLY CORRECT. Anyone ask the owner of HOBBY LOBBY his view??? They’re not open on Sunday’s either. I respect the biblical definition to heterosexual marriage. I am a Christian. I also love the people in my life who are gay and I support gay equality… With that being said. What I do not support is how the gay community wants to deform the original biblical definition to marriage which is a union between man and woman in order to procreate.
Take a high school diploma and a G.E.D as examples. A teenager obtains his high school diploma through full-filling his 4 academic years with grades above average, he gains a high school diploma.
Another teenager drops out of school yet obtains a G.E.D by finishing his high school tests.
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA AND G.E.D= THE SAME.
Two different names to mean the same thing, but why are they named differently? It is SIMPLE. They were obtain in different fashions.
Marriage is for man and woman to procreate. Same-sex couples is nothing of the sort, even biologically.
Civil Unions are a good name which mean the same thing as marriage yet have differences and the name Civil Union is a word created to define the union of same-sex couples…..
Not sure why the gay community does not understand that. Rather they call Christians who don’t conform to their beliefs RACISTS??? REALLY???

And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. -Romans 1:27
This is what you get when tell God that He is not welcome here. Our nation would rather be run by homosexuals, pedophiles, murderers, and criminals. You end up with a govt that sacrifices its own people through terror as they did on 9/11, as they do thru poisons in the vaccines, fluoride in the water, chemtrails, and who knows what else. You get illegal wars where your sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, fathers, and mothers die. You get a political system that is so corrupt it wouldn’t function any more if you took away the corruption. You get storms, floods, droughts, sand storms, and earthquakes. You get a monetary system based on debt and deceit. Judgment sucks, doesn’t it America? Glad these are the end times and soon Christ will set all things right. So be it.

I think it’s all well and good- say what you want. They ought to be prepared to back up their words with their pocketbooks. I want to see them stop serving gays, stop taking their money. And quite honestly, Wendy’s agreeing will get it nowhere. The smartest thing any competitor could do right now is go against Chikadee and come out on the other side FOR gays. That is where the money is and if any other accountants want to get ‘giddy’ they should support the right for gays to be married. Let’s see what happens then. You cannot stop what will one day be! Just as women are allowed to vote and blacks are no longer slaves, so will America learn from those mistakes and allow gays to be married and have the same rights as anyone else!

Human…this is not about equal protection under the law. This is about Mr. Cathy’s first amendement rights and the government (Chicago, Boston, DC, SF) trying to suppress that right. I believe that the government should be out of the business of sanctioning personal relationships. However, given that my quest for government to get out of our personal business is quixotic, at best, I believe that homosexuals shouldn’t be denied the same priveleges as heterosexuals (of course, the same government hassles, too). That being said, it is very dangerous precedent when mayors of major cities decide to punish businesses for speech with which they disagree. Most of the people that supported CFA did so because they are concerned that these mayors were attempting to suppress free speech. Was the Committee on Unamerican Activities that long ago that we’ve forgotten that lesson? People are free to decide for themselves which businesses they wish to patronize. However, when the government tries to make the decision for us (as these mayors have said they will), they violate the First Amendment.

I have never been nearly concerned about my country as I’ve been this past few days. When someone states an opinion in support of a traditional Christian value (for little less than 2000 years) – and the company is threatened by government officials openly and brazenly I fear for our country.
At what point do we have tests to see if business permits are issued based upon if their political views are inline with whomever is running the area? Now the politics have backed down a little from their “never here” positions. I suspect someone reminded them that the first amendment has this thing called free speech and freedom of religion.
I don’t care what the position is or how offensive it is to you or me, your lifestyle or mine, your skin color or mine, either gender, any faith and so on. In America, this county, our country, people have EVERY right to SAY what they believe without the government punishing them for holding such a view.
I worry what it says about us as a nation when people support the government silencing ideas that are currently unpopular with whomever is in office. Somehow our rights are subject to the ruling party, is this REALLY what we want as a country? What if the government officials were calling for the banning of gay bars? If you support banning one company for one view, you can’t get upset when the politician is against what you support.
I feel people, especially on the left, are so intolerant of anyone else’s right to voice an opinion opposite of theirs that their leaders feel entitled to use the force of government to silence those voices. They equate any deviation from their thoughts as an example of “hatred” or “anti-”whatever. Makes it very difficult to even care about their position or carry on any meaningful conversation because it just ends in name calling (racist, sexist, war on woman, war on children, hater, anti-woman, anti-gay and so on) when it simply isn’t even close to the truth.

@Will Johnson – It appears to have slipped your attention that homosexuals ARE NOT A CONSTITUTIONALLY PROTECTED CLASS. This particular perversion is as ancient as any other sin, and it is disingenuousness at its best to pretend that our Founding Fathers were not aware of homosexuals. Beings they were aware of homosexuals, if they wanted them included in the protected classes they would have.
You say it is not a choice, but other homosexuals do not agree with you and say it is a choice – they even then go so far to say that even many of those of you who claim you were born that way only say this because if you acknowledged it was a choice, you could not seek protected status. Its a self serving argument, and therefore invalid,
Until science definatively and unanimously agrees that it is a genetic defect, then it is a choice.
The table goes both ways as well. If we are homophobes ( an inaccurate use of the term ), because we do not agree with your ideology, then you are heterophobes because you do not agree with our ideology. If we are haters and intolerant because we do not agree with your views on marriage, then you are equally haters and intolerant because you do not subscribe to our views on marriage.
Homosexuals constantly commit the fallacy of equivocation ( not the pun form ) when they fallaciously attempt to equate the HATRED of a groups BEHAVIOR, with the HATRED of the people that comprise that group.
We do not hate you Will, we are just disgusted by your vile sexual behaviors., behaviors for which there is NO biological provision. You will notice there is no such thing as HOMOSEXUAL sex organs. You are ALL born with HETEROSEXUAL equipment.
We dont hate you, we love you as Gods Children as well, but just as with our own biological children whom we love, loving them DOES NOT equate nor is synonomous with putting up with their unacceptable behaviors.
I love my daughter, but I do not put up with every behavior she comes up with simply because I love her.
I also HATE many of her behaviors and actions; that does not mea that I HATE my daughter.

