White Castle considering beer sales

Even if you can’t find them in metro Atlanta, many people are familiar with the White Castle hamburger chain.

The iconic fast food restaurant known for its sliders and fries is considering selling beer and wine.

The 90-year-old chain is already testing alcoholic beverage sales in Lafayette, Ind., where customers can buy a glass of wine for $4.50 or beer for $3. The Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch newspaper quotes a spokesman who says customer feedback so far is promising.

White Castles are mainly found in the Midwest and Northeast, although Tennessee also has locations. If you’re not familiar with the chain, you can get a pretty good idea what a White Castle burger looks like if you drop in on a local Krystal restaurant.

Is White Castle on to something? Now that many areas around Atlanta have approved Sunday alcoholic beverage sales, are sales at fast food restaurants next in line? “Order up!”

Why tease us if we can’t have White Castle… Krystal is just a cheap imitation.

I used to go to hip & urbane bars, now, In this economy, I may be slugging down a pint or two at White Castle. Sure, its greasy and bright but I’ll bet the beer is cheap. See you on the stool next to me.

By the way, the only way you can qualify for a job at Krystal is if you were first fired from Walmart and then Denny’s for poor job performance.

How’s about a little brewski at the Varsity, eh? ‘What’ll ya have, what’ll ya have?’ “Gimme 2 dogs, ring one, and a ‘happy water’!!”

the additional cost of permits and especially insurance drive overhead costs up so high that this is an interesting decision.

Pure blasphemy that you would say if you want to know what White Castle tastes like to simply go to a Krystal hamburger joint. Krystal has nothing on White Castle. And, the frozen burgers now sold in stores here is a crock. Taste nothing like the real White Castle.

Used to hang at White Castle after clubbing back in the day.

Hey Mark @ 1:21. Since when did anyone bring up the beer sales issue? All the guy before you said was he didn’t drink and would chose not to patronize WC if they chose to carry alcohol. He also in the same breath acknowledged WC’s right to sell it if they wanted to. You respond by immediately throwing out the pejorative “Bible thumper”. If anyone is narrow minded about things its you.

White Castle or Krystal, doesn’t matter. A Regurge-a-Burger is a Regurge-a-Burger.

Grew up on White Castle, I suggested visiting a Krystal if you want to see what one looks like. Of course, you can also visit White Castle’s website http://www.whitecastle.com/

I agree I’ve had both and White Castle’s are much better than Krystal’s.

Not sure if all the Krystals are getting as slack as the one we have but it never fails to only find a small dot of mustard in the middle and maybe 4 scattered onions on the entire burger. What happened to the toppings?
