General Motors is recalling every Chevrolet Cruze it has sold in the U.S. to fix a problem that could lead to engine-compartment fires.
The recall affects 413,418 vehicles, according to Autonews.com. GM will modify an engine shield under the Cruze to prevent liquids from being trapped in the engine compartment, where the liquids could cause a fire, the automaker said.
Two vehicle fires in April prompted the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to investigate 2011 Cruzes, and later the 2012 model.
GM said the free fix should take about 30 minutes at any Chevrolet dealership.
GM began selling the Cruze in September 2010, so the recall affects every vehicle sold between that time and May.