WOW! Really?
Unbelievable how the gay rights people have a problem with Chick-Fil_A and traditional family values. Don’t patronize them if you don’t like their stance. It’s really that simple. I’m tired of being Politically Correct and Tolerant. It is an unnatural life style and un-Christian if you believe The Bible is The Word of God. Wizzbang had some “silly” comments. If it’s OK to have a union between same sex couples why wouldn’t it be OK for a man to have 5 wives or a women to have 5 husbands, or for that matter, marry a donkey while you’re at it? Odd logic Wizzbang. Human beings were designed to procreate. Gay couples can’t do that unless you implant eggs or get a surrogate. Then there’s the dilemma of raising a stable child in an odd environment. It’s just not right. However, up until now, I didn’t have a problem with the screwed up life style some have chosen. But, since the unnatural minority decided to voice their distorted opinion I felt obligated to do the same. Since it’s OK for “them” to push their lifestyle choices into the public eye, expose my child to it in school and the media, and expect us to “tolerate” it, they should tolerate the blow back they’re receiving. Wouldn’t that be fair? Who started this to begin with? Those with the abnormal lifestyle and their sympathizers would say it was Dan Cathy. That would be wrong. Had they ignored Dan’s charitable contributions we wouldn’t be having this exchange. They brought it upon themselves… woke the sleeping giant, so to speak. Most heterosexuals are appalled by the gay life style, but have been relatively quiet until now. I’ve always thought, to each his own, no matter how disgusting and perverted I thought it was. Now, since they decided to open the can of worms it’s time for them to eat them. Yesterday was a beautiful display of how people truly feel. That dialog in the line at Chick-fil-A was AWESOME. NO TOLERANCE WHATSOEVER. And Wizzbang, the people that feel they need to throw their perversions into the face of the heterosexual norm are “the real threat to the fabric of our communities and society.”

So someone asked a “hard-core” Christian owner his views and they are surprised he said what he said. I have not heard of him discriminating against gay people, I have actually heard of him giving scholarships to them and not turning anyone away. I guess they want to boycott people who do not share their same beliefs so I guess they just want everyone else to be understanding of theirs views but they cannot be understanding of Cathy’e views. I see this as hypocritical.

This country was founded on Christian ideas, because they were right. Just like the Isrealites did, we have forgotten who saved us. One day you will fall on your knees and ask why. Well you should be thankful you live in a free country, but you also need to remember the one who died to save you. Look back on our country when we went to church and were not afraid to say we were a Christian. If more good was shown on TV and mentioned on the radio, our jails would not be so over crowded. Some of the people thrive on bad news and then they make it a big deal that there are people who don’t know the Lord and will commit crimes, just to get recognized. If we showed more good deeds, maybe more people would do good things. It appears that when people do good things, like Chick-fil-A, they are critisized. The Bible says to be fruitful and multiply, so tell me how in the world can you multiply if you marry the same sex! Even animals have more sense than that!!

This is not so much a matter of discrimination but a matter of our right to have freedom of speech. It is not my place to judge anyone. The media loves making a big deal out of anyone who may still believe in traditional values. Does this mean that each of us as individuals no longer have the right to feel and have our own opinions. I personally do not want my freedoms messed with. It has already gotten to the point that many of our rights are on the line. Let the gay and lesbians have their rights, but also let the people who may not believe in this have their opinion without being assaulted.

[...] The nearly half-mile backup and the carnival-like atmosphere was due to a “show of support” for the local Chick-Fil-A franchise, which also gave away free sundaes. Turns out, my neighborhood Chick-Fil-A wasn’t the only one getting the love from homophobes. A national effort to rally around the restaurant chain, which wears its evangelism on its corporate sleeves, took place yesterday. Such luminaries as Michele Bachmann – on break from her Muslim Brotherhood witch hunt – and Sarah Palin – on break from her daily stupid (oh wait, never mind) – have also shown their support for the restaurant, whose CEO, Dan Cathy, apparently has never been invited to a same-sex wedding and is pretty pissed. The only reason we as a nation continues to exist is because of people who have taken a stand for what is morally right. “Then he said, “Let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak but once more: Suppose ten should be found there?”And He said, “I will not destroy it for the sake of ten.” Genesis 10:32 People who are not perfect but continue to pursue what is right before the all mighty God. When people go out of their way to chase after unrighteousness and spit in the face of God with the kind of life they have chosen to live are all signs that we are livening in the last days!

Then again, politics makes strange bedfellows; remember when the church women and boot leggers united to keep the liquor laws out? It is NOT just about equal rights; it is about forcing a lifestyle on people, teaching kids about it, etc. Some folks think it is just as wrong as others do it is right. I’ll repeat what I’ve said multiple times on this topic. As a gay man in a 25+ year relationship I support Dan Cathy’s right to state his beliefs. In fact, you would have to be pretty dim to not know Chick-fil-a is a Christian-based business — being closed on Sunday is the biggest clue. While I don’t agree with Cathy’s beliefs, they are only his and in no way affect my life. What I don’t appreciate are the various comments indicating I’ve made a choice, am perverted, and I’m doomed to hell based on who I am.
As for the “gay agenda”, I’m not really sure what that is. My agenda is to provide for my family, support my community and local schools, give back to others, help those in need and stay true to my belief’s. I’ve yet to see any school curriculum where the “gay agenda” was included.

Yep, they sure are for diverstiy and equality so long as you hold the same opinion as them. If you don’t, they are suddenly not very tolerent at all.
Gay marriage has been shot down in flames everywhere it’s come to public vote. The majority is against it. Democracy is majority rule, so tuff. Get over yourselves, you are not special because you’re gay. You’re just gay, that’s all. You deserve NOTHING for that.

I think this has nothing to do with gay/lesbian marriage/equal rights at all, but has everything to do with Dan Cathy’s right to voice his own opinion. What he believes in will not affect whether gay marriage is legalized in the U.S. or not.
I am bi sexual and yesterday I stood for what was right in the line at Chic-fil-a, Freedom of Speech. Sure I do not completely agree with Mr. Cathy’s statement, but it is his right to voice his own opinion.
All this over reacting to a comment we all already knew he believed in (the man is Christian… Bible has the same belief writen) all it has done is bring more publicity to Chic-fil-a. So for all you ‘haters’ out there, go on and hate, he’ll continue to succeed.

Mr. Cathy can believe what ever he wants. But for the record, he has been a big financial supporter at Berry College in Rome. When they wanted to organize a LGBT group, he threatened to withdraw all support from the college. So it isn’t just about marriage , it is about homosexuality and his disapproval of it. I like his food once in a while, but I will think twice before going again. I don’t like that his Winshape foundation feeds money to anti gay groups. Why not just use the money for something positive in stead of negative? He has done lots of good things but now they are overshadowed by this. Just another silly old Southern man who would probably like to eliminate women’s voting rights and integration because “them were the good ole days”.

