Metro Atlanta’s unemployment rate rose to 10.4 percent in August from 10.3 percent in July, the state labor department said Thursday.
There has been no improvement from a year ago when the local jobless rate was also 10.4 percent.
The rate increased this August because there were more layoffs in construction, trade, administrative and support services, and accommodation and food services, the labor department said.
Clayton had the highest jobless rate among the core metro counties — 13 percent. Fulton was next with 11 percent, followed by DeKalb (10.8 percent), Cobb (9.6 percent) and Gwinnett (9.3 percent).
The city of Atlanta’s jobless rate hit 11.7 percent in August, up from a revised 11.5 percent in July.
Last week, the labor department reported that Georgia’s jobless rate rose to 10.2 percent in August from 10.1 percent in July.
August marked the 49th consecutive month Georgia has exceeded the national unemployment rate, which is currently 9.1 percent.

Anyway, we are all in serious economic crisis without much hope in the
nearest future, based on all the predictions by the IMF, Economists,
credit rating agencies, stock crash etc etc. This is now spreading to other countries too. Only GOD knows the future. I am very cautious before buying anything, but take time to read, where it was made. Can we all make a decision to avoid, it at all
possible the foreign made consumber goods. We don’t have anything made
in the U.S. to consume, other than food items. When I saw some food items also from China, I felt like I was going to have a heart attack.
Our standard of over consumption will be considerably reduced, it is good
in a way. America became a dumping ground for all the cheap foreign
made goods with U.S. company brand name, so misled the consumers. Let us have another revival of patriotism by looking at the ” made in” label. Now, ABC is taking the lead in this revolution.

One good example of what’s wrong in GA stems directly from that job eating monster called the EPA. Atlanta wastes a fortune on sewers that were perfectly functional just to comply to EPA rules. So homeowners are now stuck paying outrageous water bills that goes back into the pockets of the crooks on Wall Street.
Before things can get better anywhere, you’ve got to kill the parasites that are infecting this country, first and foremost the EPA!

Hoot: “Funny all the libs pointing fingers at the state GOP leadership.”
I don’t know if you realize that these are the people who many want to replace President Obama , OUR President? Can’t hold them accountable? Why, you are holding President Obama totally accountable?
Is it about time to call these companies and peole “un american” for taking the jobs elsewhere and abandoning the US? Why not? Is the alledged bottom line the only issue of importnce for a business?
