Should Apple offer bigger iPhone screen?

Days after a report that the next new iPhone will have a bigger and sharper screen comes another one that says the screen will remain the same size but there will be other changes.

In a posting, iMore.com says the screen of the “iPhone 5,1” will be the same size but the dock connector will be more “mirco”, reducing the size of the 30-pin dock to allow for more auxiliary connections. The website also says that if the screen size grows it won’t be as large as the 4.6 inches speculated earlier this week.

South Korea’s Maeil Business Newspaper reported a high-definition 4.6-inch Retina display is on the way, with several times as many pixels as the existing iPhone 4S display. Maeil, without disclosing its source, said Apple has already started placing orders for the bigger screens.

LG Display and Samsung Electronics Co., Apple’s major display suppliers, declined to comment. And Apple, which began selling the 4S last October, isn’t talking, either.

And according to PC magazine’s website, an unnamed Samsung official reportedly told The Korea Times recently that Apple is planning to launch a smaller iPad with a 7.85-inch screen by the end of the year. Current iPads have 9.7-inch screens.

Should Apple increase the size of its next iPhone screen to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus?

Yes I do think they need one. Three reason I have not bought a Iphone. 1. small screen and bad use of real estate. 2. No universal connecter and charger that is used by most other phones. 3. You have to use Itunes only to interact with the phone.

The current phone has so much wasted screen space at bottom with the big button and top that could very easily increase the height of the screen, then make the phone a tiny bit wider and you have the right set up.

I4 S has a great speaker phone, and Siri. Give it a 4.3 ” Screen and small edge around the screen and you have a new Iphone customer.

I’m a Mac lover in general, but for a phone I love my Motorola Photon 4G with the Tegra chip and 4.3in screen. I have small hands, or I would think 4.5 would be optimum, but less than 4.3in is a non starter. It looks and feels right and I don’t need reading glasses to navigate comfortably. The small screen is costing them.

NO ! I have a personal i-Phone and my RAZR for work. The Razr is too big and i much prefer my i-Phone 4S. I don’t want to carry a 10 inch TV screen on my side for a phone.

Apple, Keep the i-Phone in the same frame (size) and keep the same connector on the device. I’m tired of having to buy new docking stations and car stereo’s for the new i-Pod’s and i-phones to work correctly.

Let ’s see…yawn. Sounds like the blogger is doing personal lobbying for a bigger screen and i t implicates his conflict with the device. So if iCrapple does increase the screen size then its phone isn’t “perfect” afterall. A much better device will be the Sammy S III compared to the 4S and 5, even before the latter is available, hands down.

Just saying..

Increase the screen size to 4 inch & no more. I had to return Samsung Galaxy S2 which had 4.3 inch and that was too big! 4.6 inch iPhone will be a BIG FLOP. Don’t want to carry a flat screen tv in my pocket that will not fit plus will be too big for average person to hold it in the palm of the hand.

Love my iPhone 4s, no complaints about the screen size, the 30 pin connector is fine, we have several iPods and 3 iPhones in our family, don’t go changing it now!

Movies are hard to watch on the iphone 4s. I’m hoping they make the screen size a lot bigger.

Clueless inviduals who advocate Android as an alternative to Apple fail to observe it is the total package, long battery life, smooth operation, freedom from malware exploits, hundreds of thousands of higher quality apps than Android, that make the iPhone the world’s single best seller in smartphones.

If Apple bumps up the size of the iPhone it is pretty much game over for the rest of the industry which is selling high tech cheap hardware at cost or very little profit. they do not have the whole package that Apple offers ech and every customer.