FOUR PART RESPONSE:
1. Just as chic-fil-a accepted responsibility and financialnaccountability according Biblical standards; as a family owned business they have the right and the responsibility to run their lives and their business according to Biblical standards.
2. To constrain anothers rights as a way of expressing personal freedom is incongruent with life.
3. There is a greater implication that has everything to do with the Bible and nothing to do
with choices. If one does NOT believe in the Bible, this will not make sense; if you do, read on:
What if there were no children or grandchildren? It could happen!!
Population control would be a cinch! “And God blessed them; and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth (Gen. 1:28).
What if the controlled population was living in sin? Who wins? Satan!
The Playing Field would be level in the mind of Satan…Then he could get on with the business of “defeating” God!! “Less people to seduce and those that are there are living in sin!!!”
What a game for Satan!! What if the bulls, roosters, and other designated “reproducers” decided to replicate this reality?” It is not about sex, it is about fulfilling God’s Will.
4. God’s message to Chic-fil-a: “Don’t be afraid of people. I am with you, and I will rescue you,” declares the Lord.”Jeremiah 1:8 GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

The lines were too long on Wednesday. Friday will be just as busy – normal, traditional folks will flock to CFA for some laughs and entertainment from the entitled “ME” crowd. Bring the Pride spectacle and entertain the diners while they are waiting for and then enjoying their food.
ChickfilA is grateful to the Gay community for increasing its sales so they can contribute even more money to the myriad of organizations that they support.
And for dessert to finish off that meal, we will relish in the sweetness that the Gay community is coming out of the closet for the wolves in sheep’s clothing that they really are. Shwing your true colors and entitlement attitude has turned more Americans against your lifestyle.

“Biblical Principles”. Seriously?? Do you people even KNOW what the bible tells us? Men should own their wives, it isn’t an “equal” relationship. When man & woman marry, a man owns everything of the wives, her property, her rights…everything. The woman gives up all rights to be a servant to her husband. Marriages today are not like that, does this mean that Chick Fil-A also is opposed to current marriage? What about other parts of the bible that say that a man can take more than one wife, have concubines, have sex with as many people as he wants because that is the way the bible portrays it? That is okay, right? So having many sexual partners is okay but being a faithful, loving, good person is not okay if you happen to love someone of the same sex??
I guess being a good person isn’t good enough any more. I think people push their judgements off on on others and use the bible as their defense to be bad people, be discrimminatory and spread hatred. God isn’t about hatred. The only one who can judge is God and I think Christianity borders on cult at times with the whole “holier than thou” approach.
Chick Fil-A has a right to its own beliefs, but not a right to openly discrimminate and this is discrimmination. But, I guess that anything is okay to do as long as you use the “bible” as your basis for that decision
If they were an Islamic company who based their beliefs on the Quoran, I bet these same Christians would be singing a completely different tune.
What is wrong with America isn’t the values. What is wrong with America is that religious sects want to control the minds of the people and not allow love, respect, faith and peace to reign supreme.

My stance on this matter is that there is too much that is not medically known for anyone to judge this matter. Matter of fact – no one should be judging anyone, but one self. With that said –
Cathy spoke as a citizen expressing his opinion. Because Cathy runs a multi-billion dollar enterprise does not negate his RIGHT to HIS opinions and beliefs. It is his right to support or disagree with whomever he chooses, and he has the freedom to express it. Just as you have the right to your ideals and beliefs, so does everyone else. As long as a person’s beliefs do not provoke a person to do bodily harm to or to end someone’s life of those who believe differently than they do, that is their GOD given right. That is the foundation of this country is FREEDOM.
GLAAD is wrong to infringe on Cathy’s RIGHTS. In addition, they are not attacking Cathy, but infringing on individual franchise owners. If on Friday the GLAAD community disrupts Chick-fil-A’s business operations with their protest, every Chick-fil-A owner has the RIGHT to have them lawfully removed form their property and business. Unlawful assembly is ILLEGAL.

I believe most of the gay people I know support Mr. Cathy’s right to free speech. Its the millions he is donating to prevent them from the right to marry. JCPenny donated NOTHING to any anti-traditional marriage campaign ( I can’t find on the internet where any anti-traditional organizations even exist). All JCPenney did was hire Ellen Degeneres to do commercials. Thats it. And boy did the boycotts start of JCPenney. I’m also curious as to why people who keep quoting the Bible to support their view against gay marriage don’t also go by what the Bible says as fat as “Not to Judge”? Also, the Bible speaks of divorce as a sin, more than once. So I’m assuming these anti-gay marriage people want to make divorce illegal. Heck, you can use verses in the Bible to defend slavery. Thats what white Southerners used in the 19th century to justify owning Africans. The Bible defends slavery. I mean REALLY, how do you pick and choose what to use in the Bible to support your beliefs?? WOW

The boycott and brouhaha is NOT simply about equal marriage rights for gays and lesbians. It is about the money that Chick-fil-A gives to organizations that specifically work to harm gays and lesbians.
Chick-fil-A uses that money to support organizations that exist solely to try to “fix” people from being gay. Chick-fil-A knowingly gives to an organization that lobbies US Congress to NOT condemn Uganda for legislation that would KILL GAY PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY ARE GAY.
This isn’t about his right to free speech. Let him speak his views. He can shout them from the top of any one of his restaurants. The reason why gay people are angry is because of the hypocrisy of Chick-fil-A’s stating they treat EVERYONE with respect and dignity, but yet they contribute to organizations that blatantly do the opposite.

blah blah blah blah. so tired of the gays (or liberal supporters of gays) crying and whining when things don’t go their way. what’s worse, is them resorting to lying when they don’t get their way. “it’s hate”. my civil rights are being violated”. “the bible says you can’t judge” (NOT TRUE). wa wa wa wa wa. for the record, since dan cathy gave his OPINION, and he is a Christian, therefore, this has become a dividing line over that statement, let’s clear up exactly what the bible does say about homosexuality. it condemns it as immoral. Jesus condemned it himself in several passages, so there is the “judgement” on it biblically. he is God, he created all things, so only His opinion matters. not “government”. not “individuals”. only God. what he says, goes.
you know how you can really tell what God thinks about homosexual sex? about any kind of homosexual sex? there isn’t ONE PASSAGE anywhere in Gods word that high fives any kind of homosexual sex. not even a hint of it. anytime the bible refers to homosexual sex, old OR new testament, it condemns it. so if you think Christians are supposed to give it a “free pass”, on any grounds, your sadly mistaken. Christians are to NEVER call sin anything other than what it is.
so yesterday’s show of support is exactly what Christ asks us to do. i just think it’s funny that “the other side” cries and whines because their arrogant enough to think that only their opinion is valid. ahhhh nope. all of history, and every culture since the creation of mankind disagree’s with you, that homosexual sex is unnatural. it will never be re-labeled as “normal”. no Christian worth their salt would sit and watch that happen. “we” are CALLED to take a stand against what is “unnatural”…

