Report: Newest iPad out in March

Expect the newest iPad, the iPad3, to make its debut in early March, according to the website AllThingsD.com.

The tech website said Apple will unveil the newest version of the popular tablet in the first week of March in San Francisco. It could hit stores within a week after the announcement, AllthingsD speculated.

As far as the changes, Apple enthusiasts can expect “a device similar in form factor to the iPad 2, but running a much faster chip, sporting an improved graphics processing unit, and featuring a 2048×1536 Retina Display — or something close to it,” the website said.

Apple said it wouldn’t comment on rumors.

In its first fiscal quarter ended in December, Apple said it sold 15 million iPads, a 111 percent unit increase over the same period a year earlier. The iPad 2 starts at $499 and the price is higher depending on the memory.

Sigh….And the Apple cult will stand in line for hours to get one.

I’m still trying to decide what practical uses this device has.

Midget Wrestling guy…why does it bother you what products we buy, how much we enjoy them, and whether or not we are willing to stand in line for them? Aren’t there things in your life about which you are enthusiastic? Should that bother us if we do not share your enthusiasm?

Wait til the initial problems are uncovered, be sure the price isn’t going down really fast and support is stable, then buy it online, and you will get the most for your money…

I say we collectively lose thousands of pounds, slip into the plant that manufactures the Apple as undercover Orientals, and try to escape with an Ipad3 in our worker approved garb of one diaper. Alright, I guess I’d rather buy a box of Cheez-Its and sit in line.

Tom, actually I think it would be more efficient to just stake out the bars in and around Cupertino. You stand a pretty good chance of scoring a pre-production model.

Great! The new Ipod/Email/Websurfer/PDF reader is almost here! Or you can get a Fire, Galaxy or any other tablet and do the same thing for less $$

Being a recent PC to Apple convert, I bought an iPod2 last year and find it lighter, faster and smaller than my Sony Vaio laptop. I also find the Apple more intuitive to use, right out of its’ slick box.

I use it for logging into my airline’s website to check in on the way to the airport. at the gate, I watch the actual airline’s seat availability and where I fall in line for a standby seat.

While waiting at the gate, I often Skype with friends and family in Europe. I also keep an eye on my bank accts and make sure I have enough in checking to cover all the checks and electronic bills.

The Vaio was nice and compact, but not as slick and light as the iPad. The screen resolution is also better on the Apple and of course it is faster (the Sony is 2 years old).

If you travel a lot; the iPad is the coolest device to keep you mobile. One regret; I wish I had made the switch sooner.
