Power Breakfast: UPS holiday hiring, indicted commissioner, Perdue, Home Depot, Fulton budget, GM

Holiday hiring is ramping up.

UPS will hire about 50,000 temporary workers to handle the crush of holiday shipments this year, AP reports.

United Parcel Service said it expects to deliver 430 million packages between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The busiest day should be Wednesday, Dec. 22, when UPS expects to deliver 24 million packages worldwide, up nearly 60 percent from a normal day, AP writes.

Rival FedEx says it expects to move nearly 16 million packages on its peak day, Dec. 13.

Good, at least some will get a little relief. If we all get out our wallets maybe they can hire a few thousand more. By the time the holiday is over maybe they’ll be able to make a few thousand permanent.

Up or down from years past? A little perspective would go a long way.

Henry, is Kenerly a republican or democrat? ALL articles fail to define his affiliation.

Road Scholar,
His website shows he’s a Republican not that it particularly matters since he’s a county official and a political small fry. Keeping score of corrupt officials’ party affiliations just shows that we’re all losers when we vote along party lines.

This is not what it appears to be. I pity the poor, unemployed worker currently drawing unemployment compensation from the State of GA. He or she signs on for this “miracle” employment and it totally screws up the unemployment. With so many applicants, it gives maybe six or seven days of total employment during the Holiday Season and then it makes filing income-tax in the Spring a nightmare.

Why do I say these things? A family member was on unemployment last year and this “miracle” screwed things up for months.

Mishap: Does this confirm Repub genes are inferior, even though he is a small fry?