I think we need to get a few things straight.
1) Chick-fil-a is a privately held company. What the company decides to do with their profits is their own business and is not subject to the approval of anyone. If you do not like what they do, then don’t do business with them.
2) Chick-fil-a has always said that they treat their “customers” with respect and equality. Once you have paid your bill and received your food, it is up to them as to what they do with the money. The only recourse you have is to not do business with them if you don’t like it.
3) When it comes to gay rights and gay marriage, there are basically three camps. Those who support these right, those who are indifferent, and those who oppose those rights. Pick one.
4) People claim that because I oppose their view on gay marriage and will not support it, that I am a bigot or a hater. Well, if you feel that way, then it also means that you oppose my view on traditional marriage and will not support it, so I guess that makes you a bigot or a hater. I didn’t call you that, you did.
5) Some supporters of gay marriage and gay rights have asked me “what would you do if it impacted you personally? What if your child said they were gay?” Well, if that were to happen, I would have to decide where my values resided. Do I go with my Christian beliefs or throw all of that out the window. I would choose my Christian beliefs. Oh, and just to show the truth in my words, I actually did kick my transgender son out of the house. I cannot allow that type of life to be under my roof. My wife and I told him that if he wanted to come and visit, he would have to leave his life style at home.
6) I can respect someone who is gay and I have no problem with them living their own life. However, I will not stand by and allow this type of behaviour issue to degrade and destroy the
Christian values I hold so dear and were also part of the foundation blocks this country was built on. Remember, you have the right to speak your mind, but so do I. You have the right to vote, and so do I. I and so many before and after me, were willing to put our lives on the line in order to protect those rights you so freely express during this event.
7) On Friday, same sex couples are planning on staging a kiss-in at Chick-fil-a restaurants across the country. Question, are they planning on purchasing anything? If so, doesn’t that make them hypocritical? If they don’t, are they not actually trespassing, in a manner of speaking? You go into a resturant and take up valuable space and personnel resources with no intention of ordering anything? Sounds rather stupid to me. I was glad to wait 20+ minutes for my food on Wednsday night.

In the not too distant future, SCOTUS will overturn DOMA and the 31 states who ban marriage equality will be forced to recognize same sex marriage. The Jeebus peoples only argument, “it’s in the Bible” and “we’ve always done it this way” just won’t hold up in court. So let the ignorant enjoy their little “victory.” It’s one of their last gasps. Its not rocket science!!!!! I have seen plenty of Gay’s in my local Chick-fil-a and they have never been treated any differently than I have. Those protesting and voicing their opinion are de facto protesting the same right that CFA has to make it’s views known when asked (in an interview, might I add). That seems quite hypocritical and intolerant of those protesters.
Also, the protesters are doing nothing but to further advertise and, thereby fund MORE CFA sandwiches being sold. As such, they are perpetuating their own issue.

Chick-fil-A is a first-class company. No business should be penalized for their beliefs. It’s amazing that Obama said he was for traditional marriage when he was trying to get elected and he got no flack for this. Cathy saying we are “inviting God’s judgement” by ‘redefining traditional marriage sounds like, pardon the expression, “Chicken Little”….#1 Cathy doesn’t have a clue as God’s judgement….”God” has delivered no specific message to him or anyone else regarding this subject and anyone who claims he has is full of baloney. Jesus, “Son of God” never touched on the subject either. There are however references written by men (and women, too but their “books” were omitted) included in the Bible to any number of subjects we pay little or no attention to today. And, there are any number of examples of Biblical figures with multiple wives which was “traditional marriage” at that time. Cathy needs to stick to running restaurants and quit speaking for God. Thus proving you liberals live in a echo chamber..all your little liberal friends hate something, so you assume everyone does…meanwhile the vast majority of the country are against gay marriage, as exampled by the 0-32 record you have in battling anti gay marriage constitutional amendments on a state level. Even california voters told the gays to prance away and be content with civil unions.

What is amazing to me is how the liberals who preach tolerance are the most intolerant of all. It is the very epitome of hypocrisy. Even Boston’s mayor who stated that he would not allow a restaurant in his city that was intolerant of a population is, himself, being intolerant of a population (Christians). I actually feel sorry for the 2 to 4% of the US population that identifies itself as “gay.”
Again, we have a minority of the population dictating to the rest of us how things are supposed to be run. Just like the 12 to 14% of the population who are black. And our idiot politicians pander to these groups…absolutely incredible.

I met 21 lesbians at a party when I was in art school. They were all clustered together chatting amongst themselves. I engaged them in conversation because: 1 I am a curious person, 2 I like the opposite and wondered why? They were very nice and spent some time in discussion. 21 out o 21 women said they chose the life because down to the last very single one had been sexually abused as a child or violently abused by heterosexual men in their families. This was before the big push for political power so I can’t discount a genuine honest answer given prior to ths big push.
At one time the CDC published their findings related to aids studies and found the average soul partners of a homosexual man was over 500. Psychologists pinpointed over bearing hateful mothers as a motivator of hatred for women that often shows up in the male homosexual. Gay parades appeared to be entirely devoted to the disply of a disapated party lifestyle, and maybe Hollywood displays stereotypes of homo lifestyle so tht it is hard to see truth. One last lesbian I personally know engages in the lifestyle and yet hates it herself, she states began when her aunt crawled into her bed and molested her for years. Throughout history homosexuality and pedestary were synonymous and I know to much about human nature to believe for a second anything about that he changed. From parks that are tryst locations for strangers to airport bathrooms, little about the behavior and historical practice convinces me that this is just about political power and legal access to children. I believe in the freedom in adults to choose their life. I believe when ome one is doing their job there should be no discrimination. I know there are as many sick gruesome murders commited by homosexuals as there are against them, the press is dishonest on this point. the hate and targeting of businesses by homosexuals shows the intolerance of the homosexual power structure who seek to force their views every bit as hateful and violently as ever the catholic church tried in their violent history. Because “born that way” is a gaga song and not truth, and because you are unwilling to exist with people in peace whose views are different from your own you are loosing my support to believe its about marriage. The claims of hate are being lobbed by the haters. Criminalization? I think you refer to Africa? That an ENTIRE other discussion. So many more people would be open to dialog without the lies. Targeting people who disagree with you doesn’t help your case it damages it. I can’t honey see how a chicken sandwich threatens you. Way too long for a post! I wish you peace.

