Average gas price drops 3 cents in metro Atlanta

Did you even notice?

Gas prices in metro Atlanta dropped 3 cents since last week, according to AAA Georgia.

It’s a still too-high average of $3.83 for regular unleaded, but at least it’s heading in the right direction.

We can partly thank talks between Iran and United Nations members on Saturday that eased tensions over whether Iran would block the Strait of Hormuz and cut the global oil supply, according to AAA spokeswoan Jessica Brady.

“The lessened concern with Iran coupled with slow economic growth in China, and ample supply will very likely cause gas prices to drop,” said Brady. “This is positive news for motorists who may start to see some relief at the pump as the summer driving season approaches.”

The national average price of regular unleaded gasoline is $3.90, a 2-cent drop from last week. Georgia’s average of $3.83 and Florida’s average of $3.94 both dropped 3 cents from last week. Tennessee’s average price of $3.77 dropped 2 cents from last week.

Track gas prices  in and around Metro Atlanta. We found a low of $3.65 at The Owl Station, 3631 Cherokee St. & Chalker Rd. in Kennesaw; $3.69 at Gulf station, 3046 Lawrenceville Hwy. in Lawrenceville, and a high of $4.29 at a Citgo at 2060 Peachtree Rd. in Atlanta.

Find anything cheaper? Please let us know. What have you been doing to adjust to high gas prices?

Thanks for the “news” about the “great” gas prices. Where was your “reporting” when, a couple months ago, gas jumped from $2.99 to $3.55 in one week (7 days)?? Where is your reporting about how gas prices were less than $2.00 until Hurricane Katrina and haven’t been below $2 since??? Gee, how do those oil companies makes those billion$$ every quarter? Hmmm, small wonder. Thanks for your “great” reporting. Will your editors even allow this little tiny bit of truth on to your pages? I doubt it.

THIS IS A BUNCH OF CRAP. WE NEED OT ADMIT OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS, FROM WHITEHOUSE, SENATE AND HOUSE COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THE WORKING PERSON. GAS WILL BE USED AS A CAMPAIGN SUBJKECT, BUT NO INTENTION IN OUR LEADERS (?) DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I HAVE MORE FAITH IN THE DOG SPOT ON RCA ADS DOING SOMETHING POSITIVE FOR THE WORKING MAN THAN I DO THE WHITE HOUSE, SENATE OR REPRESENTATIVES.

Gas prices will go up … or down, but whatever the White House and Congress do will have only minimal effect, including approving the Keystone pipeline, releasing oil reserves and commencing more off-shore drilling. Get over it, Derwood.

This has to be a joke. 3 lousy cents.
Our previous president got absolutely crushed by the media when the prices ever got high, even though it was temporary. The current one is like Teflon. The media is scared to call him out. He know zilch about of energy. We have zero of an energy policy outside of some wacko subsidized solar & energy companies that have gone bankrupt using my money. I tell ya what, if your solar or electric driven engines can get an airplane off the ground then I will be willing to listen to the other side.