I wonder what Dan Cathy thinks about Indians arranging marriages for their children? What people do behind closed doors is their business. If they want to get married, then let them do it! Who are we to say “God” said so. Last I checked, God has never spoken a word. People wrote 1,000’s upon 1,000’s of books about mythology. For all the Bible quotes this country is the United States of America not the United States of Baptists. That being said, Mr. Cathy has every right to say and do whatever he pleases with his business and people have the right to not patronize his facility. I think banning his father’s restaurants from cities is un-American. Against gay marriage? Don’t marry someone of the same sex. Against Chic Fil A? Don’t eat there. It’s when we start legislating against people who do not believe as we do that we stop having true American values.

I’ll make my stand with the Cathys and the Bible.
•Lev. 18:22, “You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.”
•Lev. 20:13, “If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them”
•1 Cor. 6:9-10, “Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”
That’s good enough for me, Homosexuals are mentioned several times in the Bible none favorably, homosexuals are not mentioned at all in the Constitution So I’m led to believe that there’s no protection nor approval. Seems queer to me that so much hate and discontent is being brought forth over something that’s clearly covered in the Bible. I read what dan Cathy said there was no hatred in it and I’m sure that if gays go to Chik Fil A they’ll be served with the same respect and service as any other patron, so I really don’t get what this is all about If the Gays were as tolerant as they expect others to be this would be a non issue. Many of us watching this insanity unfold are rapidly learning to hate.

I think both sides look like a bunch of a$$ clowns. Cathy said he supports traditional marriage. Period. He didn’t say he was firing every gay person that works for Chik-Fil-A, etc. He just doesn’t approve of gay marriage. I don’t understand being gay either. Can’t comprehend it. But I don’t care. We have more people in this country concerned about visiting Chik-Fil-A on Aug 1 or Aug 3 to do one of two things: 1) Visit Aug 1 to “support Chik-Fil-A”- wow- what a money making scam that has become- and Cathy didn’t invision this! or 2) Visit Aug 3 to kiss in front of a Chik-Fil-A to show how prideful you are. Outside of Mardi Gras, I don’t know if there is ANY event that a bunch of folks attend that aren’t gay who think it’s wonderful to kiss in public. That doesn’t prove your love anymore than getting married (since everyone thinks the Kardashian girl is a poster child for it and throws it in traditional marriages’ face- as if Cathy approves of that over gay marriage)
Both are a waste of time. Who cares? Again, we have more problems to deal with than who’s gay, what they are doing b/c they are gay, why they are gay, etc. GET OVER YOURSELVES.
I haven’t met one person yet who disapproves of the gay lifestyle who doesn’t have 1-2 family members who are gay, and they tolerate that family member (or 2, or 3, etc.).
I guess the thing is, if you don’t support gay marriage, but you showed up for Thanksgiving and two family members were gay, do you think it is respectful to ram it down their throat and let them know how awful they are? Would it be respectful for the gay couple to make a scene at Thanksgiving? Nope. So why do it in public amongst a bunch of people you don’t know and make an a$$ out of yourself?
In neither case is the other turning the other cheek and taking the high road- which is what the right thing to do is. Nope. gotta show how much of a stand we take.
To think, we have people who are poor, suffering, can’t pay medical bills, need a break, elderly who need someone to either visit them or grocery shop for them, etc. . . . . . yet we’d waste our hard earned $ and time over this instead of showing up at chik-fil-a this week to support a “cause”. And I guess it’s b/c it’s easier to do this than to give the money to someone who truly needs it. Because if we all did this instead of grandstanding over gay marriage, then we might actually help folks get off wellfare, pay down some medical bills, etc and do the right thing for humankind. I think Dan Cathy would rather we do this than waste our time fighting over this. We’ve made him a martyr for an opinion that people either have and don’t have, and he ain’t the govt. And yes, he got his free speech and now he has the backlash.

Really folks, it isn’t necessary that we all believe in the same GOD, religion, or sexual preference. Let’s just be kind, loving and considerate of everyone. If everyone would start being this kind of person forgetting, sexual preference, color, religion, etc. wouldn’t it be a wonderful world?
Just because someone states an opinion doesn’t mean everyone has to agree. BUT everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I don’t particulary care of Ellen Degeneres but it has nothing to do with her being gay. I just don’t find her humor very funny, same as Ben Stiller. But again that is only my opinion I don’t try to tell people to hate them or boycott their movies, shows, etc. It is like noses-everybody has one!
In the end of life everything comes down to one thing…your own relationship with your maker, whoever you believe it to be.

the boycott won’t work, especially in the South, if the gay community hopes to push them out of business.
also, what about the CFA Bowl and Kickoff Classics? will they be boycotted? what about ESPN and ABC who pay money to CFA to show the games? are ESPN and ABC gay hating bigots as well because they give money to CFA who in turn donates what in short comes out to less than 1% of profit to a group you don’t like? at what point does this become pointless?
I’m a Christian who think gays should be allowed the right to divorce at the same current 50 percent rate as straights….at this point, we should all be worried about our own marriages than who others marry.
but i am totally for not being persecuted for personal beliefs. the boycott of this for personal beliefs, and especially the “ban” of the restaurants out of cities, is constitutionally WRONG. if you want to not go because you feel like your money goes to the wrong causes, fine, but remember that CFA also creates parks, homes, and scholarship funds for people who probably couldnt give a rats behind about this issue and would rather have an opportunity to a roof over their head or education.

My two cents to people who call themselves Christians and think they have to get drawn into this false battle (waged mostly by the media for advertising clicks): you don’t believe in homosexuality, don’t be it. But this whole accusing self righteous thing isn’t proper, not from a legal or moral or Christian standpoint. The love of God draws to repentance. People are so immature they start this name calling and your going to hell dialog and you look a ignorant as they believe you are. go read your book again if you think that the political dialog against are really words that ought to come out of your mouth,(according to hat your book says) or that the accusations are doing anything but condemning yourself by your own words. You need to respect the fact that we are free will beings. The vast majority ought to seriously be working on their own beams and leaving alone their neighbors mote. Politicians who pander to get votes by making this a reactionary issue are deceitfully using your religeous believes to drive a wedge and gain power for themselves and are creating ignorant haters from people whose God called them to live and serve. Go read your book and chose to love your neighbor, if you are what you say you are and stop being led by the nose for advertising revenue.
Some homosexuals have been terribly emotionally damaged by others and some choose the lifestyle for its excesses, but they (consenting adults) have every right to the free choices they make that you do. There are more promiscuous heterosexuals with abominable behaviors doing what is wrong according to your book, homosexuals are a minority. Do you have “rights ” to demand them to behave the way you are supposed to be? The answer to that question is no. This culture war will show itself for what it is if you stop buying into politicians using it for personal gain. I don’t want my freedoms impacted by either of you. The dialog needs to grow some respect. Both sides need some work.

Why support Christian marriages? Most end in divorce because one or both of them commit adultery with someone outside the marriage. What does the Bible say about adultery? Gay people have traditional family values as well…it just didn’t fit the mold that society has created.

2 THINGS HERE:
1) Cathy is not the govt (actually he is since he pays taxes, but that’s not how our govt sees it)
2) Nowhere in the constitution does is provide for “separation of church and state”. There is freedom of religion, but not the separation. I’ve had many a lawyer remind me of that. I haven’t actually looked, but apparently it that is the case. Somehow, everyone just thinks it’s there, and it’s not.

Let’s imagine for a moment that the laws of our country are based on two concepts: 1. we can do whatever we want as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else, and 2. we can do whatever we want as long as all parties are consenting to the action (and let’s just say 18 is the age of consent.)
If this is true, then homosexuals should be allowed to be married, correct? Two adults that love each other, want to marry each other, it’s not hurting anyone else, so what’s the big deal? Right? So, continuing with that logic, why is polygamy wrong? Consenting adults that all love each other, are cool with multiple people being in a marriage-type relationship, still not hurting anyone else, so what’s the problem? It can’t be that 2 is ok and 3 is wrong. Surely the number attached to the relationship isn’t the issue. Why are you bashing Mormons when your beliefs are based on the same conceptual rights?
I am a Christian and I do not support marriage for homosexuals, but wouldn’t fight civil unions. Why? Because I believe marriage to be a religious institution, not a governmental one.

The Bible is (VERY) clear: Marriage is between a Man and a Woman. Why this surprises people, for a restaurant that is closed on Sunday to respect GOD, is incomprehensible. But, then again, this is an America that elected Barak Obama, and will most likely re-elect him. WOW.. Stupid, clueless people never seem to amaze.
Now, my opinion, if a gay couple wants a ‘civil union’ so they can have the same benefits of Married people, so be it. But MARRIAGE is very clear, and it is ONLY between a Man and a Woman. It’s Biblical for Christ’s sake!!

When everyone stops with the name calling and tantrums inisiting they are right they will realize that the solution is simple – it doesn’t require that you “change your views” it allows for those that hold their religion dear to do so without persecution….
Take the freaking government out of the church – period! EVERYONE that wants to become man and wife, man and man, wife and wife etc goes to the government for a license of civil union. The term Marriage is a sacrament in many religions and thus the opposition to Gay “marriage”. If we do this then EVERYONE gets what they want. LGBT can have the came civil union that any straight couple can and then each and every church can offer the sacrament of marriage to their members as they see fit. Those that see it as male and female only can and those that see it as same sex can and those that dont want to be associated with a church can still have all of the benefits and rights that are offered to everyone else. Come on people – this is realling getting old. Let’s fix it and move on!

The pictures taken at the Chik-fil-A appreciation day will be like the ones at the anti-school integration rallies – shameful and bewildering. Straight people have put such a stigma on homosexuality that it can do nothing but backfire on them. There are many cultures that are not Christian and embrace all. I am gay, and I support Chick-fil-A. Recent events actually make me want to dine there more often. I have a message to others who happen to be gay: Dan Cathy’s first ammendment rights under the Constitution trump, supersede and are paramount compared to any special rights that misguided gays seek to extract. As Libertarian, Neal Boortz eloquently points out, gays indeed ARE afforded equal protection under the law. Let me try to explain this as well as Neal articulates it: a straight man under the laws of Georgia cannot marry a gay man, just as a gay man cannot marry another gay man. Likewise, a gay man CAN legally marry a woman, just as a straight man may do. Thus, equal protection under the law. There is no difference and this point is irrefutable. Now there are two ways gays may effect change here: (1) move to a state where one can legally marry a person of the same sex, or (2) petition to put gay marriage on the ballot in Georgia (you know, “community organizing”, the very thing the worst president in history did in his Chicago days). Furthermore, the fascists beliefs of Rahm Emmanual, some sleezy Chicago aldermen and mayors of other cities, wherein they wish to DENY a private business the right to set-up shop is unconscionable, alarming and wholly un-American. Could you imagine the outrage from the left if a Muslim run business were summarily dismissed and denied THEIR right to operate a restaurant chain and earn an honest living? Thank you, Dan Cathy! Its your business, and your family built it! And thanks for what you’ve done for scores of youth who have worked for your great Atlanta company and furthered their own dreams and aspirations as a result!

In the 1970s, I was one of the first persons to say out loud that no one should discriminate against homosexuals merely because they appear to be or are homosexual. That position may appear to be inconsequential today, but during the 50s 60s and early 70s, every discipline in psychiatry thought homosexuals to be suffering from a mental impairment.
But let me tell you something, if homosexuals behaved in the early 70s as they do today e.g. coming out of the closet, National Same-Sex Kiss Day, homosexual marriage, parading in the military, etc I likely would have discriminated against them too. There is no doubt that I would have thought them to be suffering from a mental defect.

When it’s time to pop the question to the girl of my dreams:
I will take the ring out of my pocket.. get down on one knee, take her by the hand and ask my soulmate to Civil Union me.
We can get married in Hawaii (where Heterosexual couples can join in civil union just like homosexual couples).
Legally everything will be EXACTLY THE SAME as if we were married.. in every sense of the word.. well except for “the word” used to describe our domestic partnership. Of course we’ll tell all our friends and family that we’re married. Because we will be.
We will act and live as if we were married.. We will have the same rights & privileges afforded to us by the law as if we were husband & wife or husband & husband or wife & wife which are all the same exact rights!
And she will be my wife and I her loving husband ’til death do us part or the law parts us legally, [like it does over half the couples it marries] first in trial seperation √, then in divorce $½$.
However maybe, just maybe.. if I found a lady so open minded to enter into a civil union with me (for the love of irony & common sense) and possibly be so cool to let Chick-Fila cater our wedding reception.. I mean.. our “civil union ceremony” reception.. then who knows.. maybe we might be able to make our WHATEVER THE HECK YOU WANT TO CALL IT last ’til death due us part

ATT donates tons of money to gay and lesbian groups- they have been voted a top GLADD supporter for five years running. ATT also has a large employee group of gays and lesbians which they actively promote and advertise to the rest their employees- yes I was an employee for years so I know this to be true. They are of course a PUBLIC company. Why not outrage here? CFA is a private company and can donate to and support whomever they choose. If you don’t like CFA, don’t eat there- but please drop the disgusting “kiss-in”- no one likes public displays of affection in front of their children- regardless of gay or straight. Honestly. sometimes the gay movement is their own worst enemy with stunts like the “kiss-in” and the weird costumes in “pride” marches. Show us the same respect with which you wish to be treated.

I suppose if Dan Cathy said he didn’t like motorcycles, that would have really stirred it up, too. Or if he said he didn’t care for the NBA, people would call for the immediate closure of all his stores. Since when is it a crime to have an opinion in the United States? I am sick of anyone who protests and cries about someone else’s opinion. Get a frikkin life!

In the eyes of God all sins are EQUAL. Some of you on here might do yourself a favor to remember that when He is doing His final judgment on you…if being gay is a sin it will be frowned upon no less than your sitting here in judgment of others…little white lies….watching porn or whatever other “sinful” act you convince yourself are allowable. Re-evaluate your own “values” and stop judging the choices of others. Leave that up to God.

When people single out a group and say what they do is wrong according to the bible, those same people must look in their own closet to see what sins they have committed as well according to the bible. Ray Tardinski we get you don’t like gays. Have you remained faithul or have you cheated? Did you have premarital sex or were you pure? “I HAVE boycotted Chick-fil-A because Dan Cathy has used profits from Chick-fil-A to donate five million dollars to organizations that advocate criminalizing gay people, denying gay people the ability to serve in the military, denying gay people the right to marry, depicting gay people as pedophiles, making it okay to fire gay people, denying gay parents access to their own children, denying children of gay couples the protection that comes from having both parents recognized as having responsibility for that child, treating gay people as broken, in need of repair, and depraved, along with a host of other oppressive initiatives. ”
So have you also boycotted Home Depot and a miriad of other businesses who have also donated millions to pro-traditional-marriage groups or is your wrath only reserved for those companies which have vocal CEO’s?

A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When evildoers assail me, uttering slanders against me, my adversaries and foes, they shall stumble and fall. 3 Though a host encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident. 4 One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple. 5 For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent, he will set me high upon a rock. 6 And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies round about me; and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the LORD. 7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry aloud, be gracious to me and answer me! 8 Thou hast said, “Seek ye my face.” My heart says to thee, “Thy face, LORD, do I seek.” 9 Hide not thy face from me. Turn not thy servant away in anger, thou who hast been my help. Cast me not off, forsake me not, O God of my salvation! 10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the LORD will take me up. 11 Teach me thy way, O LORD; and lead me on a level path because of my enemies. 12 Give me not up to the will of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and they breathe out violence. 13 I believe that I shall see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living! 14 Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; yea, wait for the LORD!

I say let the gay world have marriage. Let them pay taxes at the same rate we married folk have to pay taxes at with the penalties that involves. Let them pay for divorces with attorneys and child support the way the heterosexual community has been paying for all of these years. Make it all even Steven. You can’t have just a piece of marriage without the whole shebang. I am sick of this debate. Unless it directly concerns you, shut up. If God is the ultimate judge, let Him be the one to make the call. Take the plank out of your own eye before you try and take the speck of sawdust out of your brothers eye. Dan Cathy gives to organizations that are Christian based. That does not make them anti gay. This thing has gone far enough. Are all of the pro gay organizations that money goes to anti Christian? No! This is a paralyzing fight that will do nothing but cause hatred to grow stronger and louder. Each side believes what they believe. Neither is going to give in. Let it go. People are dying in abject poverty right here in the United States. I would love to see all this energy used to put food in their moths and clothes on their backs. All of this is a waste of hate. I have one question, if the law did not require CFA to serve everyone, would he serve openly gay patrons? I mean he is willing to take money from gay patrons, but then his company donates those funds to organizations that would deny rights to those same patrons. Seems a bit hypocritical to me. It is a private company and he can whatever he wants with his money, and I am a citizen am free to spend my money at other places other than CFA. And remember the first amendment gives him the the protected right to speech, but he is not protected under the same from the responses of others for his speech.

If I were a CFA owner, I would welcome all of the LBGT crowd to come out for “kiss day”, AND I would give a free CFA sandwich to each of them in the parking lot (where they are supposed to go according to the organizers of the event) after their kiss. Then I would make sure to get a picture of each & every one of them eating their sandwich and post it on all social media sites showing that they do not disrespect the LBGT community, but love them as Christ loved each and every one of us sinners. Besides, it’s not like they can’t afford to give away a few free sandwiches after their record setting day (which happened in large part because of the LBGT community).

Also, chick-fil-a’s profits are earned, and as a an owner of a private company, Dan Cathy is free to do what he wants with that money within the law. Will WELL SAID…Never have I been quite as concerned for the state of this country as I am now, after Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day. Just because one group does not approve of another’s lifestyle does not grant them the right to deny the other their rights as equal citizens, and I will defend this view as long as I live

The day same sex couples can have kids naturally together is the day I will accept the marriage between them. Have your “unions” all you want, but marriage is a Christian tradition between a man and a woman that has gone for more commercial these days, pretty much like Christmas. Half the idiots running off at the mouth against Chick-Fil-A don’t even understand what was said and what it even meant. True gays and lesbians understand the context and don’t let it bother them, because it is not keeping them from eating Chick-Fil-A, or even working at one. The uproar is in the media and the other loud mouthed liberals that don’t even have a hand in the issue, they just want controversy in the headlines and their 15 minutes of fame.

It is’nt about hate – it is simply about belief and what the Bible says. It is fact. Married folks can have babies. It is about what is natural and what one believes in. It’s not about rights. Where is my right to have two wives? One day it may become that way because of the sick people in the world forcing us to allow it.

@allenMP I couldn’t agree more. I’m pro gay marriage, but the reaction of “they won’t open a chickfila in my district” is the only part I find disturbing. I don’t get why people are surprised the really christian owner of chickfila is against gay marriage when roughly half the country seems to be. Why be so concerned with a private citizens view when he doesn’t demonstrate any bigotry on hiring or serving people? I’m confused as to why this is so important to the goal of achieving gay marriage rights?

If gays have the right to make out in public then I should have the right to read my Bible anywhere I please.
If gays can talk about being gay anywhere they want then I should have the right to talk about my God anywhere I want.
If you don’t want to hear about my God, then I shouldn’t have to hear about gays.
If gays can judge my God, then my God can and will judge the gays.
Science is constantly proving evolution wrong. You can’t look around this world and think it happened by chance. Which means to me everything was created. Creation is biblical which means the Bible is right. If the Bible is right that means homosexuality is wrong. But I’m not allowed to say that.

As I believe someone stated, the bible defines marriage as the union between a man and a woman for the purpose of procreation. At the time the term ‘marriage’ was defined, and until about the 15th century, love more often than not had little to do with marriages, as they were more often than not arranged by the betrothed’s parents for strategic or financial gain. I have many gay friends whom I love dearly, and pray each day that every US state recognizes their love for each other and legally recognizes their civil unions and gives them the benefits concurrent therewith, to wit, tax/insurance/credit advantages. I also think there is nothing wrong with gay people adopting and caring for children who would otherwise not have loving parents. However, marriage is a very specific term which I must reluctantly admit refers to the union between a man and a woman. Sorry everybody

Truett Cathy has for many years both hired and served gays and lesbians without discrimination. He also has given employees scholarships, opportunities to manage franchises, free marriage counseling and free legal assistance, every Sunday off of work, and free camp experiences for the children in the many children’s homes he funds – both in the US and in Brazil. He has done all this as a Christian. He has done more good for more people than Donald Trump!
He has a right to express his PERSONAL views to a Christian reporter for publication in a Christian newspaper.
I stood in line for 90 minutes to support him yesterday and I will make it a point to eat there even more frequently than I have — Chik-Fil-A equals Freedom of Speech. I will also boycott Chicago since that seems to be the politically correct way to react to another person’s opinion.

I have to say, some of these vicious comments I’ve read – that I’m assuming were made by both gays and heterosexuals – don’t seem in step with friends that I have that are gay. I’ve never heard them make vicious or hurtful statements about something they didn’t agree with . . . they would just work to change it. It makes me wonder if the comments are being made by a person or persons who are trying to stir the pot.

Can you imagine ANY conservative Mayor stating to the public that they wanted to ban any on going well run business ( Say Starbucks) from opening ANY MORE stores in their city because they were against gays. Do you think it would lead the evening news? This is silly. Most folks in realville oppose gay marriage. Hollywood and the progressive press have tried to create a “shock value” to oppose it.
Oh course there’s lot’s of response on the AJC blog because ATL is one of the top 2 or 3 Meccas for gays. Don’t eat there. And if you push it, CFA will get stronger and the push back for gays will get louder and stronger. Yesterday from LA to Miami, it was pretty powerful.

Hooray for Mike Huckabee and all at CFA, as well as all Americans who do not support marriage between anything other than a man & woman!! CFA and Dan Cathy have done more for our country, and especially our children, than any other restaurant around. He has set a great example for our youth who have worked there and never – ever has CFA discriminated against anyone in the Gay/Queer/Lesbian community! They hire any and all who are competent….period. Now this precious man and everyone else has the legal right to disagree with the gays/queers/lesbians. Just because he and the vast majory of Americans disagree does NOT MEAN that they HATE these people. They just don’t believe as they do!! It has long since been proven that the majority (not all, but a vast majority) of gays/queers/lesbians were taken advantage of during a very vulnerable time in their lives by another gay/queer/lesbian who was older and so called “supportive” of them, leading them to their “new life.” I feel actually sorry for them, do not hate them, yet remain steadfast that it is wrong. I am sick and tired of this 1-2% in our country trying to “force their beliefs on us” by making spectacles of themselves in public places. If that’s what you wish to be and do, go back to the closet and have at it. Don’t embarass yourselves in public, but most importantly respect our children and do not make a spectacle in front of our children – that is all out WRONG! I can’t even believe I live in a country that ever allowed a queer/gay couple to “adopt” a child – it was and is still unimaginable to me…children are our most precious gift and innocent and deserve the “very best that there is.” Our country has gone to heck in a basket over this trash and our politicans and big business too – they all want to be politically “correct.” Enough to make one regurgitate!!! Yet behind closed doors, the majority of them believe it is horrible, do not agree, and even make jokes about it – the ones that are straight that is. So, you go ahead with your Friday…..just Kiss OFF !!!!

Listen and respond. Don’t jump in a flash mob without thinking what the facts are of the statement.
The uproar is from the response of the gay community for what this man believes…..Not from hate or denying anyone a right to visit his business, be served, and treated with respect. That’s what you get at CFA.

What is the difference between judging and discerning? Because someone states their opinion does not mean they are judging. What is interesting to me is the bitterness expressed by the left. Does the bitterness come from knowing deep in their spirit their homosexual feeling are not natural?
Scunnered stated being an atheist yet he lives a moral life. May I ask a question, if you live a moral life what is your morality base on? An atheist should also be amoral because without God then there is no right or wrong. What is your right or wrong based?

Since he has a defect, he may not approach the altar to offer food to his God. 22 However, he may eat from the food offered to God, including the holy offerings and the most holy offerings. 23 Yet because of his physical defect, he may not enter the room behind the inner curtain or approach the altar, for this would defile my holy places. I am the Lord who makes them holy.”

Statistics on Suicide in the U.S.
Overall, it is the11th most common cause of death, more frequent than homicide which ranks 14th.
Suicide Attempts
Suicide Among Homosexuals
Lesbians are two times more likely to attempt suicide than straight women.
Attempts by gay and lesbian youth account for up to 30% of all completed suicides.
Gay teens are 3 times more likely to attempt suicide than their heterosexual peers.
Gay youth are 4 times more likely to make a suicide attempt requiring medical attention.
Gay men are six times more likely to attempt suicide than heterosexuals.
I applaud those of you who are doing your best, through the strength of the Spirit of God to break off the chains of your homosexuality. This is slavery. Satan wants you in hell to be with him. The hateful people on this blog is from the South where people who hung blacks from oak trees are still living and they said it was ok with God to hang black people. Now people are born gay ask 99% of medical doctors and they will say yes people can be born wanting to be with the same sex. A lot of Pastors believe it but they say it is a cure. People in the South are too under educated to realize it. Plus on top of people being born gay so of the people who say they are gay was not born gay but was molested as a child so some have it flipped and we feel the need to keep abusing people that was abused as a kid. The judge asked a room full of jury candidates did they know of anyone being sexually abused and everybody raised their hand. Most of the sexually abusers are the pillow of the Church.

I have to disagree with your ignorance. I bet you that the only reasonit was Adam and Eve and not Adam and Steve is because a guy and a guy cant make a baby. But a guy and a girl can. Without them reproducing we wouldnt be here. So yeah it was a guy and a girl but this is the 21st century. Guys and Guys and Girls and Girls do get married. So get over it, cause you leaving ignorant comments isn’t going to change anything. It makes you look like a Jesus freak who doesn’t understand the bible. Gays dont go to hell. There are many fine gay people and couples who quietly go about their busness and do extremely well for themselves, no one is descrimintig against them or their businesses, then you have these gays who think it is their duty to shock an awe their way to whatever agendas that serve themselves, they won’t extend the same respect toward hetrosexuals as they demand for themselves…..the chick-fil-a phenomenom shows that a very, very, very, large majority of people saw a way to quietly show their support for high moral, christian based principles…..you will NOT see the other side with even a very, very small fraction of this kind of physical representaton.
